Here are the games that were played at my 2nd Annual National Games Week Games Day. We didn't get quite as many games played as we would've liked due to a variety of factors. But as always, the food was good, the company great, and everyone had loads of FUN!

Everyone was intrigued by this new game, since many of us had played Talisman in the past. While it took longer than the 3 hours listed on the box (about 4 1/2 when we finished), we attributed that to the learning curve and the fact that no one wanted to be the first to try and tackle the Astral Plane critters. The game was tense right down until the sudden death, when the three surviving players tried to outlast each other, rather than fight and die! Of course I drew a battle against the Three Strength ONE Zombies guarding the healing flower, which led to my demise at the last minute The ashes of defeat, mere moments from victory!

After Prophecy, we moved on to Camelot. Considering the game system had beaten us every time we played with the traitor, we decided to leave him out this time to even the odds (and let the new players see how challenging the game system is without human help!).

We started with a plethera of Grail Cards, so the first order of business, was naturally to retrieve the Grail. One lone Knight was given the Grail Cards and set off alone. The others went their seperate ways; challenging the Black Knight, attempting to retrieve Excalabur, and Seeking Lancelots armor.

The Knights fought valiantly, but Camelot quickly came under siege, as the siege engines quickly built up outside the gates. The Black Knight was defeated, and then Lancelot's armor recovered. The Knights held a conclave at Camelot, and three set off to recover the Grail while the fourth went to recover Excalibur. King Arthur remained behind to hold off the Siege engines.

The Grail was finally recovered and SIX white swords were added to the Round Table! but things were starting to look bleak, as the siege engines continued to build up, to the twelve required for defeat.

The Grail was used to save a dying knight, and a moment later it looked like the game was lost as the last siege engine was placed! However, Excalibur was sacrficed to cancel the Black Card and the Game continued! A moment later, the Dragon Quest was filled with black cards, causing the last two swords to be placed on the Round Table! The Game was over, but the Players had won! (The first time since we started playing in fact).

As some of the players drifted off home, it was time to break out the old favorite, "The AWFUL Green Things from Outer Space!" While only a two player game, kbitzing is half the fun with this one.

The Green Things got an average start, and silently took control of the center of the ship. The crew stumbled upon them, killing one. The Green Things quickly counter attacked, killing four crew, including the Captain! The crew reacted quickly, grabing weapons to fight off the evil beasts. Alas, the weapons turned out to be their undoing, as two of the area effect weapons caused the Green Things to fragment, and by the time the crew found a weapon that had a good number of damage dice (the stun gernades), their were too few crew left to fight. The remaining crewman and the mascot fled the doomed ship, but never made it home
