The Schenectady Wargamers Association held their 28th Annual convention this weekend. Due to a newborn in the family, I was only able to partake in the Saturday festivities (gaming and auction).

Add which games you played to the list...

Two games of the new edition of Ra in the morning session. Highly impressed by the game and it is now on my Want list. First game was to learn, second was to try and be competitive with the expert GM.

Ran this game in the evening session. I'll add more a more detailed review and insights into the game in the General Comments forum in the game entry in the coming days for those interested.
We had all five factions in play. Of the players, only myself and one other player owned the game and had read the rules. It took around 45 mins to run through the rules and we played til the end of Turn 3 in about 3 hours. It seemed like the game was taking longer, but when we conceded to the Reformers we had only been at the table for 4 hours. Unfortunately, the three newcomers to the game choose the Nobility, Habsburgs, and Catholics and their missteps gave the Reformers an easier path than what we expect will be available when we develop our player pool.
My enthusiam for this game continues to build and we are getting our pool together of players that want to take on this game seriously, so hopefully within a few months of playing we will have complete and incredibly challenging games to write Session Reports about.

Played this for the first time at Council. Enjoyed myself, even if I didn't understand the rules completely to start (and misread a token early on).

Is the expansion really that good? It seemed to play great on its own. Opinions?

GM'd this game on Sunday. It has become a traditon to run this one at the end of the convention. Had 4 fairly experienced players, 1 not so experienced and 1 who was playing for the second time. All the players were holding their own until Turn 4 when the eventual leader (Venice) played Crusades after everbody before him had wacked each other. After that, the rest of the players tried to play catch up and they might have, but he scored Spice in shortage for $144 to close the deal. Everybody had a good time and the not so experienced player won.

Played this on Saturday pm and was a 6 player game. For those of you not familiar with the game, there is a mechanic that forces you to move one of you armies so that you can't just sit and hide.

This mechanic kicked in at about the 45 min mark and about 20 min after that, 3 players, including myself were out. I was forced into attacking one player, and it was Titan v Titan, on my very next turn, had to move my strong stack and won that battle against a Titan at the cost of all my troops. Had 200 points, but no additional angels because they were scored with half points. The remaining stack had only my Titan, so I was wearing the "hit me" sign. Fortunately, another player obliged and I could go on to something else.

First time I'd even heard of this game and it joins my Want List. It is a fast and fun matching and dexterity game. Played it in a pick up game after Revolution around midnight. My elbow is still sore which means either my hockey injuries are taking their toll or I was trying too hard. Either way, I fought back for a victory and nothing was broken and nobody was injured.

Hi, Steve... I ran a session of The Marcher Lords for two players who both were new to the game and we managed to play both scenarios. In the first scenario, the Norman player got off to a bad start and never recovered, even losing several of his home Earldom zones. In the second scenario I played the Normans myself and the other two players managed the two Welsh Kings (Welsh won again).
Everyone enjoyed the game and had no trouble mastering the game's mechanics. The con itself was a lot of fun too, especially the auction.

Well, almost... I ran a homebrew miniatures combat game (modified version of Trevor Lemon's Mobile Soldier 1.1) in the world of Mobile Suit Gundam, the 0079 One Year War. The Feddies proved victorious.

Played this with some members of the SUNY Oneonta game club. Perhaps the worst game I've ever played. Impossible to complete based on the rules. What were the designers thinking???
