I have friends with decidedly divergent tastes in games. I'd love to bring the two groups together but I could use a little help finding games that bridge the gap between the Euro and Ameritrash archetypes.

Feel free to add recommendations that blend these two styles and detail why and how the game might be fun for differing play groups.

Has that American feel with the theme and how combat works.
Has that Euro feel with how you take your actions.

A die that's sued every turn (for the most part) + theme + pseudo wargame = Ameritrash

Variable power, simple "combat", VP, area of control = Eurotrash

Here you've got a game with an ameritrash theme, many eurogame gears but with a decidedly simulationnist, non abstract bent and a deck of take-that cards that you can mitigate. One of my all time favourites, and if you can get the edition depicted on the picture, it looks fantastic.

Evo is a Euro that has way more theme than a Euro. Also, you fight with other dinos (active conflict?) in which you dice (gasp!) for results and then you roll a die to determine if the game ends (there's that "dice" word again).

No one will confuse it with Claustrophobia, but I'm sure a Euroboy frowns at some of the inelegance of this game. arrrh

Upgrade-able ships. Combat. Dice rolling. Randomness. All backed by rather euro type of mechanics for resource management.

"Worker" placement, but you place dice which represents ships. Lots of screwage too in this true hybrid of a game with a space theme!

The randomness of the dice can be partially mitigated by the purchase of artifacts which modify the rolls.

Huge plastic dinosaur minis, caveman riders, battle dice, action cards a big plastic volcano in the middle of the board, and lava balls. This wonder of Eurotrash silliness is from 1993 and, unfortunately, is seriously out of print.

Dark fantasy theme, plastic miniatures, dice-based combat, asymmetric sides, special power cards, diplomacy.

Area control, VP-gathering, lots of strategy.
