Ok, so maybe I just need to relax a little bit and enjoy myself. I mean, I can be a little high strung sometimes anyway and gaming is something I do in my free time to get away from the other life drama but sometimes I just cant take a breath while other people take their turns waiting and watching and hoping that it gets to me before something terrible can happen and... well some games the tension is just a little too high. But, then again, these are also some of my favorite games.

This is the big one. I HAVE to know what the people want. How am I going to keep my citizens because I'll be DAMNED if they are moving to your city. I cant believe you're building that so close to my city! Oh no, and someone else is on the other side of my city now! I must build more buildings! Blue, black, white! I must be the best in culture, education, AND health!!

Hmm, so many cities to connect, so much ground to cover, too many people competing for the same connecting routes! Why does that person in front of me KEEP taking my colors!! Quit it! Oh no, they are after the same lines as I am! I'm not going to be able to connect my cities! And not only am I not going to get the points for the route, I'm going to have them SUBTRACTED from my score! Come on, isn't it MY turn yet?? Don't you dare steal that route...

In this game at least there is a lot of variety and different ways to recover from the multiple tragedies that will, without question, affect your cities and your knights throughout the course of a game. But...what could all of these people possibly be hiding in those STACKS of development cards that they have? You better not steal my number with your inventor for the second time this game! And why do you ALWAYS have a resource monopoly and take the only resource that I need and only had because of some miracle and probably will not see again for 3 rounds! And why is the robber always on my 8!! I can't believe I havent received a card since at LEAST my last turn. *sigh*

There isn't much that compares, in a game with lots of cities, with constantly watching your back for those fiends who are out to steal your metropolis. Likewise, there isn't much like the relief of playing those 5 commodities to lock yours in. Yes!!

The definitive game for this list for me would be Online Werewolf in the forum section of this site.

"She seems safe, I wonder about so and so, here I'll post my suspicions, wait I shouldn't have said it like that! now, they think I'm the werewolf, wait, guys, don't lynch me!! it's not me! I swear!"

Diplomacy and its kin (Machiavelli, A Game of Thrones) have got to be the games that, far and away, stress me out the most. I find writing down those orders exruciating, not knowing who's going to stab me. Even trying to decide (if I'm lucky enough to survive the first few turns) exactly when to stab my allies is fraught with white-knuckle stress.

I think some people just have the Diplomacy gene, and some don't. I see those calm Kissingers swaggering around the room, cooly making their sly deals with a smile and a wink. Meanwhile I'm frantically talking to everyone I can, radiating fear and paranoia as I try desperately to set up some long-term alliances. Or short-term alliances. Or support for the next turn. Right? You're going to support me aren't you? Right?

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

The strategy is all laid out, and now comes the time to start the rolling of the dice, to see if it can come to fruition. Ultimately there's that one last territory that I want to take, I've whittled it down to one defender, but I only have one or two available armies with which to attack. If I can win, then that front is secure. If I lose, my opponent can reinforce and rip open my soft underbelly.

The stress is painful, which is probably why I enjoy this game so much.
