Game auctions to raise money for Katrina Relief.
- Darren MCanada
I would especially like to encourage any international Geeks to add games if they like this idea as a way to support and help those in the path of hurricane Katrina.
The format for this auction list is that all winning bidders will then simply donate the winning bid amount through the link here on BGG: "GeekGold for Katrina Relief Fundraiser" http://www.boardgamegeek.com/disasterfundraiser.php
and the games will be sent to you as soon as the GeekGold has been credited to your account.
The owner of the game(s) will pay the shipping costs to send the game(s) to the winning bidder so the entire amount of the winning bid goes to the BGG Katrina Relief fund. I will personally pay shipping to anywhere in the world on my auctioned games but if anyone would like to restrict their bidders to certain coutries...then please state that in the auction details.
So effectively you will be getting games and GeekGold at the rate of 1GG for every $1 bid on the games plus you will be helping hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been devastated by this natural disaster and for whom help will be needed for months to come.
The auction listing format is as follows:
- Name of the game or games if the auction is for a package deal.
- State an accurate description and condition of the game(s) (in shrink, rules language, 1st edition, with expansions etc)
- State the time period the auction will run (Ending Date and Time in CST)
- State a reserve price (if any).
All bidding should take place in the comments section of the game listing.
I would like to challenge all Geeks to donate at least 1 game to auction off to support this cause. I have been inspired by other Geeks such as Jim Mzik, Sean Torrens, Frank Branham and others who are selflessly donating many games from their collections to help raise money. I applaud them and hope we all can do our little bit in some way to help. For those of us that reside outside the USA...small games that are economical to ship would be good choices to save on shipping costs. I realise we all don't have high demand and/or rare games in our collections but any game is worthy of auction as the proceeds all go to a great cause.
I know we all love our games and have carefully built up our collections over the years and it seems fitting that we should sacrifice just a little to help those who have lost so much.
Thank you to all those that bid.
