So this is a special request GeekList from my Secret Santa. I've been good, but not a good enough geek, I suppose, so he's encouraging me to be more active. Step two (after successfully giving 75 new Thumbs in a week) is to create my first GeekList. and I thought I would do a 'Love letter' if you will, to the big man in red.

I think one of the reasons that I grew up to be the nerd that I am was because of what I would find under the Christmas tree every year. Each year I (NOT my brothers) would get at least one new board game, and after dinner we would usually wind up playing as a family. I guess one year I just ran out of patience waiting for the next Christmas, so I started buying my own games.

Here's some of what I remember getting for Christmas as a kid. (Thanks Santa!)

I remember trying to play Clue as a little kid with my mom's old copy. I either grasped the concept of deception/murder very early, or I just liked the board and made up rules [that my younger brothers couldn't follow]. Either way, that year little me got Clue Jr. for Christmas. Perfect.
Years later, after this copy found its way to a yard sale for some other lucky kid, I found a copy of the 50th Anniversary edition of Clue under the tree.

As a slightly fat kid, who loved games unwrapping this must have been an eye widening experience.

Not sure if this was given to me, or if it was given to my older brother (I would have been 2 or 3 at the time).
I remember playing this and not having any idea what the yellow character was, or what she was doing on a pizza

Big, Rectangular, about 2 inches thick. Yep, that wrapped goodie under the tree was definitely a board game. But what? Its so big?
*unwrap*
Oh wow! That's awesome! There's so much stuff!
A million little pieces, a talking "electronic organizer", and a million dollars??? I had no idea what I was in for when I circled this in the Toys R Us Big Book after Thanksgiving Dinner

P.S. I put this out at a yard sale last year, but when it didn't sell I just couldn't part with it.

If the game moved on its own in the early 90's, it must have known to just move itself into my living room.

(At this point I'm really thankful that I have two younger brothers (twins) that are as geeky as I am. Because most of the games I'm listing here either have direct memory links to them, or my two childhood best friends.)

I remember being surprisingly responsible with this game because of the red gems that came with it. If we lost the, the game wouldn't work at all, and that would be no good.

OK, at this point I'm feeling old for thinking "the toys I got for Christmas are so much better than the toys today's kids are getting"
But come on, with games like It From The Pit and Forbidden Bridge vs. "real life" versions of Angry birds and Fruit Ninja, it's pretty clear who the winning generation is.

Sorry kids

Do you see the theme here?
People exploring something, with some kind of monster in the way.
But This one had a spinning Tasmanian devil! I remember not even playing the game some times and just setting explorers up on the mountain just to see them fly when Rex went off.

Santa is a smart man. I got this under the tree, and Play-Doh in my stocking to replace the tiny tub that came with the game that I would most certainly accidentally dry out in a week or two.
