This list contains all the games that either I sold second hand or I just played and did not like enough to include them into my small collection. Every entry includes a brief comentary about the game.

PD: This list is under construction, and it will take quite a long time to complete it.

Rating System and Willingness to play
My rating system does not follow the BGG guidelines that are based on the willingness to play a given game. My ranking depends on the quality of the game. In this list of almost all the games are ranked with a 7.5 or below. Some could be ranked higher cause there are games I like a lot but are owned by friends of mine and thus I can play them oftenly whenever I want to. Most of these game will be ranked with an 8, and only one, Twilight Imperium III, is ranked with a 9 since this is a game I do love and may be I will buy it in the future when I get more room in my place.

Rating scale
10: All time favourites (therefore not in this list).
9: Excellent game I plan to buy in the upcoming months (Twilight Imperium III).
8: Very good game I don´t own for space reasons.
7: Good game, but not good enough for me to keep/buy it.
6: OK game, but nothing special.
5: Average game.
4: Below average game.
3: Poor game.
2: Very poor game.
1: Broken game.

The list with my games is available here:

Highest ranked game I don´t own (Puerto Rico regular version does not count since I do have the game in its Deluxe version). Just played the solo version, and only a couple of games with three people in the introductory scenario, so I dont have a lot of background to write a solid review but so far I think the game is amazing in its solo version and very good with more players. And this is saying a lot since I usually dont like at all these sort of adventure fantasy games. But mage Knight is a blast, a really demanding and complex game that is a delight to play.

This a fantastic game, my complaints are very personal. Only real drawback is that it is very AP prone and so the four players games are long, with a HUGE dosis of time wasted while the other players are doing their turns. This is agravated cause I play very fast and therefore I am specialy vulnerable to long turns (I play in five minutes and the other people need ten to fifteen: boring). If you can cope with this or you play it two players or solo version you are going to love it. Problem is that I have enough two players games I love (Twilight Struggle, Androdi: Netrunner and Command and Colors) and also I strongly dislike playing solitries since I prefer to play games in my PS3 system or just play with my Ipad against AI or remote players. However, this said, this is a fantastic design that deserves its ranking and I do recomend you if you have any interest in games of its sort. I may don´t have it just because of the explained reasons but that does not mean it is not a fantastic game. For me it is a very good one, but for other players, specially solo gamers and lovers of deck building games with some resistance against AP issues it could be one of their top favourite games ever.

Its rules are easy to learn but it is not as easy to master it. Many different options, strategies and tactics. Almost all the games are really close till the end of the session, adding a lot of tension to the game. Nice auctions, good mechanics for the reposition of the materials and a lot of interaction in the laying of the electrical substations. I love it: fantastic euro that plays very well with four to six players. Only problem: keep it away from AP players because at the end of the game they can dramatically drag it out. Expansions maps add replayability but are not a must have since the core game is enough to keep you busy for a long time (it has a double sided USA and Germany map. Some other maps like Benelux or Scandinavia add really nice tweaks to the game, but since I only play it once per month at best, I dont feel the necessity of buying many of them and I just have the China/Corea expansion which seems to be the best one of the loot. All in all Power Grid, also known as Funkenschlag, is one of my favourite games for four players or more available in the market. Just a trully excelent game.

Eclipse is an excellent space 4x game that offers many different options and strategies for a relative short game play time. This game is not Twilight Imperium III, but it is way more playable and I dont miss a lot of things from TI3 (a game I do love). It only lacks its epicy, but I can live without it given that Eclipse is playable on an evening seat while TI3 needs a whole day to be completed. But let´s stop to compare both games since they are very different. Eclipse is very easy to explain although its miriad components can overwhelm players at first glance. As an euro, you can win the game without firing your laser-cannons and this is a thing I like although some people dislikes the fact that turtling is possible (but not mandatory and by no means unstoppable). All in all, I can´t find anything I don´t like in this superb finnish game that is the best design of the year 2011. Its expansion adds new tweaks to the gameplay that can be introduced in your games gradually, some of them (like the nine players game) are not impressive, but others (new technologies, pulsar and supernova tiles and alliances) are really neat.

