You know the drill, that person that you had a crush on years ago just hasn't aged well, or after a brief conversation you realize that you are SO lucky that the fling didn't last.

What if that person were a game? What games did you have a crush on, that you now regret or have outgrown? It could be that impulse buy based on concept, or the gameplay that just let you down, or another game came along and stole your fickle heart.

My list is wargame intensive, but add what you will.

I really wanted a multiplayer, playable game of the Napoleonic era that captured the glory and gunsmoke. What I got was a big bunch of bland counters to push around. Supplanted by later designs.

I picked this up cheap in an attempt to get a game that would be the same to my son as "Dogfight" was to me...but I miss my biplanes!

After dicovering Settlers of Cataan, this was my next purchase. What could be better than Pirates? It didn't shiver my timbers.

Don't get me wrong, I like this game...But it makes this list because it is so "almost there" it annoys me. A playable global WWII game with a little more meat than Axis and Allies, but for some reason it falls a little short of of my ideal. Grossly unfair of me, but there it is.

This game is here because it can't possibly be as good as I remember it. I'm sure it hasn't aged well, the written moves would be a drag, and the components are crude by today's standards. I loved the subject matter and the game back in the day, and I'd hate to burst the nostalgia bubble by trying to play it now.

Another good game, bought it because I thought the wife would like it. She didn't and now it just sits. That annoys me enough that it makes the list.

Ok, this game represents a lot of what I dislike about air combat games. I admit that I am a flight game sucker, and doubly so if the subject is WWI. The problem with almost all the ones I've played is my visions of fast action are shot down by slow play, charts and tables. Good looking, great depth, dreary and unpunched.

What a game! Aptly nicknamed "wallet in flames" because of all the expansions that you just had to buy, this makes my list because it represents my love/hate relationship with wargames. Too much time, effort and expense involved, but the high point of my wargaming life was turning the Med into an Axis lake by taking Gibralter.

I loved this game. I hate it, too. I need professional help.

I've seen this little game pop up over the years here and there throught my childhood. I have always been fascinated with this game and various other AH games just based on their appearence back then. However, with all these newer wargames, this one is sort of dry by comparison as far as gameplay goes.
