Fond this game here at the geek and wanted to list it because of the title ..

Whis this entry I challenge everyone to create a version, that is understandable (i.e. either in English or even language independent, if possible)

On a more serious note: This one does look interesting! (And: Yes, it is all about the movie!) The link to the files is in the game's description, so: go for it, folks, while it is still available

I backed this game so got the PnP version, and with Printer's Studio's discount I finally made the decks and ordered them.

I used ImageMagick to convert the files to PNG at 450 DPI, then wrote a script to slice up the images into individual cards with appropriate borders. I also designed a symmetrical card back with a white border.

They match very nicely with the bridge size deck. There are 400 cards, so I ordered decks of 198 and 216, and have 14 blanks - enough for a new power.

Of course after I placed the order I discovered the need for randomizer cards. Those I can make myself. Cardstock should suffice since they aren't held and shuffled during the game.

Last part of the order is four copies of Decktet. I know some games take two decks, leaving two for gifts. With this many cards, it turned out that FedEx shipping was less costly than standard. Woot.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for the complex ones. When I did 18AL, I mounted all the certs and shares on chipboard, which in retrospect was overkill. This time around I've just used cardstock. Still looks great, but easier to store and handle. Printed the manual out as an 8.5" x 5.5" booklet.

The tiles are still on medium weight chipboard and about half finished at this point; to save on toner I wound up carving up John David Galt's tile files in Adobe Illustrator to eliminate the large colored background areas between tiles. Some additional cleanup was needed due to the age of the files, the font encoding seemed messed up. If you've got a legit copy, Illustrator is highly recommended for this kind of work: nothing like popping open a pdf and just laying into the individual elements.

The remaining challenges, aside from finishing the carving up of the tilesheets, are the boards and the tokens, as well as the omnipresent issue of the box.

The boards printed out OK on legal cardstock, though the market needed a 95% resizing. My plan for the map is to use a big piece of artist's board to do a simple bifold with a one-sided hinge, and after mounting the main version of the board over the unhinged side to place the variant version on the back side over the newly set hinge. Hopefully, the stars will align and I'll get something nice on each side.

Tokens are a matter of locating good wood discs. A laser cutter on eBay offers circles of arbitrary size, but properly sized discs that are prepainted would probably be best. The game crafter seems to have some appropriate ones.

I also started on an Ilya Wiz-War build, which has proceeded partway through doing the cards at this point. I'm basically just cutting them out and stuffing them in penny sleeves. Mounting the boards will be easy, but I need to decide if I want to go fancy and use blocks for the creatures, etc. If so, it's off to Columbia to grab a bunch.

My MoV build of a few months ago is holding static at about 95%. I printed the board on canvas via the online image service which does such things but which does not enter my memory now. It came out darker than I'd hoped but is ok to play with. I need to convince my sister to sew a border or backing on, or find a thrift store sewing machine. The big final challenge has been doing the ship cards- two sets were simple enough, but getting the last four done is a tedious process that I've been putting off. I've slotted it in after 18GA. And of course, I need a box.

5 of 7 done. I have the ashcan (black and white) version for myself, but for a gift I made the full color jobby. Started and finished this morning.

For those not following from last month, I have seven nieces and nephews and I'm making each one a game for their families.

I looked at the split oak seat boards of the chairs I scavenged and dismantled in Hand sized pawns and pins: repurposing finials, ... and wondered.

I've ended up with 5 rough oak cubes.

With which I, and any unsuspecting passer-by, can try to reverse-engineer the game of PotzKlotz.

How many stackings of 5 cubes are there? Conditions apply such as: Stack on a flat surface. Ignore horizontal orientation of stackings but include mirror images. All blocks must form a single group. Cubes and cube faces are considered indistinguishable. Contact between blocks must be full face. Resist the temptation of looking at Wolfram's page on the internet.

Does the number of cards in this game (56) equal the number of possible stackings? *
A thrilling adventure in creating a nomenclature awaits all who venture unassisted into this swamp.

Already printed & mounted, share discs have been cut & painted, and I'm currently in the middle of painting the wooden cubes.

I like Open Rails Origins, so I thought I'd try out this version that incorporates a "push your luck" dice mechanic.

I'm trying to take advantage of an unexpectedly warm fall to get some more stuff spray-mounted (I don't dare use that stuff indoors), so I've been working through my back-log.

Since I've recently been reminded how much I can enjoy modern abstracts, I'm trying to build copies of some of the more well-regarded. Amazons seems to always be at or near the top of those lists.

I haven't played it yet, but now I've got it built. Near 10"x10" board, spray-mounted to thick chitboard, and flattened marbles from the craft store and I'm ready to go.

EDIT: typo

I'd already built Yavalath a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to go ahead and format and print off the rules to a couple of other games that can be played with a Yavalade set (if one adds one more color of stones). So I dug up some similarly-sized red stones and formatted and printed off Yavalanchor and Yavalade:

Another well-regarded modern abstract to try. Mounted the board and printed off the rules. For Cities, I was finally able to use these really cool Shinto(?) gates that I got in a thrifted copy of Knizia's Sudoku Challenge. I think they work really well, although, of course, I would have loved to have a white gate.

I'm always a sucker for small-footprint hex-n-counter wargames--I'm doubly a sucker for them when they look so nice. I really like the look of the redesign of this game--I think it's almost perfect--except that the name of the battle is misspelt on the map... but that's a minor quibble.

I mounted the map and the counters to chipboard. The map is sized to 8"x10.5" so that I could size the counters to 5/8" and have them nicely fit in the hexes. I clipped the corners of the counters with a 3mm corner rounder and its ready to go.

I'm excited to try this one out, although I've heard that the victory conditions of fighting until there are two or fewer units of a faction remaining can make this game drag out a bit.

I've also been looking for modern abstracts that support more than two players (I've two boys and they both sometimes want to play against me simultaneously). This one looked really good, so I mocked up a board in Paint.NET and sized it to fit some flattened marbles that I had. This one looks fun.

Any other recommendations for good abstracts for more than 2 players?

I stumbled upon this cool little black-n-white PnP game, thought my 6-year-old might get a kick out of it, so decided to print it up.

But... the cards are just 48 separate images in a .RAR file. Aaaaahhhhh! So I'm putting them into a 4-page document, with trim marks, for easy printing and cutting; each card will be 2×2.4", to preserve the designer's original picture proportions.

So that means I'll also be printing the rules up on a set of cards, and making a little tuck-box for the whole game.

A sample page of the print file I'm making:

UPDATE 2012-11-08: I've got the game made, and the files all ready to submit to BGG, just waiting for the designer to say it's ok (but he hasn't logged in for a few weeks, so who knows...)
