Heading into the Fall and we began the month at the tail end of an East Coast vacation. The plan was to end with a Halloween game night with the new TtR trains and a game of Crows but that did not happen unfortunately.

While looking through a container of playing cards I even found 2 copies of Illumaniti and Wyvern.

New Games this month:

We Didn't Playtest This At All
WDPTAA: Chaos Expansion
Bedlamb
Catan: The Great River
Morels
Flash Point: 2nd Story Expansion
Ticket to Ride: 1910 USA
TtR Halloween Freighter (not an expansion, just trains and stations)

The list features games with more than 2 plays starting with the most plays of the month.

I'm not really sure if counting "every" game of this is a good idea. Three of our plays consisted of passing out cards, playing one card and then the game ended. Now with only 2 people it was mostly just annoying but the fifth game went a little longer and we could certainly see why this one will make for a perfect party filler. The cards that require you to avoid saying something seem stupid at first, but got the biggest laughs as we played.

We rarely have a group to play a new game but I brought this out to teach new and it was a hit. Great game that is very easy to learn and which can be played a couple times in a row before moving on to something else.

One of my 2-fer purchases in September also made it to the table this month. This one is "ok" but still a light enough game for 2. I'm sure it would be equally good with more players where tighter scores would be likely.

Finally got to play this this month. The first game was a bit rough as there is a steep learning curve to understand the different cards and iconography...though no more so than in other games.

The set-up is a breeze (compared to say CoB) and it scales very well for 2 players. Our first game came in right around an hour--not bad for learning a new game. The second one breezed by in about 35 minutes.

A couple of solo plays on Utah and Gold beach. Now the game is taking shape for me as more specialist and item cards are needed. Though these later fields feel almost impossible to win in solo play.

While on vacation out East I found this at our former FLGS store--until we moved West. It was sort of tuck away and I almost missed it.

First game was a little rough as things like cider and butter came out and we thought those would be useful. The next couple of games were far more interesting and deeper revealing that this will be a good little game with good replay.

Somewhere down the line of multiple plays we messed up where the goods tiles went. We discovered this only when we played a 3-player game where the A-E rounds mattered more for which tiles were available. We had been playing that you got more points if you finished a section "earlier" in the round (which made 10 points for a finished section more likely later in the game). We agreed to call that a "household" variant of the past and then played a great game correctly!

We pulled this one out to try with a 4-year old while waiting for dinner. It worked great and we had 2 close 3-player games!

More importantly, our friends decided to pick up the normal-size version so next time we won't have to pack this one.
