My fist game of Lost Cities was with a deck of white three by five cards with numbers written on them in five different colors. Knizia games are by far the easiest to make home made versions of. Of course I eventually purchased an official copy of Lost Cities because of the beautiful cards, but that did not prevent me from creating a myriad of home made Knizia games.

Please list some of your creations. Home made versions are the ultimate compliment. They serve to introduce games to people who otherwise would never have heard of them. I have made many Knizia games which I latter purchased the official version.

Bought some cauldrons at the 99 cent store to make this one. I used a deck of phase 10 for the 1-7 numbers

OK, this one is not my fault. It just so happens that the Five Crowns deck is exactly the same as the deck in this game. In this game it is 0-10 which is 11 cards. Five crowns is 3-13 which is eleven cards. Its a no brainer

Made this one with frogs and 30 some garden cards for the spaces on the track. Once you have the numbers for the horse traits it's a done deal.

No way I could play this game with my four boys. Made this one out of Big Fish Little Fish, 1-10 of Skipbo for kids and a bunch of cubes from Risk

I made my own version of Loco!/Botswana/Quandary/Flinke Pinke. Bought a couple packs of small, plastic sea creature toys from the dollar store, and 0-5 cards from a Rage deck.

This is my claim to fame. I made RA out of scrabble tiles! I was looking to buy the game at flgs and found that it was out of print. This would not do because I had just played the game at the convention. I buy scrabble games at thrift stores all the time for the wooden tiles. I then proceeded to draw the images on over 120 scrabble tiles. I then lacquered the tiles. It came out so well, I just could not bring myself to buy the game when it was reprinted.

Curious George Nutrition Game

I turned this Curious George game into Medici. I just put the numbers on the food tiles and used the different food groups as the different cargo.

Played this at a convention and thought, hey I have dice I have have a marker and some paint stirs. Need I say more. The rest is history. We play this one all the time. Sorry, but they out priced me on this one. I could not dish out $25 for five dice and the numbers 21 to 35

I kinda won this in the G4GG lottery, it was a bundle of Through The Desert & Money! but the person lived in New Zealand so it was cheaper for him to give me some money to buy it myself. I live in a small place so had to wait till I went to Vancouver to get it. I went to 3 different stores & couldn't get it. I ended up buying Through The Desert & Elder Sign. I really wanted it so ended up designing a coin shaped version & having the cards printed up at Artscow.

This one came about when Artscow was having one of their deals. I was looking through Arts Cow Card Sets - Direct Links geeklist & saw Kilgore's Battleline remake that also had enough cards to play Lost Cities. I had never played it before, now it's a favorite for when we visit our daughter in Vancouver, the ferry ride is 45 minutes so we have time to get in a game or 3.
