Many games have maps of some kind. On some of the maps, you play on the spaces/regions (eg Risk, Wallenstein, E&T, Amun-Re, Clans). On some of the maps, you play on the lines/borders or their intersections (eg Ticket To Ride, Trans America, Kahuna, Power Grid). In a handful of games, the lines AND the spaces come into play in various ways. Games with area enclosure (eg Go, Through The Desert) do not qualify if the enclosed area and the wall that encloses it are composed of the same type of "spaces".

[This one is a tiny stretch, since the cities also break up the "map". This one entry is a placeholder for all Carcassonne games. I'm not listing them all.]

Perhaps a stretch. In Alhambra, the buildings on the tiles are what score, but the walls on the edges of the tiles are an important factor as well, since walls must line up when placing tiles, and the length of the wall will help your score.

The picture is of checkers, because Ironclad doesn't have any pictures yet.

Ironclad involves two simultaneous subgames played on a checkerboard, one subgame on the spaces (as in checkers) and one on the intersections (as in go). Each turn, you pick which subgame you want to play in, and then your opponent gets to choose your move in the other subgame.

In BaM, the spaces are locales. The center of the locale is the reserve, and the lines separating locales are approaches. If units are in the reserve, they're ready to move but not ready to fight. The opposite is true if they're in the approaches.

Rangers are played to 'bases' at the nexus of the lines; airplanes are played to the spaces bounded by the lines; the projects which players are in compeition to complete also occupy those spaces.

In Energizer each player has big pieces (that move from one space to another across edges) and little pieces (that move from one vertex to another along edges). The position of adjacent little pieces determines whether and how far a big piece can move, and vice versa.

A hybrid of Checkers and Go, for two players. The "Guerrilla" player, using small Go stones, plays on the intersection points of the checkerboard squares to surround and capture the enemy pieces. Meanwhile, the "Counterinsurgent" player, using checkers, moves on the checkerboard squares to jump and capture the enemy.

Equipment required: checkerboard, six checkers, and 66 small flat pieces (buttons, glass beads, small Go stones, etc.) Rules available at BGG entry.
