TJ and I got together this evening for some gaming fun and tried to get Mike involved. But he was unable to come, so we ended up with some great two player games!

We started with Eclipse, as we always do. Rather then make a simple 2 player game, we each played 2 players, so we had a 4 player round which made things interesting.

Steve:
Orions - 44
Human - 22

TJ:
Planta - 42
Humans - 30

We tried to play it as 4 individuals as best we could, and the Orions got out to a lead with ridiculously powered ships and a lot (12 per turn) of science which enabled them to research and build Monoliths in almost every tile they controlled. This turned out to win the game for them without the need to engage other players. And others would not enter their territory because they had one of the ONLY advanced weapons on the board this time around (antimatter cannons and size 9 power grids)

The humans didn't do much, but the Plants spread out ridiculously fast... but in the end could not counter the mountain of monoliths the Orions constructed.

The evening continued with a double round of Smash Up with the usual hilarity.

Game 1:
TJ - Aliens/Robots - 17
Steve - Pirates/Tricksters - 10

The Alien Robots sent units out fast and sent mine back to my hand equally quickly. The Pirate Tricksters tried to curb the advance by picking off the small enemy units and making them "pay" to place minions. Their efforts were in vein however...

Game 2:
Steve - Robots/Dinosaurs - 16
TJ - Zombies/Ninjas - 14

A very close match with the Robot Dinosaurs placing large units out and scoring each base quickly as the Zombie Ninjas spammed small units and stealthily eliminated the enemy units one by one. But the large and powerful Dinosaur units won it for their side.

Sentinels came out next and we battled Citizen Dawn in Metropolis!

TJ:
Legacy
Bunker

Steve:
Expatriate
Ra

Citizen Dawn's minions were not a particularly powerful combination, so Legacy continually boosted us as Expatriate spammed her Tactical Shotgun in her nemesis's face, giving huge damage bonuses. Ra was equally heavy hitting, having gotten his staff in the first round. Bunker took hits for the team, and the environment only fought us once with a train that needed to be RPG'ed to death by Expatriate.

Since we were not in Rook City, her RPG shots did NOT cause statues to fall on us.... *cough*

All in all it was a surprisingly fast round against Citizen Dawn that ended in a victory!

We ended the night with a classic, including the new Romulan expansion. We built a large board with holes in it to make maneuvers challenging. We set it to a 22 point match and started out.

TJ:
Federation - 25
Enterprise-E / Sutherland / Equinox / Voyager / Enterprise - A / Defiant / Excelsior

Steve:
Romulans - 16
Valdore / Terix / Haakona / Pi / Apnex / 1 other science ship...

The Romulans were not as lucky to get nice missions this time and the Federation breezed through their science ones for quick victory points. Despite their best cloaking and sneaking, the Romulans just could not cut it tonight and lost in a bitter defeat. The empire is most disappointed...

Several bait attempts were made for various missions by the Romulans, but the Federation saw through the deception and did not fall for it. This denied the Romulans several victory points...
