In the little town that I live in, there's a little toy store called Teeter Totter Toys. Now, as you can probably tell, this place doesn't deal primarily in boardgames, but they do have quite a few on offer. I got talking with one of the ladies that works there yesterday, and she said that they didn't really know what boardgames to buy. I thought to myself that maybe the BGG community could step in and give her a hand! So I'm hoping you all can offer some suggestions for games they can add to their shelves.

Remember, this is a TOY store, so no heavy Euros or Wargames--Kid's games, family Euros and party games should fit the bill nicely.

Here are some of the games they have already, so you'll know what I'm looking for:
* A pile of word games (Scrabble, etc.) and party games (Cranium, etc.).
* A handful of family abstracts (Cathedral, Gobblet and Tantrix)
* The whole range of Family Pastimes co-operative games.
* Blokus (all three flavours)
* Ticket to Ride (but not Europe or Märklin)
* Settlers of Catan and all the Mayfair expansions
* Carcassonne (just vanilla--no expansions or other games in the series)
* the usual Risk, Monopoly & Stratego in various flavours.

I'll add a few of my own suggestions, but please add some of your own!

Gulo Gulo is a pretty well-respected kid's game here on the geek, and I've sure enjoyed playing it with my nieces and nephew. I don't think they could go wrong with this one.

Shadows Over Camelot and Lord of the Rings would be a great step up from all the other co-operative games they have.

I think that many of the Kosmos 2-player games would be good additions. Most of them are kid-friendly and inexpensive.

This has flown really well with every single bunch of non-gamers I've taught it to, and a few even went and bought it.

HOWEVER, it does require that those ladies know how to generate interest. As distasteful as I might find it, this game reminds many people of an advanced version of monopoly, and can be pitched that way.

I'd say Blokus as my first choice. If they had a demo, I'm sure they'd sell a bunch. If they don't have any demos (for any of the listed games), they probably aren't going to sell much (do to the high retail price).

I'd almost want to see some of the card games. People are more likely to drop $10-15 for an unknown game then $30 for Gulo Gulo. Even though anyone who's played Gulo Gulo would agree it's worth it.

Games like For Sale, No Thanks, Category 5, Mamma Mia and Pick Picknic would be good choices. If those sell, then move on to the $25 - $35 games. I still don't think they will sell anything unless they have either an employee that's into euros or a demo version set up.

Place it next to the children's books section. The game is more of an interactive self-writing book thasn a traditional game anyway.

I've played this with lots of kids (at a variety of ages)and adults. Everyone seems to enjoy it, the concept and rules are easy to pick up and the thing looks great just sitting there. I highly recommend it.

The Gipf project is a very good option. (the others are Tamsk, Zertz, Dvonn, Punct and Yinsh)

In Belgium and the Netherlands they even use them in classes in primary school. Can't find the mention online, but did find a shop that gives workshops for teachers how the use them in the classroom. It's in dutch but it's at http://www.spelshop.nl
