Bad weather kept a lot of people away tonight, but we still had a decent sized group of nine. It was bound to happen eventually, but every game we played this evening was a "kickstarter game".

About the Game on! Game Night: We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays (plus the occasional 5th Tuesday) of the month at Avon United Methodist Church from 6:30-9:30. The next game night will be on February 19th.

We began by playing this biblical themed game. Very quickly, everyone realized this was more of a "fire and brimstone" instead of a "peace and love" type of game. Multiple times people had the building they had spent the turn planning for swept out from under them.

Kathy seemed to spend a lot of the game in good position and was always up near the front. Brian fell behind spending points for valuable resources, and he never quite got the traction he wanted to get.

The last couple of turns, I began focusing more on points claiming the minster action and using the minister from my palace. I let other people compete over the last couple of building spaces, while I built the temple. The 20 points I got at the end of the game from having the most priest tokens was enough to put me ahead of Kathy.

A group of five played this game for a good portion of the night. They used David's old matchbox cars in place of the cardboard ones. They also played with the dirty cop variant, and greatly enjoyed playing the game that way (even though he won)

Paul (Dirty Cop)- Winner

David B, David R, Greg, Sophie- Lose

Brian and Kathy were interested in this card game, so I taught it after we finished Kingdom of Solomon. Kathy picked up the game fairly quickly, but she overpaid in the first auction and struggled to recover from it. Brian managed to get more boats out than everyone else and it helped him win.

This quick ten minute dice rolling game made it to the table again, and once again it did not go so well for the players who happened to be Paul, Sophie, and David.

The last game of the night was this new pick up and deliver card game. We played a five player game using the badlands expansion. It took one play through of the song Convoy and about one turn before everyone started talking like truckers.

I got to go first because I was the player sporting the best mustache (as per the rules). I was also the first player to hit the magic number of $30, this meant everyone else got one turn. Greg ended up blocking David from the location he wanted to reach. Had David gone there he would have won. As it was, he tied me at $30. We also tied on the tie breakers, so we shared a Convoy victory.

This was a first play for everyone but Greg, and I think everyone really enjoyed this one.

David $30
Sean $30
Brian $26
John $26
Greg $23
