Taking part is easy:

1) Add the game of the miniature you painted as an item to the list.

2) Add the picture of your painted miniature in the comment section for that game.

(use the format [imageid=xxxxxmedium] where xxxxx is the id of the picture)

That way people will be able to better judge your work. Medium should be sufficient please do not use large.

Rules:

1) The image you submit must have been uploaded during September 2012. Gallery images are ok but submitted images are preferred, as they've gone through the geek mod process it guarantees the picture quality and it's also easier to check the submission date. The contest will end on October 31st.

2) You are the artist. Please do not submit miniatures painted by someone else.

3) One entry per person. You may, however, use up to two pictures of your entry to the front and back of the miniature.

4) The winner will be the picture with the most thumbs. You can thumb as many as you like.

5) If you can; include the make of the mini, scale and what paints you used in your entry.

Prizes:

Any tips received will awarded as prizes as follows:

1st place: 50%
2nd place: 37.5%
3rd place: 12.5%

So if the tip total comes to 40 geekgold 1st will get 20, 2nd 15 and 3rd 5 etc.

Geekgold is also given for honourable mentions so even if you don't feel confident about winning you might still get a prize.

I'll round down tips and put the remainder towards future prizes.

Judging at the end of the month and winners will appear in the next months list.

1st place will now also receive an exclusive microbadge! mb

Please give this geeklist a thumb to help get it to the front page. The more contestants the better!

And don't forget to click on the images you like and give the actual images thumbs up as well!

I wanted to test out my old acrylics to see if they were any good before starting on my Splintered Light minis, so I started with the Bilbo and Smaug figures from The Hobbit.

They are painted with Folk Art paints (which, since this experiment, have been retired in favour of newer Army Painter Paints). The also have a gloss varnish, which I wasn't happy with as they looked dipped. Ho Hum, I'm using Matte for my future projects...

There are some better shots on my blog I think.

Cheers,

Giles.

Gribeauval 8pdr French Napoleonic Battery circa 1807

Now, before the WFP (Wargames Fashion Police) get a hold of me, the models are actually Front Rank 12pdrs of a later vintage but the old Gribeauval 8pdr guns were about the same size. I have added spacers between the pieces to better reflect the amount of space taken up by a battery of this size.

All figures are Front Rank
Paints are Vallejo and Games Workshop
Bases and Spacers are from Warbases
Finishing material from The Army Painter.

Regards,

Jim

This is the second time I have painted this model. The first time was a Fathers Day gift for my dad and I enjoyed painting it so much that it inspired me to start a boar themed Orc and Goblin army.

These are 1/72-scale figures by Zvezda, used in a game with rulessets by Richard Borg (Commands & Colors) and Konstantin Krivenko (Art of Tactic).
I've been painting quite a few of these fellows in the last month, but I'm not even close to halfway on painting this game.
That doesn't matter though, as part of the fun and enjoyment that I gave money for on this game is in the painting. I'm having as much fun painting game figures as I do playing with them! (the same is true for many of my other games).

I did not finish anything "good" last month but I like this contest and I fugured that the winners will like it better when more entries are behind them. Therefore I will enter something that will finish last.

I experimented a little with techinques that let you paint one coloured pieces for boardgames very quickly. I used minis that I had at hand and that I do nt plan to use. Here is a Hero of Graxia who was painted with blus glaze over white primer.

He is no beauty but I will consider this technique when I get my next mini-heavy boardgame. (I should have painted War of the Ring that way...)