So far, Tzolkin unveils itself as an excellent workers placement game. It is not just a game with a gimmick, but a very good game with some genious touches like the way the wheels are moved or the way that the placement of the workers is designed, very novelty and innovative. I do love the fights for the food in the Palenque wheel or the timing neccesary for a good sacrifice in Chitzen Itza. The game is brutal and I really think that rewards wise gameplay, and that it is not family friendly since you have to feed your workers and food is somewhat scarce during the game. This is gonna be the very last workers placement game I buy since I already own enough. Components are extremelly nice, sturdy gameboard, beautiful bits... probably the best 2012 game after Netrunner and Terra Mystica.

Along with Caylus and Puerto Rico this is in my humble opinion the best pure-euro game design in the market, with almost no flaws and a lot of ellegance. Le Havre has many different tactical options and variations, and many paths to the victory, more that other games in its genre like Agricola or even Puerto Rico. Le Havre has been very well tested. It is very easy to teach but hard to master. I recommend it strongly for two to four players. For five players the downtime and lenght is a bit too much for my taste, but if the people is fast then you won´t have any problem. Superb game and along with expanded Agricola Farmers of the Moore, this is the best Rosemberg´s design up to date. By the way, both games are different enough to share room in your shelves, and both are among the very best euros available in the market so don´t hesitate in adding them to your collection if you are an eurogamer.

Neat short game; a really nice filler and along with Carcassonne it was my entry level game for a while, but I ended up a bit tired of it. In my book Seven Wonders is a tad above Carcassonne although both are just quite good little games. Fast, funny, easy to grasp, and very recomendable for beginners but a bit swallow for gamers. Anyway, it seems that with most groups this game is an instant hit. You will need at least five people to really enjoy this game at its best. Also, the quality of the deck is not good, given that you will have to shuffle and draw cards very oftenly. The most important drawback for me is its lack of deep. Seven Wonders is a good entry game for big groups but after some time I got tired of it. I can play it every now and then but I don´t think I will never feel the necessity of owning a copy and I think it is somewhat overrated.

Three games so far, so it is actually quite a bit early to write a serious review. First game was a five players one. We liked the game but felt it hard to control since there were several tiles on the table and was tough for us to pay attention to every player village and use his tiles to place our workers. The second game was a two players one and we really liked it better. This does not mean that the game is bad with five, since we have the impression that will get better when we get acquainted with the different tiles and their effects. The third game was a blast, tiwh four players and knowing the tiles the game is really neat. I think that Keyflower must work really well two, three and four players. The mechanics are innotvative and the game is fast and easy to explain. It lacks theme completly though. A neat game you should consider to try at least.

One of my favourite card games up to date this is a fairly good two to four players game that takes its roots from Puerto Rico/San Juan and offers a lot of tactical choices packed in a short playing time (under the hour for two players, a little bit more with three and four). Even with its flaws, which I explain later, this design is one of the games on the verge to be in the collection, but since most of my friends have a copy of this one and it has a fantastic computer version, I don´t really feel the necessity of owning it already. My few grips are: a) the expansions: sure they give more possibilities like the take overs and prestige, but I dont think the takeover mechanics are well implemented, since they add a lot of housekeeping to the game and I see them as a flawed try to add interaction to this game; b) luck dependance, since I do think that among equally experienced and skilled players luck counts quite a lot in the final result, and if you get the cards you need with timing, you will probably win, and otherwise you won´t; c) scalability, a good two to four players game but not a good choice if you want to try it with more players. However, this is not a bad game at all and furthermore I don´t agree with the people who claim it is very hard to teach or learn. Race for the Galaxy is way more easy to understand than it seems to be at first glance.

