This is a list of games played at the November 2005 edition of SFGH! Hosted by OkieDokie. This also was an event for National Games Week. I'm not much of a note taker, so names and scores won't necessarily be posted.

This was my first play. We set up a three player game, while everyone else played Daytona 500. I was pleasantly surprised by the game, it looks like it has the potential to be pretty vicious, which is a good thing. and if I wasn't completely distracted, my play would have been much better. Micah won with one of each different Gem. I definitely want to try this game again.

After a quick trip to the emergency room, we pulled out my prototype. Oasis Town Races Five Cubits Long. I've been working on this game for about nine months. It is a fairly simple race game, the game play involves playing cards to move two specific camels. There are obstacles on the course to avoid, or not. The race continues till three camels have crossed the finish line, at which point bets are paid off. Players do not control individual camels, rather they are limited to what cards they draw to move Camels. The game is won by having the most cash. We played one full round (3 races) With a tie between Tim and Jesi. The playtest went well, and was the last time the board will be used, as a redesign is almost done. I was pleasantly surprised by the ability of one player to make a significant comeback, which is one worry I had.

Medici was next. I've been itching to play this again, after listening to the BoardgamesToGo all about podcast. This is a great auction game, unfortunately we had two new players, and this is a tough game to do well at on your first try. John and I took about a 25-30 point lead after the first round, and we stayed ahead for the last two, though they did manage to close the gap somewhat. I ended up sqeeking by Jon. This is the first time I've played the Mayfair Edition. The extra five bonus on the commodity tracks didn't seem to add too much to the game, but it didn't detract either.

Most of the games ended right around the same time, so I roped most of the group into playing Poorman's Trivia. This is the best trivia game I've ever played, though I'm somewhat biased. The first round we used catergories: Film, Games, and Star Wars. I'm not much of a Star Wars geek, but I held my own, and scored well with the Game catergory ( I was the only one to know Die Macher as Game ID #1) Films catergory was tough. I ended up with a respectable score, but Jon won handily. My questions were:
1. Who was the Actor to play Leia's Adopted Father in Episode 3? 2. Who Designed Acquire? 3. Who Directed The Seventh Seal?
After lots of laughs, we did a second round with a couple of stragglers joining in. Ending up with nine players. No catergories were chosen this time, so the questions were wild and wooly. I believe Dwayne won the second round. My questions for the second round were: 1. What Political Party is Tony Blair a member of? 2. How many Punic Wars were there? 3. Who was the Greek God of the Underworld?
For those interested the rules to the game (which is all you need to play) are posted here. That was it for my night, The rest are games I wasn't involved in.

I'm not a big fan of racing games, and I wasn't feeling very well, so I didn't join in this one, I've been told the mechanisms are similar to Oasis Town Races. I'd like to try it at some point.

I liked this game the one time I've played it, but for some reason the price point has always bugged me. If I find it used I'll probably pick it up.

My favorite word game by far. I'm a little pissed they played this without me They played the folio edition, and I may need to pick it up, I like the light as a timer. They were playing Proper Nouns were okay...very bizarre. At first I thought they weren't playing with Plurals, but I found out later that two of the players were ignoring the big S next to all of their words. I've a feeling I would have mopped up if I had been playing. Jon did actually manage to use the S and handily won the round.

This got played, another game I'd have liked to join, but I sacrificed for my prototype. (Ahh the joys of being a fledgling game designer.) That was all I saw. Attendance was around 12 or so, I was surprised that many showed up on a Sunday night. SFGH is always a blast, and if you are in the OKC area well worth attending. See you in December!

There were a couple more games played. I don't know who all played this or who won, only that I didn't get to play.
