There is already a list called "games to play at the same time as other games" (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi...), but it tends to contain quite "intrusive" games, or games with a limited number of player. During a gaming convention, I like to throw in a small group game that can be played -while- playing other games. Right now I know of only two such games, listed below, if you know any other please add, I would really love to find some more!

You have a bunch of cards stating words or actions. When you spot somebody saying this word or performing this action you can give him your card. The goal is to end with as few cards as possible.

Every player starts with one "rule". We played with a standard deck of cards, and rules told which combination of cards were worth points. You have to trade information in order to figure out as many rules as possible, then you have to trade cards to try to maximize your score. It's great when you get some twisted rules (ie. rule 17: rule 16 is false).

During the WBC, this event was handled as follows: Everyone who is participating wears a button designating them as a pilot. Challenge them whenever you want during the convention. At the end, players turn in their score sheets. Top 6 advance to a round robin final.

You play it whenever you have a few minutes between games in another tournament or other free time. Makes a great quick filler!

Very simple, requires no thinking and easily lets passerbys jump in. A word of caution; don't set it up on the same table as the other game you're playing!

Curses always seemed like half a game to me. But playing another game while trying to manage the curses... that could be fun.

Fluxx works well as a side game pretty much whenever. We've played it at dinner after the exhibit hall closed at GenCon with the Wizards staff, we've played it between rounds of CCG tournaments, during rounds of CCG tournaments with the people seated at one table, pretty much any time because it is so easy to just look at the playing space and make a quick play.

It also works well because people can jump in/drop out at pretty much any time BECAUSE it is so random. No one has a huge advantage over someone starting later.

We had one set of games where we played during an L5R tournament at GenCon. We started between two rounds and then when the next round started, the people playing in the actual tournament just got skipped, and the rest of us kept playing while trading, playing another game, or just talking. Then when people finished their tournament games, they just jumped back in. It worked great.

A new game where you have to execute a number of secret challenges during the evening. The others must try to guess what your challenges are.
