Thisone was the first on the list. A woman had bought this game in january and didn't understand the rules, and she finally wanted to play it, so she asked us to help her out. The rules turned out to be not that complex, so we started playing quite fast. I ran out of money early on in the second stage, so I was quite certain I'd loose. I did. Not a bad game, but I'm no auctioning fan.
As this same woman had some questions about the rules of this game too (hmmm, what's not to understand?) we played thisone once too. I won and left everyone behind quite a bit. Not my habbit, I mostly loose But it became clear I have played thisone enough for a while now...
We hadn't played this variation yet, and my girlfriend thought it looked nice, so we got to it right away. It became clear that quite fast that thisone focuses more on rivers than forests, but by that time I had bet all of my meeples on some forests for which we didn't get the finishing tiles till very late in the game. So I lost miserably. 75 agains 189 for my girlfriend.
OK, some time for revenge, I though, so I suggested playing this variant, since we hadn't played thisone either yet. Knowing it's a Reiner game, I suspected it to be a bit different from the normal Carcassonne, or at least more than Hunters & Gatherers. It turned out I was quite right. I liked it a lot, unfortunatly we had to play thisone very fast since the shop was about to close. I won again though. Winning 2 times on one day, something doesn't seem right
