Most Kickstarter/Indiegogo projects are cheaper when purchased in bulk quantities. The purpose of this list is to bring together Canadian purchasers who wish to save money by funding projects together. The hope is that by subscribing to this list, you will be able to follow along with whatever projects are currently being supported by groups of Canadian gamers.

GEEKLIST RULES

If you have a game that you would like to fund with the help of other supporters, please observe the following rules:

1) If you are interested in funding a game and are looking for other gamers to go together on a group purchase, please create a new item within the GeekList, using the same general format that I've employed as a guide.

2) If a game has been listed here but you are in a different geographical area, please create a NEW ITEM so that you can find other users within your area.

3) If a game that you'd like to get in on is already listed here and the item listed is within your general geographical area, please leave a COMMENT under that particular item to express your interest. Hopefully whoever posted that item will keep the item updated as more people express interest in that game.

4) Please leave items in the list until everyone within your group has the game in hand. At that point, the item can be deleted in order to avoid cluttering up the list with inactive items.

PLEDGING PROCESS

For those who join one of my groups, here is how the process will break down:

1) Approximately 1 week prior to the project funding date, I'll take a look at the number of names on the list. If we're only 1 or 2 names short of reaching the next discount level, we'll see if we can recruit those final people.

2) The number of people committed to pledging will be compared to the various pledge levels. If necessary, the group will be split into multiple groups for the sake of pledging, with priority of the most beneficial pledge levels being given to those who committed first. If more than 1 group is formed, a request will be put out for 1 person other than myself to be the "lead pledge submitter" for each of the groups of which I am not a part.

3) The lead pledge submitter(s) - typically me, unless there is more than 1 group - will contact everyone in their group and obtain money via PayPal (or whatever method of payment is convenient) from each person.

4) The lead pledge submitter(s) will then make sure to submit an official pledge of the appropriate size for the project being funded at least a couple of days in advance of the project funding date.

5) The games will (eventually) be shipped to the lead pledge submitter(s), who will be responsible for arranging to meet with each of the members in their group(s) to hand off the games.

6) Each group member shall bust off the shrink-wrap, open the box, take a big whiff of the components, punch out the tokens, and start playing!

If you have any concerns about me pocketing the money and skipping the country ninja you can check out my BGG Marketplace ratings...

I'm writing this quickly, from a phone - will put up a proper post in a bit.

Toronto area group buy, being run by the ever thoughtful Jamie Maltman.
Post with the current status: https://boardgamegeek.com/article/28291020#28291020
2nd page, midway down.

12 copies, filled. We're hoping for delivery at Dec 2018 Tabscon. I should be able to assist in delivery/meetup possible in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville after that.

Leaving it here as an easy way of tracking the thread down, unless you use a different way of tracking it down, at which point I ask why you're still reading.

Board Game: Finca

Synopsis: The gameboard of Finca shows the mediterranean island of Mallorca. Players try to crop and deliver the fruits of Mallorca (such as oranges, lemons, almonds, grapes etc.) by means of moving workers on a traditional windmill. Object of the game is to distribute your crop as effectively as possible in order to deliver faster than your opponents.

From the Box: Mallorca, Island of the Wind. A place of golden beaches and a light-blue sea. The almond harvest is at hand, in addition, juicy oranges, lemons, and figs are ready to be picked and taken to the market. Olive trees bewitch the country with their curled branches and sumptuous vineyards invite passers-by to walk among their warm earth. In the midst of this landscape, your centuries-old natural stone farmhouse provides a home and supports your large windmill: your FINCA.

Listen to the wind, which propels your windmill! Then take in the course of the yearly harvest the sweetest and most valuable fruits from the land. Load them on your old donkey cart and travel around the island, selling them everywhere. If you manage this quickly, you will soon be the richest farmer on the island.

Includes the El-Razul expansion. The El Razul expansion certainly adds a bit of spice to Finca. Some parts just cuts down play time really, but I think that’s a good thing. The other two parts add a bit more cutthroat and interaction, which is equally as good. It’s not like it’s changing the entire experience playing Finca; it’s more like a subtle change in the game. It will definitely make us play Finca more than we have been doing before.

Kickstarter Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/857396480/finca-board-g...

Design changes:
Compared to the first edition, the following changes will be made to the franjos edition:
1) Fruit tiles will have lighter backgrounds
2) El-Razul expansion will be included
3) Board and components will be larger

Stretch Goals achieved:
1) El-Razul Expansion
2) Larger Board. Dimensions have not been specified, however box will be 12.52 x 8.90 x 3.62 inches. Components will also be larger.

Project Funding Ends: Wed, March 14 2018 9:11 AM EDT Campaign over

Current Estimated Shipping Date: Sep 2018

Group Location: Toronto Area. It'd be easiest for me to meet in the following three locations to distribute the games after they arrive (Sorry, don't really travel into the city very often):
1) Around Newmarket
2) Markham (at or near Wood For Sheep - Warden/407)
3) Around Guelph Line in Burlington

Customs / Duties: UPDATE 05-Mar-2018: Canada Friendly Project. No duties/additional charges.

Canada-friendly shipping is possible with enough backers, however it has not been set-up by franjos at this time. Currently, it's expected that there would be additional expenses for customs/duties/brokerage fees. These fees would be divided equally among all members of the groupbuy. If charged with these fees, they are estimated to be approx $7-$10/member.

