I wasn't sure what to print on the back of the faction cards, so I made some card backs that try to match the style of the protection, sandstorm, and turn order cards.

Intended to be printed on 2.48"x3.46" (63x88mm) cards

Rule Book for Dune - The Dice Game - Version 5.03

Complete overhaul and update. None of the components of version 2 or earlier can be used with this version.

Main differences in comparison to V2 are a switch from a rigid turn-based structure to a more fluid round-based one, decreasing downtime considerably, the funky custom dice have been dropped in favour of regular D6 (albeit heaps of the latter), the luck of the roll is mitigated in several not necessarily obvious ways, the map is adjusted for a more interesting globe-projection, playable factions have been reduced to six, and player count adjusted to 4-6.

PRINT NOTES
Print on letter or A4 sized sheets, set your printer to print at 100%, do not scale to fit or similar shenanigans. Either only print on thick paper (I use 300 g/sqm) or use thin paper and glue that to card stock. Note that the page with the tokens has a front and a backside, all other pages are single-sided.

The Russian translation of updated faction boards for use with Dune:TDG version 2.01. They are consistent with Pavel Vyaznikov’s translation of Dune (which I see as the best one), and includes a lot of additional notes and hints for players as explained in game author’s Q&A threads.

The stickers fit nicely on standard 16 mm non-indented blank dice.

The zip file contains prints for making one, two, or three copies. It also contains the sticker template used for laying out the images.

This is the source file in ODT format, and a text file describing how to acquire the required Roboto fonts. The source file was created in the freely available LibreOffice; OpenOffice will likely work as well. Other word processors may work as well.

This is a variant ruleset for The Dice Must Flow using a simultaneous roll mechanic. Each player has his own set of 7 dice (4 Faction, 1 Kanly, 1 Spice, 1 Region) and rolls them simultaneously and in secret.

Thus, players need 1 to 7 more sets of dice (depending on whether there are 2 to 8 players) and up to 8 player screens.

I have play-tested this mechanic but not enough yet to my satisfaction. I believe it makes the game faster but also more chaotic for people who do not know the game's intricacies well.

Where practicable, the rules have been changed as little as possible to preserve the original game's feel. However, more happens on each turn and each phase appears to involve more possibility.

I still wonder whether the Guild's auto-win on turn 6 means that the Guild will win too often.

This game will reward successive alliances between the same factions even though they dissolve from turn to turn.

Please provide feedback to the extent you feel led.

I put together this player aid sheet that allows each player to have a reference for what each other faction is capable of. It also includes a turn sequence aid at the bottom.

It prints out at 5.5" x 10". Small enough to fit in the box and not take up too much space on the table. The text is a little small, yet still legible.

Version 3: slightly changed the description of the Smugglers faction to clarify its use; adjusted position of leader names.
