Gotta get some of these beasties off the shelf and on to the table. Here's the list of games I most want to play in 2013.

When I first heard about Runewars, I knew I had to have it. Now it's several years later and I'm still waiting for my first play! What the heck?!? I have the Banners of War expansion integrated in and I am determined to get this to the table this year!

Why You Should Like It: RW combines exploration, resource management, army building, and eventually some direct conflict. Plus, you get individual heroes carrying out missions for you as well. Elves & Undead, are in the box too.

I have the base game + Mostly Harmless + Pilot Academy. I have actually managed to play this once, sans PA, but I really like what's in this box and I can't believe my Spieler friends wouldn't like it as well.

Why You Should Like It: it's got a killer narrative about taking different roles and paths in space. Hero or rogue, you decide how you want to play this game.

Combine some very compelling artwork with a meaty recipe-filling, worker-placement game where your success is determined by how well you deal with the adversity the game (and possibly the players if you choose the "Samurai" version) throws at you. 2-3 hours.

Why You Should Like It: Think Princes of Florence on steroids!

Tactical fighting with WWII troops and tanks that integrates a euro-like AP system to keep things moving. The 2nd edition incorporates everything learned from three previous installments in the series and corrects a bunch of stats for balance.

Why You Should Like It: Low complexity (for a wargame) and a short playing time (for a wargame). The system has shaken out the kinks and this is the fruit it bears.

It's a supernatural questing sort of game. Lots of atmosphere and a couple of big box expansions. Focus more on the narrative than the game mechanics and you'll have a great time.

Why You Should Like It: Spooky build-up-your-character-and-take-on-the-Big-Bad game. Pretend you're Buffy if you like.

I love this game. My favorite deck-builder. It just needs to get to the table FAR more than it has.

Why You Should Like It: Deck-builder with a purpose - get stuff to go into the dungeon and kill monsters!

Re-themed Wallenstein (which has since been re-themed back to Wallenstein!) set in medieval Japan, and that makes all the difference as far as I'm concerned. I have the Tenno's Court expansion as well.

Why You Should Like It: Thoughtful game of diplomacy and area control combined with some great art and a fully-integrated theme.

Simply great wargame. The Fellowship tries to defend it's peoples while secretly escorting the Ringbearer through to the Crack of Doom. The Shadow, meanwhile, is crushing the Free People and searching...

Why You Should Like It: 'Cause it's my favorite wargame!

Just a great pin-the-murder-on-someone game set in an amazing Blade Runneresque world. Hard boiled noir reverse mystery goodness.

Why You Should Like It: It is long, but it is also deep and rich.

I've played this once and I liked it quite a bit. Said to have great 2p value!

Why You Should Like It: 'Cause it's set in Middle Earth and there's a nice conflict and story going on.
