COMIC

"Okko is a comic book published in a series of mini-series, or cycles. Originally published in France by Delcourt, Archaia Studios Press started reprinting the series in English in 2006. This series is intended for Mature Readers; it contains adult content, graphic violence, and nudity."

Very french. Original ideas, a mixture of the usual feudal japan with demons, no problems with nudity and violence, interesting story.

Followed by:
- Okko, Era of the Karasu
- Okko, Yakuza Hazu Akai
- Okko, Pajan Gun'Taï

BOARDGAME

No idea, but that's not a bad rating.

A story about a family who moves to the old family estate. It's a cool house, except for all the dark powers resting within. There's dozens of keys spread through the house, each with a special ability.

It's alright, but nothing special, IMO. And the art did nothing for me.

BOARDGAME

Seems to be an ok filler.

"Sin City is the title for a series of neo-noir comics by Frank Miller. The first story originally appeared in "Dark Horse Presents Fifth Anniversary Special" (April, 1991), and continued in Dark Horse Presents #51–62 from May 1991 to June 1992, under the title of Sin City, serialized in thirteen parts. Several other stories of variable lengths have followed. All stories take place in Basin City, with frequent recurring characters and intertwining stories."

The art is amazing. The story and the noir vibe get tiresome really quickly, and all that is left is a bit too dumb macho for my taste.

BOARDGAME

Apparently is terrible.

COMIC

"The Walking Dead is a monthly black-and-white comic book series chronicling the travels of Rick Grimes, his family, and other survivors of a zombie apocalypse.

First issued in 2003 by publisher Image Comics, the comic was created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore (who was later replaced by Charlie Adlard from issue #7 onward, though Moore continued to do the covers through issue #24.)

The Walking Dead received the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series at San Diego Comic-Con International. The series was adapted into the AMC television series The Walking Dead, which premiered in 2010. The television program has inspired a Kirkman-approved full length novel prologuing the comic book's timeline. The series has been translated into numerous languages such as Danish, Portuguese, Spanish, Serbian, Polish, French and Japanese."

It's an amazing series. Screw all the mindless zombie bang-bang, this is about the people in this extreme environment.
I own the books and I'm still buying them, but it's losing its interest in the last 4 books or so.

BOARDGAME

Sounds like a poor man's version of Last Night on Earth.

Groo: The Game – Expansion Set

A simple and quick card game, with new Aragones art.

Comic:

A wandering idiot barbarian wanders from town to town accidentally or intentionally wrecking things and slaying entire armies.

Game:

You run a town, and Groo keeps wandering in and destroying things. Your goal it to have a certain number of buildings standing first (and trying to encourage Groo to go elsewhere).

It plays pretty well, and is very thematic to the comic. I wouldn't recommend it to a board game enthusiast unless they knew the comic, but a nice filler.

Well, since the webcomics are out...

COMIC

"The Order of the Stick (OOTS) is a comedic webcomic that celebrates and satirizes tabletop role-playing games and medieval fantasy through the ongoing tale of the eponymous fellowship of adventurers. The comic is written and drawn by Rich Burlew, who illustrates the comic in a colorful stick figure style."

I must have followed this comic for 3 or 4 years. It was funny and clever. At a certain point I felt the author was running out of ideas so I quit reading it.

BOARDGAME

I've never played and it's not the genre I tend to enjoy. But some people in Lisbon apparently play the heck of it... To be fair, Lisboners have a weird taste.

I didn't really care for the web comic this is based on even back in the day when it was all hyped up. I dunno just never got into it. I do like Frag though, yes it's a dicefest but I rather enjoy this one. So in my getting everything Frag that I went through I had this. It adds some cards and such to give the PVP feel and I didn't like it but I suppose if you were a fan you would. It also added PVP miniatures to play with which again if you were a fan...I traded it off quickly though.

Based on the excellent Thorgal series of graphic novels by the same author of "XIII" and "Largo Winch" (which has now been replaced in the last few novels).

Of the very numerous series of graphic novels i have read, this is by far - bar none - the best series there is.

I have no idea how this game is however... for such a successful series, i wonder why there are not more board games for it?

This may be a place-holder for all the Tintin games based on the famous graphic novels.

I used to own this one particular game as a kid. From memory, it wasn't all that bad... for a kids game made in the 80s.

It would be dismissed as a horrible game by today's standards.

Another entry that could be a place-holder for all the Asterix games.

Asterix is the most successful series of graphic novels worlwide... so there's a more than a few boardgames that goes along with it.

This particular game was a simple roll and move around the board. I remember playing this a lot of times when i was young.
Another one that wouldn't hold a candle in today's market.
