In the past few years I've become an avid fan of Age of Steam and I've picked up a decent collection of maps. I've also instituted a regular monthly game at my local shop.

I can use your help. I would like to know the best maps for any given number of players. Please list your favorite, or comment on it if it is already listed.

For each entry please include:

1. The individual map name (since many map packs include several maps)
2. The reason it is great with this number.
3. Any other helpful info such as whether it is good for beginners or meant for experts.

Feel free to discuss and disagree. I usually start it off with one of my favorites but since I have yet to play any 8 player maps, I'll leave it to you all.

There are very few (published) AoS maps that even try to support 8 players and this one is fascinating because it is one of the smallest AoS maps produced. Very cramped from the outset, but an interesting map to play.

Central New England (Vermont and New Hampshire together) is a monster of a map with a slew of very painful rules and restrictions that just tighten the screws even more.

On this map, players work as teams to build up each side of the map to reach the middle. Once a player reaches the middle and connects the two sides of the map, players can play on either side of the map, and everyone starts playing for themselves. Technically, you're all playing for yourselves from the start, but if you're not working together to reach the middle, then you'll lose out on the bigger deliveries. It's an interesting blend of the standard Age of Steam game and social engineering, since you want to subtly guide the other players to building track that will benefit you best once you reach that point.
