You may know him as "that guy who makes all the awesome player aids for games." He just launched a new website (you can check it out in this thread about the Esoteric Order of Gamers), which hosts board gaming content in addition to all his player aids. It's pretty cool.

Anyway.

It made me think about all the other board game sites that have something to offer.

Post your non-BGG favorites and tell us who the author is, especially if he/she is a BGG user.

There's a large amount of content, including over 200 player aids for different games. I believe that most of them have been uploaded to BGG as well--anyway, I've certainly downloaded plenty right from BGG files! If you're never seen a Universal Head player aid, you need to check one out!

Here's, for example, is his player aid for one of my favorite games, Runewars: http://www.orderofgamers.com/games/runewars

I have a feeling this site is going to do well.

This site has some great reviews about board games. Nate, the author, is also a staff writer for Fortress: Ameritrash, so it's no surprise that he can write well. The site mainly consists of board game articles (reviews, announcements, analysis) and they're almost always worth a read.

Now, a sample.

One of his more recent articles is titled, "Why Video Reviews Suck, And How To Fix Them." http://sanildefanso.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/why-video-revie...

San Il Defanso wrote:

"But communication is obviously so much more than writing, and as the board game hobby advances, we’re seeing more and more of the “board gaming press,” for lack of a better word, utilize video as a way for them to get reviews out there. I hope it won’t sound like sour grapes from this writer when I say that I mostly hate board game video reviews. It’s not the existence of them, you understand. I think that we need fresh ways of communicating our hobby, and in the age of YouTube, video has the potential to inform, provoke, and entertain in a far more immediate way than my 1200 words ever could. No, the problem is a maddening lack of meaningful content, and the extremely low standard that they are held to by the viewers."
