Happy belated earth day everyone. Let’s recount how we celebrated, most likely a great deal of squabbling for resources, deceit, betrayal, murder, and ultimately the destruction of earth and the human race. Will the humans prevail in the fight to save themselves and earth or will we destroy each other and ourselves, que the dramatic background music.

14 games in one night isn't bad plus at one point it looked like we had just over 20 gamers present.

If I missed anything I believe I left the list open for additions and comments.

14. Board Game: Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game [Average Rating:7.75 Overall Rank:62]

msg tools
And finally the late night game Battlestar Galactica with Pegasus expansion. The game started out exceptionally bleak, multiple damages to Galacticacry, the activation of nearly the entire cylon fleetrobot, and the treacherous actions of the cylon leader all before the first jump track advance was drawn from the crisis deckcry. To put it bluntly there was little hope from the beginning. Several spikings of skill checks were unable to result in the failing of a crisis however it was difficult to determine the cylons as a result, with the exception of Bobs natural distrust of Nick and Scott. Due to the bleak situation most players were not able to perform their roles optimally, the president spent his turns repairing, many turns in sick bay, more raiders than the pilots could possibly destroy. Near the end of the game just as all seemed lost, the cylon leader began making repairs to galactica and brought us from the brink of destruction to within a turn or two of victory. However the relentless advance of the centurions from Nick (toaster) resulted in the merciless destruction of the crew.

Steve H – Caprica 6 – Cylon Leader – did not achieve objective
Nick – Boomer 8 - Cylon
Scott- Dee – Cylon
Mike – Cain – RIP
Bob – Baltar – Rip
Jeff – Roslin – Rip
Decatur – Apollo – Destroyer of Scar - Rip

I'll add this as a kickstart to the gaming festivities. It was with NWIBGA members and taking one off the bucket list.

I tried to have this one set up before everyone arrived but it slowly ate up my kitchen table. Decatur and Nick juggled the board while I added in another leaf and still barely had enough room.

Rules explanation took a bit but I don't think it was as overwhelming as everyone thought. It took a few turns before the back and forth of Dark cards started rolling. As always, they seemed to be played at the most (in)opportune times shutting down a few turns. I think everyone enjoyed and I liked it much better with my 2nd play through.

While a lot of people paid attention to Noise as the main suspect, a ton of alibis and surprise witnesses kept him clean. Vinnie the strangler was responsible for the Mons Wolff Massacre. Which greatly helped Louis close the case.

Murder: Mons Wolff Massacre
Vinnie the Strangler (15)

Decatur took off and Christie joined us. This is what Nick brought up after "shopping" in the basement.

Steve and I died in the lava pit and had to wait for the moss-gathering rolling stone to slowly move to trigger the roof opening so we could jump back in. By that time, most of the treasures were picked clean. We emptied the river and I barely escaped before the Boulder, now having picked up steam, caught my coat tails at the exit.

I think seat order heavily influenced the outcome!

Christie as Lea Rice 21
Scott as Martin Fletcher 20
Nick as Markus Bassler 16
Steve as Len Tso Yau/Tatiana Bregovic: 16

The gangs of New York gathered again. Unfortunately, my rating on this game edges down the more I play. Either we aren't aggressive enough (or aggressive too late) or there really is no catch-up mechanism. Maybe playing a few games without newbies might help. But Scott's little yellow men stole the "erection" from eSteve.

Scott left and we played Christie's long time favorite game. I missed Scott so much that I set the game up for 5. So after a reneg (Nick screwed up the deal too), we just reset the game. Nick, though everyone settled on embargoing him, declared it one of his Top 5 games. It was neck and neck and everyone thought Steve had a good shot at winning. He came in last in what proved to be a very tight race.

Nick Green $970,000
Steve Red $910,000
Brian Blue $1,030,000
Christie Yellow $1,010,000

Sunday night, TJ decided to host a gaming night at his place. We started out with a quick game that Jeff borrowed from Kirby.

You do not know which one of the 6 pieces belongs to who, but you know your own color. You draw color cards and however many you play of a single color is how much you move that piece on your turn. You will have to move other players' pieces and maybe some that do not belong to anybody in order to discard so you can get more (hopefully) of your own.

You can get stuck in quicksand (taking extra cards to get out) and trap others as you progress down the board.

First game:
Jeff makes it to the end first!

Second game:
Steve H makes it to the end first!

Fun game and quick!

Bob broke out the game and we forced Jeff to play it against his better judgement.

We had some great fights with the new promo gladiators and Spartacus came up ending up as a Champion after multiple wins.

I ended up winning as Solonius, because he has some awesome abilities to reduce card costs by paying gold.

Steve H: Solonius WIN

The big game....

We started at 1:00am after setup in order to teach TJ how to play. Well... we thought we would probably go a few rounds and be done... but then we were having such a good game that we played it to completion. The game finished at 5:15am laugh

Building on our experience playing a few times, I added in the expansion action and political cards, plus the expansion board tiles and races. I held a few cards and tiles back (shock troops, trading stations, etc..) because I don't have enough playtime with this game to feel comfortable using them just yet. We used the base game strategy cards to keep it simple and keep the game moving, plus initial objectives which give more chances to earn points thus speeding the game up.

The game is more enjoyable the more we play, and we all had a pretty good time with it. In the end, Bob and I were set to win on the same turn but he was able to turn in a few missions before I was (because of turn order) and he got to 10 points first, so he won.

The Imperium Rex card was 2 cards down and we were already in the 2nd Phase Public Objective cards, so we had 2 turns left in the game anyway.

Bob - The Winnu - 10
Steve H - The Arborec - 8
TJ - The Clan of Saar - 7
Jeff - The Xxcha Kingdom - 5