Synopsis: In Unbroken you are the only one left alive after your group was ambushed by monsters - now you must avenge your friends and reclaim your freedom. A challenging solo game that's quick to learn, easy to set up and playable in a brief 20-30 minutes.

Project Funding Ends: Wed, April 25, 2018 10:00 AM EDT

Group Location: Toronto/Mississauga. Happy to meet near the following areas: King/University; Union Station; College Street Snakes and Lattes(College/Bathurst); Etobicoke Area near the Gardiner; Square 1; Dundas/403.

Prices(CAD):

1 copy -> $29 + $4 shipping = $33 ($33/person)
2 copies -> $29 + $25 + $4 shipping = $58 ($29/person)
3 copies -> $29 + $25 + $25 + $4 shipping = $83 ($27.67/person)
4 copies -> $29 + $25 + $25 + $25 + $4 shipping = $108 ($27/person)

The savings start diminishing after 3 copies so I'm just looking for 2 other people to help bring the cost down to about $28 (a $5 savings versus just pledging alone). Please let me know if you're interested.

Captive is one of the books but I'm looking to get the set of 5 Graphic Adventure Novels

Synopsis: A set of 5 graphic "what if" game books. The five are:
Captive - You received a ransom note that your daughter has been kidnapped. It's up to you to get her back.
Tears of a Goddess - The sacred sprouts known as "the tears of Nuwa" have been stolen by 3 thieves. You are a bounty hunter hired to track them down and return the sprouts before the apocalypse is unleashed!
Loup Garou - You've been bitten and you are now a young werewolf. You'll have to learn to control your powers if you are going to find your master and solve the mysterious events going on in the town of Whitehorn. You'll choose your profession and, using the skill tree, gain new abilities as you level up throughout the game.
Your Town - You're the mayor of a small town in the wild west. You'll build buildings on a map to earn income, create jobs, attract new citizens, and gain a whole host of other benefits (and sometimes consequences) to help you manage the critical aspects of town!
Sherlock Holmes Four Investigations - Choose to play as Dr. John Watson or as Sherlock himself. The unique system allows you to play over and over without learning the solutions of each case until you have successfully solved them. You'll question many suspects along the way... but will you ask the right questions? Will your observation skills be up to the task?

Anybody considered this? About $8USD savings if bought in an 8 pack. I'm not committed yet, but thought I would gauge interest.

I'm in, and we've got some support...

8 pack is $179USD + shipping of $30USD. I received word back from the campaign, and the VAT for Canadian shipments is 5%.

That would be $27.43USD each if the tax is applied after shipping. ~$35.72CAD at current exchange rates.

Extra maps are $3 each (don't know about shipping/VAT for those).

1. Grantos
2. FreezenFire + 4 maps
3. mattromo + 4 maps
4. sdetsky
5. mikemartins + 4 maps?
6. deadeyedshooter8
7. meeplemonkey + 4 maps
8. pHr0sT + 4 maps

I took a flyer and ordered. If there's an extra copy or two, I'll find them a home. CC will be charged on June 14, and I can report final costs. Delivery is January 2019.

7. Board Game: 18Lilliput [Average Rating:8.20 Unranked]
Who Am I?
Canada

flag msg tools
mbmbmbmbmb
Synopsis:

18Lilliput is a card game which includes all of the essential elements of a classic 18xx game. With the square track tiles the players build a track network – starting from Lilliput’s capital, Maputo. There are eight companies found in the game and each player may own a maximum of two presidencies.

A new element is introduced in 18Lilliput: the action cards. Track building, station establishing, train purchases and share buying are all executed by claiming one of these action cards, if they are still available. For experienced 18xx players, 18Lilliput is a short game which can be enjoyed in between other train games or as a good way to round off a nice evening of Rail Gaming. For players without any 18xx experience, 18Lilliput is an ideal way to learn many of the mechanisms from the world of railroad games.

The designer, Leonhard "Lonny" Orgler, has a good track record with previous games like Russian Railroads, 18CZ, and others. (Get it?)

Project Funding Ends: June 25, 2018

Current Estimated Shipping Date: Dec 2018

Group Location:
Fredericton, NB

Price per person for one copy:

€29 + shipping. The benefit of a group buy is that shipping costs decrease pretty rapidly with multiple copies.
* Shipping for 1 game: €16
* Shipping for 2 games: €11 per person
* Shipping for 3 games: €8 per person
* Shipping for 6 games: (roughly) €5 person

Currently, €1 converts to roughly $1.50 CAD, to give an idea of what final costs will be.

---

Note: Due to the pricing/shipping tiers, ideally looking for group size that is a multiple of 3, myself included.

If we fall in between the 3 and 6 tiers then I'll check with the KickStarter project to see how pricing works out. If cost per person increases, the group size will be limited to a multiple of 3 based on order that people joined.

Placeholder for Toronto Area Escape Plan KS Group Buy

Coming July 19th

I'll link to more details then, and it may not even make sense to do a significant group buy depending on how EGG runs it, but this lets us take it out of the general comments on the page.

Oh, and I'm at a work even from late morning until later evening on Thursday, so I might not update with details until Friday... but realistically the behind the scenes conversations about what the deal will be won't happen day one anyway.