This is a game I did not like that much the first time I played it. I compared it with Caylus, my favourite eurogame ever, and this is an unfair match since both games are different although the mechanics are similar. Waterdeep is an easier game, very well suited for newbies since it is very easy to explain and the players know from the very beginning what they have to do to get resources, money and victory points, something that is not the case in deeper games like Agricola or Caylus. This lack of subletty could be a drawback, but somehow the game is not shallow and provides enough meat for the experienced gamer. Therefore it is a very special game in this matter, and acts as a fantastic gateway game and also a good game for skilled eurogamers. But however, in a very small collection like mine there is room only for a few workers placement games, and in this league Caylus is the game, with capital letters, and Agricola the runner up. On the other hand I prefer Stone Age as a gateway game. Furthermore I don´t like Waterdeep theme that much.

This is an abstract game and I dont like abstract game at all. So the first time I played I was pretty cold towards it. But after two or three games I was really really impressed. It is along with Reef Encounter the best abstract game I had played with a lot of thinking and some dosis of luck in the tiles drawing. It has some drawbacks, as the analisis paralyisis with some players or the fact that, due to the abstract rules, is sometimes difficult for the newcomers, but anyway this game is really good. Some players just dont get it and I completly agree with the people who think this is a game for gamers. It is a little bit more complex than the average eurogame, not because of its rules (the instructions booklet is very good) but because of the game´s nature and the scoring system that Knizia uses in it. Luck is also a bit more determinant that I would like it to be. ANyway, if you like abstract games this one and Reef Encounter are my recomendations for you. I don´t like them but I can play both of them every once in a while.

After Burgundy, Macao, Notre Dame and In the year of the Dragon this game proves that Stefan Feld is the designer of the moment. The mancala system is a neat novelty and there are many mini games that alltogether create a puzzle that works flawlessly (with one exception, see the critic) and deserves a very high position in the rankings. Eurogame at its best, a kind of rondel-mancala game that offers many different paths to victory. It is true that it feels a bit like a bunch of mini-games that all together form a whole experience, and oftenly this is something I do not like in other games, but however I enjoy Trajan quite a bit. This said, I must admit that after many games I started to get a bit tired of the mancala novelty. I mean, it is nice but after many games I don´t love it that much and the rest of the game is not as appealling to me as other Feld´s designs. All in all this is a very good design on the verge of being in my collection, but not as good as I thought it was after my first plays. I guess I can live without it and play it every now and then with copies of my fiends.

A very well done and innovative system. Dominion is an excellent card game with one of the most original mechanics I have seen in the last years. I dont think that its deepth is comparable to other games like classic euro games but it is still a very fast and enjoyable card game, which offers a lot of decissions and options for its short playing time. Dominion base game has been expanded with several aditions that offer new paths to victory and improves the game a bit. I would rate Dominion core game with a seven, but combined with some other expansions it reaches a better qualification and I accept that its top 25 status is fair enough to me. Although is not one of my favourite games ever it works very well with many kind of players and it is a worthy addition to almost any collection. The core game box get repetitive after several plays (I do mean several, let say fifty or more) so you need more expansions. Almost all of them are nice, but after some time you realise that most of the cards they contain are suboptimal compared with others, so the strategy paths seems to be pretty swallow. Also, with so many cards the game is a pain to handle. The game is really good though, and I strongly recomend it to most people, at least to try it, but given that I only want to keep one card game in my shelves and Android and Race for the Galaxy are better games in my opinion, Dominion was sold after one year. However, I will play it oftenly with other people copies.

I do know the game deserves a better rating. If you like cooperative designs then it could be a fantastic game for you. The problem is that I strongly dislike cooperative stuff. I can´t cope with them. Sometimes I feel driven by one of the players, sometimes I feel like driving the other ones. I like to spoil other players actions (that´s why I do love semicoperative games like The Republic of Rome) and therefore I don´t really enjoy coperative designs. Otherwise the game is fine, it is just not my cup of tea, so you will probably like it if you are into this kind of games.

