I'm curious as I ask this. What game(s) do you most want to buy, even if you know that you'd almost certainly never play it?

The reason for not playing can be the theme is wrong for your group, the number of players is wrong, the theme calls to you while you suspect the game itself isn't very fun or even it was designed under the wrong astrological sign. I don't care.

Really I'm just looking for proof that other players have these same urges to buy games that they don't need that I do :-)

I've read reviews of this game. I've watched videos. It looks awesome. The various player roles. Production of resources, cool battleships. There's just no way that I see it making it to the table. My gaming groups are most commonly 2-3 people and the last 4 player game I took part in was a 4-hour session of a single game of Stone Age. I don't see Twilight Imperium being a practical purchase... and yet it (and its expansions) call to me like sirens across the water. This is a bloody annoying hobby at times

This game just tantalizes me, but it will really have difficulty hitting the table in my house, and it is hard to find time with gaming groups outside.

It probably WILL see playing time if I ever buy it, if I play it solo (and I probably would!!!)

I love the theme of this game and it plays solo but I'd most like to play it with 4 and given the length, complexity and obscurity of the game, this might be easier said than done.

I'd like to play it. I'd want to play it. I probably couldn't get anyone to agree to play it.

But that wouldn't matter so much because it would expand my horseracing game sub-collection (and thereby partially satisfy my OCD).

I really like the counters in this game (Shiny Counter Syndrome), I have just finished reading CV Wedgewood's book on the subject and have just started Peter H Wilson's Europe's Tragedy. Yet I know that I would not get anyone to play this game.

But I still keep drooling over it on BGG.

Really, really, really want this. Have done for a while now.

However it's hard to splurge the money myself because of the difficulty I'd have finding a decent number of players to churn through it.

Thing is, I know a few people who, like me, love the Reformation period and have interest in the politics and wars of the time. They don't live where I'll be moving back to though. D'oh.

I'd love to paint the minis.
I'd love to read the 30+ page rulebook.
And I'd love to play the game.

But with whom? crycrycry

History was my major in university, with a big emphasis on the Great War, and a smaller one on the British and German navies... so I'd KILL for this game, but I literally can't think of anyone to play with. This series taunts me.

I'm going to add a controversial game to this list. Brass: Lancashire. I'm always reading about how the game is amazing and the collection of no true euro-gamer is complete without it, but my group loves chrome. Loves chrome. Don't get me wrong, great chrome and a terrible game will mean that the game sits on the shelf, but a great game that is chrome free isn't going to be an easy sell.

Has anyone pimped this game at all?

It would be this. I am keenly interested in this period of history, but I suspect this pretty heavy wargame would not go over very well in my home.
