Our group of gamers is more focused on mixing games up each week when we meet, so running a league or season of Circus Maximus is not really practical. We run a game abut 6 times a year each as a stand-alone event. Because of time constraints, I created this worksheet to randomly create 16 chariots. Then when we run the race, each player picks a number out of a hat to find out which chariot they have.
The reason we create 16 chariots is two-fold. FIrst, there is usually a chariot or two that is particularly weak, so someone choosing that chariot has the option (after all players have drawn) to refuse that chariot and draw again. The second reason is that I have always hated having a sealed fate when I was the last person to act in a random drawing. By having more chariots than racers, there is still uncertainty when the last chariot is determined.
I'm working on automating creating the Race Logs also, but that is proving to be more tricky and time consuming than I expected. When (If) I get that done, I will upload that too.
