Ok. I know I'm not the only one out there who has purchased games, owned them for a significant amount of time, but has still not learned how to play them.

So after some waffling, I've come up with my New Year's Resolution: learn how to play all of my games! So I can actually play them. And maybe even feel better about buying new ones.

I'm also curious about what other games people buy, but don't actually learn to play for a long time. Please share yours!

A year or so ago I read very positive things about this game. So when a friend started paring down his collection, I bought this from him - probably 8 months ago. I glanced at the rules, got confused, and set it aside.

Last week I powered through some articles on BGG and wondered what could have confused me. It's really not very confusing at all.

Moral for me: don't lose hope too quickly.

(Game 1 was great. Looking forward to more plays.)

Poring over the GeekBay is dangerous. You find something you like, then find other things from the same seller that could be great. "So since I'm already buying from this guy, why not another game, or two. You know, to save on shipping." This is one of those. Plus I was moving to Italy, so of course I must have this game.

Looking at the map board and the pieces is very enjoyable, but actually read and understand the rules? Um... I need a friend who knows this game who can explain it to me so I don't have to expend any real effort. Don't have one...

Well, again using the great resources on BGG and actually reading the entire rule book, I am super close to bringing this to table - maybe even this weekend. I am even more excited about this game than I was when I bought it.

Well, this one's a little embarrassing. I mean it's Milton Bradley! This one is pure laziness I'll admit. But I do have a friend who lives practically next door who knows this game. So, why bother?

This is kind of a fake entry. I bought this through GeekBay because I "needed" a block-war game. And, I mean, look at that map!

I actually read the rules and even played two games that were pretty enjoyable. The problem is that Lancaster won both times. Now there is a feeling that if white plays "correctly," that side should always win (read: broken). I don't want to believe it. So I need to understand this one better. Better reading of the rules, maybe?