My favourite game for beginners and family members (appart from the wonderful Crokinole), Stone Age is in my own opinion the best entry game in the market. The original game is enough by itself and supports up to four players with a short playing time and a very decent ammount of replayability and room for expert players since the game is not just an exercise of placing workers and rolling dice, you really need to plan ahead. However, it is very easy to grasp its mechanics and it is also very nice looking what helps a lot to introduce it to non gamers. The expansion adds some new tweaks and bits for a fifth player. By no means a need, but still fun and neat enough to add some spice to the game if you already played it to death.

Somewhere between Agricola and Le Havre, but closer to Le Havre, lays this good resource management game. If your colection is small and you already have Le Havre, may be Ora et Labora could wait a bit, but if it is big, or you love resource management games, this new design is a good pick. Ora et Labora is a trully good game. It is way easier to handle, with less housekeeping than other Rosemberg´s games due to the resource wheel system that I found a genious touch. Game mechanics are wise, well done and rewards good playing. I also think it is a good game for newbies but at the same time it demmands wise playing in order to achieve victory. A great game but, however, I think its replayability is subpar since every game you gonna see the same buildings over and over again. It lacks the replayability you can find in Agricola or Le Havre. Also I find there are many resources and options to get points and you don´t feel the real necessity of feeding your family or paying back the loans (Agricola and Le Havre). Nevertheless for a medium collection of around 75/100 games and especially if you like eurogames this could be a hit. For me it is a good game I can play almost everytime it is proposed but not as good as other former Rosemberg desings.

I am a lover of combat games, and I had tried a lot. Anyway I must admit that I don´t like wargames that much, so I wanted to play an easy to grasp and fun game with room for tactics and smart decisions but without a one hundred pages rulebook and a lot of chrome. Command and Colors was the answer to my prays: hundreds of wooden blooks to glue, a bunch of cards and several dice. The core game is good but not superb, since the battles are too small and there is no room for a lot of flanking and maneouvering, however with epic rules it becomes a winner and it is a wonderful option for two players (I dont really like multiplayer epic unless you play with very fast people). It is expensive to have the whole collection and the components are not top noch, but the game worths the bucks in my opinion. Very good stuff, I rate its normal version with an eight and the Epic one with a nine. As a mater of fact, Command and Colors epic battles are my favourite two players boardgame out there along with Twilight Struggle. Only problem is that it needs a lot of room to store all the base game and the six expansions and that you need to invest quite a lot of money (you will need the core game and two expansions and it is almost a must to go for the wooden dice since the plastic standard dice are really a shame).

*: Score for the Epic II version. 8 for the standard core version..

An instant classic, one of the eurogames of the old guard, it is still very hard to find a game with such a level of quality. The game has two parts: auctions and actions. Its bidding mechanics are fast and clear, and offers an excellent amount of tension for the auctions that are extremelly interactive. Its action mechanics are also very easy to grasp but are hard to master. Goa is a game that rewards wise mechanics and it is very difficult to beat skilled players. A new version of the game is steadily available now, and it adds some new tweaks that I have not tried yet. I strongly recomend to all the eurogames lovers to grab a copy of the game. You won´t regret it. Sure it is a bit dry but if you don´t care about the theme of a game too much then Goa is one the best options you have.

Another Kramer masterpiece. Sure it is not very replayable, sure it is a bit cold, but its rules are perfect and replayability is not a problem in medium-big collections like the average geek ones. This is probably one of the best auctions games I have ever played along with Ra and Goa, in fact I consider it to be the best one. Princess and the Muse expansion adds nice options to the game and lately I'm playing always with it because it introduces into the game new possibilities and adds replayability which is the only serious issue of the original design apart from scalability. Princes of Florence sacales quite badly, since it is a fantastic game when played by five, but not as good with less players. This is the only real problem with this game, but as far as you can join another four people around the table you have a winner here. A clean and classic fashioned eurogame that after many years is still and very deservely among the very best ranked games in the boardgamegeek.

