This is my second year teaching a game design class to 7th/8th graders at the school my sons attend. This year I have six students and most of them are far enough in the design process that I can share their ideas with you for input. Thumbs for their game ideas are much appreciated. I will be sure to share your input with them and (hopefully) get them to respond. Maybe I will make that a homework assignment!

I am using the fantastic student game design text created by

Archaeology
7 Wonders
Flashpoint: Fire Rescue

Name of the Game:
Escape from prison

Theme & Story:
You and your partner have to escape (partner is optional)

Victory Conditions (Explain the Objectives and End Game Condition):
The game ends when the two players are trying to escape and one of the players gets caught BUT the other player still has to escape and get out of the prison. (he/she doesn’t automatically win)

Mechanics:
1) Action point allowance
I would use this so that your options would be limited and so the game would be more fun and challenging.
2) tile placement
I would use this so that the board is different every time.
3) Partnerships
I would use this so that it would be challenging so once you get out then it would be a battle to see who wins.

Equipment Required:
Cards,dice, board, tiles

What type of experience will this provide for the players?
What it will provide is the excitement of escape.

I’m not sure how I will...
Make the specific art work And the details of the game :\

Name of the Game:
Gobbo Town

You must build a large, bustling Goblin city to survive. Others are trying to take the same land that you plan to settle on. Build your city to become the Capital of that area before the others!

Victory Conditions (Explain the Objectives and End Game Condition):
Largest City, Most Money, Most VP. Game ends when seven of the card stacks have run out.

Mechanics :
(1)Worker Placement
(2)Area Control
(3)Trading
(4)Tiles (Like in Fresco)
(5)Area Enclosure
(6)Hand Management
(7)Push Your Luck

Equipment Required:
25 Copper Tokens
20 Silver Tokens
15 Gold Tokens
12 Wells
6 Water Tower Cards
8 Hotel Cards
10 Apartment Cards
16 House Cards
10 Lumber mill Cards
16 Tree farm Cards
8 Well Cards
10 Town Hall Cards
10 Court Cards
10 Saloon Cards
6 Car Shops
6 Thief Cards
8 Bank Cards
8 Farm
16 Fields
8 Copper Mine Cards
6 Silver Mine Cards
4 Gold Mine Cards
4 Fire Department Cards
4 Police Station Cards
20 Workers (meeples).
16 Restaurant Cards
24 Water Tokens
24 Wood Tokens
24 Food Tokens

What type of experience will this provide for the players?
Players will be able to trade resources that they are producing more of for resources they don’t have high access to. The larger your city gets, the less room you have, so you have to choose wisely what your next structures will be.

What appeals to you about this game, and how will it appeal to others?
Building a town while also competing for the most land, and the fact that each area on the board will have more of a certain resource (i.e. more fields (food), more rivers (water), more trees (wood), more minerals (money).

I’m not sure how I will.......
Limit how much a mine will produce before it runs dry and money cannot be gained.

My game is awesome because you get to build a cathedral using guilds

I’m not sure how I will.......

Depending on the amount of players and how long it goes, I’m probably going to need either 100 gray meeples, or a bunch of little button like things.
1 dice.
8 hexagon colors for the different colored meeples.
MANY CARDS.
A little scale painted at the bottom for time periods, and I’m going to need a Wooden block for that. (sorry about the big list)

What type of experience will this provide for the players?
Survival Strategy

What appeals to you about this game, and how will it appeal to others?
I like zombie survival games. I’m sure others will enjoy this!

I’m not sure how I will.......
Be able to get all those supplies(components for the game).
