What are some games out there that once you played, you fell in love with so much you began pouring way to much money into, started making up shorthand phrases, thought about even when not playing, joined RL/OL communities and/or held tournaments? A game that changed from just a game to a "lifestyle"?

I actually haven't played this one yet, but from what I've read, I can't wait to emerge myself into the nitty gritty universe!

Anyone who consider themselves a true roleplayer; knows about this game. It's what started it all. It's easy to get lost in such an enchanting fantasy world "that never ends".

You know you've lost touch with reality when you wake up in the middle of the night and hear an Ettercap scratching at your bedroom door.

The best CCG to date. I've blown my savings many times buying the latest and greatest cards. It's devilishly addicting to make the best deck possible in hopes to trump all who stand before you!

Another game I've yet to play, but even I know how huge of a cult classic this is. The fan base is immense, and most defiantly deserves a place among the top.

In the 80’s this was a very popular game. We spent enormous amount of time creating scenarios and vehicles and even more time playing the game.

Unfortunately, this game does not fit in with the euro standards. Our average games lasted 10-14 hours.

Good Story:
Back during my 3rd year of college I had just gone through an ugly break-up and there was this cute girl that had piqued my interest. The only problem was she played a lot of this game (L5R) with some mutual friends and I had sworn off CCGs after dumping a lot of cash through high school into them.

But any excuse to get close to a lady right? So I ended up learning to play and wooing the girl over many games of this. Unfortunately I got seriously hooked on the CCG and bought cards by the box-full. I finally managed to kick the "habit" around 2001 after drop god-only-knows how much $$$ into it.

Oh and the girl? I married her and we just celebrated out 3 year anniversary!

Currently hooked on this one. I've made numerious house rules for units and have even engineered new tiles of planets and space hazards (that I've posted on fantasy Flight Games message board)and am still working on adds ons.

In short I'm nuts.

Star Fleet Battles. In high school we played this constantly. So much I'm a bit curious how any of us were able to graduate...

Hours upon hours devoted to ship to ship and small fleet battles. We played so much we even invented rules for resource development to finance fleet construction for a campaign we developed. We developed new ships, new rules and new technologies. I played the Gorns. Hmm...plasma torpedos.

My alliance with the Kzin allowed us to eventually the Federation.

Damn. Was I that geeky? Yes, yes I was.
