To celebrate my friends 42nd birthday I hosted a game day for him.

Not a difficult request for me. Invite a few friends, have plenty of snacks and drinks and make sure we have enough games to play. Check, check and double check!

Off we go!

Rodney, Art, Jason & Ron

The first of Rodney's requested games. Since we are big fans of the show this was kind of a no brainer for us. I'm always a little leery of starting the game day with a game that has a fair share of backstabbing. However we had the right group for this.

Started withe the basic game. Everyone was soooo friendly at the start. Surly hoping to gain favor in later rounds. As the friendships started to dissolve my brother (Ron) quietly began to build his influence. We had 3 of the 4 sitting at 11 influence when it came time to bid on the hosting the what would be the last games. Since Ron had the most gold at the time we knew he would end up hosting to get to 12 influence. It came down who would win in the arena to share the glory and fight one last time for the victory. Ron chose Rodney and himself for the final battle. As the battle went very poorly for Ron Jason, not having the chance to get to 12 influence played Destitute on Ron since he spent all his gold to host. Ron lost the battle and the game as he went to 11 influence and Birthday boy won the arena match and the game!

Lesson learned - always keep at least 1 gold in the bank just in case.

Game 1: Rodney, Jason, Bill and Me
Game 2: Rodney, Jason, Bill and Me/Irv

Game 1: While waiting for a few other to show up we played a couple of quick games of this. Decided to play Utah beach. Several bad rolls at the beginning gave me a very bad feeling as we headed up the beach in the first game. Turns out my gut was right. We ran out of courage half way up the beach and it felt like a miserable fail. Although that is not that odd for me and this game.

Game 2: An attempt to take the beach from a different angle started off better for us. Better rolls and better luck. Half way through Rodney's brother showed up so he took my place as I couldn't bear the thought of dragging these guys down again. As they made their push to get the bunker one bad attempt to get a medal straddled the group. However the next turn a medal was won on a single roll. But sadly it proved to be a fruitless card and the merry band got mowed down as the entered the bunker.

Rodney (Saul), Irv (Willaim Adama), Jaimie (Starbuck), Brent (Galen) and me Gaius).

Rodney's second request.
There we a few newbs to this game so it took a little time to get going. I knew I was a Cylon from the start. IN the first few turns the crisis deck was pretty lenient on the humans. Nothing to great for a Cylon to get worked up about. Then the ships started showing up. Things went a little rough on the humans but they managed to make the necessary jump and clear the board. This Cylon would stay hidden for a little while longer. Waiting for the right moment. It wouldn't come until after the sleeper phase. Then Bam! Ships EVERYWHERE! Time to reveal and lean on the humans while I knew there was another Cylon amongst us. As the humans were in a really bad spot it turned out that William Adama, who is now the Admiral AND the President, was a machine. He revealed and by the end of the turn there were NO MORE HUMANS!

Board: Chop Shop
As is usually with a full day of gaming. Getting out this little gem is always fun on the brain. Again, we had a couple of newbies but that usually does't matter for this game since it's easy to learn. But for some reason Left Turn/Right Turn screws everyone up.

There's not really a good way to explain the action in this. Just total robot mayhem. Irv got shop up like crazy and managed to find his way off the board enough times to end his night. Jaimie, not wanted to be outdone by that, decided the Pits were here choice for her suicide machine.

In the end we had 3 robots vying for the final flag on the last turn. If it weren't for the wall on one side I never might not have had a chance but it ended up being my savior! 3 Bots withing 2 squares of the finish!

Last Call People!
Since we didn't really have enough to play as teams I thought I would set it up as 10 Min to see how many structures you could build. Since I think it's particularly hard to be the Ugg-Tech I went first. That darn flat piece gets me every time. Hard to tell from the cards if the dark side or the light side is showing. Ended up being my downfall.

The highlight of the game cam as Rodney was Ugg-Tech. He was the third to go and at this point no one had gotten a structure built right. Rodney, without any of us understanding ANY of the words he chose to say was able to get us to build 2 structures correctly! Somehow his mixture of Caveman and Klingon was remarkably understood by all of us. Although, we were all in tears from laughter, we still managed to get things done!

It was a good way to end the night and roughly 13 hours of gaming.
