This is just my second public GeekList. I decided to create because this weekend was one of the best gaming weekends I took part in so far. And I welcome recommendations - tell me, what other games can provide us this kind of gaming experience (based on what we enjoyed this weekend).

The Saturday's gaming session was to begin at 5pm. However in the early afternoon we played a 2-player game of Torres. It was really tense - I was the starting player in the first round and fell behind my wife some 5 points. I struggled to make up for it whole two remaining rounds and managed to win by mere 1 point at the end. Probably the best Torres game we played so far.

The other two players came in just on time and we started our gaming session. First we played Pueblo and it was not a good start. The other couple were not experienced gamers and seemed to mix real life with the game. As a result they refused to score negative points against each other. Although this could destroy the whole evening, I tried not to worry about it too much (I won after all) and pulled out a game that doesn't give such a possibility to players.

This was the second highlight of the weekend (after the marvelous Torres game before). The game of RoboRally was just fantastic. We played the beginners' course called Dizzy Dash (if I remember correctly) from the rulebook. Everybody was focused on the game to the max. The game was dynamic, fast paced and everybody was sitting on the edge of the chair. Well, I won again.

After the tense RoboRally game we moved to something lighter. We picked TransAmerica - another game new to our friends. They liked it a lot and both of them won one of the two games we had.

It was getting a bit late, but we decided to play again. This time we picked Jungle Speed as a light game and totally different from the other games played so far. Jungle Speed with 4 players might not show it's best, but anyway it was fun enough for us to play 3 times. I won 2 of those games and Zbyszek (one of our guests) won the third.

The Sunday's gaming evening started much earlier - at 3.30pm and there were just 3 players. As the first game we picked Settlers of Catan. We played it many times and we still consider it our favorite. This is a great game and this particular session was nice as well. My wife won after amazing series of dice rolls. I didn't count it exactly, but I'm convinced that out of some 15 rolls, 12 was a 9 or a 6, the numbers that gave me nothing, but gave many resources to the other two players. This was quite frustrating because my position was very strong at the moment, nevertheless this strange luck gave victory to Paulina. Even after that, I still think that's it's a fantastic game though luck is a part of it.

Next was San Marco and it was the third and last highlight of the weekend. We played with a variant of rules - after each round the player with least points became the first picker and the player with most points became the dealer for next round. We haven't played San Marco for a long time and this game was quite a revival of this game. Although I won by a big advantage, the game felt tense anyway. What certainly helped me were two banishments in San Marco district, where I had 5 aristocrats. Both dice rolls were a "1". Sadly third banishment on the same district (again with 5 my aristocrats in it) was a "5". This game ended quite early in the evening, but we did not want to start neither Alhambra nor Tikal, which were the only other games we had with us. Each of those games would take us some 2 hours (Tikal would require rules explanation) and that would be too late to end the evening.