If you want one auction game, this is the one you need. The best one in its league, Ra has fantastic, stupendous bidding mechanics that offers a perfect game for three and four players. I dont recomend it with five, since it turns quite chaotic and uncontrolable. Better than Razzia because of the disaster ties, Ra is a pure bidding game, and that means that if you are not a lover of this sort of desings this game wont be your better pick. Short in time terms, it is very easy to explain but, as any other bidding game, it is very difficult to figure out the real value of the lots until you became more familiar with the system and know precisely what it is at stake. My Knizia´s favourite game and hands down, I repeat, the best auction game in the market.

The game is another solid and very good design by Stefan Feld. The use of dice is innovative enough to has its own personality, different from Macao and Burgundy, both fantastic games by themselves. In Bora Bora there are many different ways to score points like is a custom in many games of Mister Feld. There is something I don´t like that much is such games, and this is that the huge amount of points you can get during the game make me feel that I am not really playing with a plan, like in other games, and that it is very difficult to figure out who is really winning the game at a given point. In such way Macao is the one I like the most, but all three are good designs, very solid games. You can also try to screw other players plans taking tiles or jewelry that are valuable for them and still good for you to fulfill your objetives. Therefore the game is interactive enough for the regular euro, and I am very happy with it since I don´t like multiplayer solitaries that much.

Francis Tresham created the 18xx system with 1829 and improved it a few years later with 1830. 18xx games are quite different among them cause every one has its own nuances and little tweaks that make them very different to each other. 1830 is the peak of the system with an extremelly agressive stock system and a ton backstabbing situations that arises during the play. In these games you operate railroad companies searching for profit. It is a game of stocks and operations, that takes many hours to be completed and many games to be mastered, but it really worths. The experience is fantastic if you like this sort of stock games. It is a brutal game though, you can ruin other people plans if you play wisely (rusting and bumping, check both in the game reviews...). I don´t own it cause most of my friends have already a copy of this game and I only play it once or twice per year tops, so I don´t really need to own 1830 in my personal collection. But this one is indeed a fantastic game.

My first playing Antiquity was probably better than the regular first experience since the explanation of the rules was clear and perfect (by fellow user Witto) and the players were fast and with no a/p at all. It is a long game but time flies when you play it. Easy to explain but hard to master, with different end game conditions (five), and plenty of different resorces and buildings. Mortality and pollution chits will make you struggle to survive in a very tense way. I can only make two critics on the game, first the fiddly little chits (which is normal since I cant imagine a different way to design it but probably condemns this game to be played only at home since is extremelly annoying to carry and very difficult to find a table to handle it) and the lack of interaction (actually the only thing that prevents this game to be present in my collection). Players only interact in the very last part of the game. But anyway this is not a big problem since you will be quite busy collecting your different resources to survive and at least later in the game you will have some fights in order to occupy the best spots on the board and to pollute other player´s territory. May be is not a game to be played every week and its replayability is not amazing (it is good though) but it is definitly a fan-tas-tic game to be played every now and then. I don´t own it because many people in my group have it and therefore I don´t really need to keep a copy on my shelves.

An example of a well done and well tested eurogame, somewhat dry in its theme but that works flawlessly, Notre Dame looks nice, plays nice and is easy to explain and is not language dependent. Some people say that it has no theme, but I couldnt care less, is just an easy euro with neat mechanics like the card drafting and nice bits. Scales really good and I think that is an excellent option for non gamers as well as for gamers looking for a fast competitive and interactive game. It is a clean game in which the smart play is rewarded. One of my favourite light-medium games and a fully deserved top 200 in the bgg. Like In the year of the Dragon it does not lays on a lot of little mini games and mechanics based on the grabbing of tons and tons of victory points that are the fashion in the newer Feld games, which I don´t like that much. I think that Notre Dame is the second best game of the german designer. When playing it just forget about the lacking theme and enjoy the wonderful and very original card draft.
