I am not a huge co-op fan. What I like about them the most is the tougher they are. I want to get kicked around. I want that feeling of doom. The harder the better. It needs to be especially difficult with a bunch of players.

This is my personal list of co-op games I own and where they just happen to fall in my degree of difficulty. This list is based on my experience alone and is not my opinion on the degree of difficulty of the game for everyone else.

Just some basic rules for the list:
1-Only rated based on the max or close to the max players playing.
2-The basic rules out of the box without any expansions or using rules to make it more difficult.
3-I must own the game to rate it and have played it.

A lot of these are with limited plays so ratings could very easily change around.

Two games are head and shoulders above the rest and this one just squeaks by number two.

I have only played this game a handful of times but each time we didn't come close to winning. With 6 players this game is so difficult. We have tried many different strategies and even though we have had games where we were one or two builds away from winning it all, we never *felt* like we were that close.

I would rank this game as my second favorite co-op game I have ever played but my most difficult. I love this game.

This is the game that barely lost out to Atlantis Rising. With just a couple of players this game is farely simple. With 6 players, man we get kicked around.

The game can change so much inbetween your turns and depending on which bad guys move turns can become non productive and fast. We have won this game a couple of times with 6 but we are easily at about 5% success rate if that.

Of all of the co-op games I have ever played, this one is my favorite. Six players is the way to go though. If you have only played this game with 2 or 3, try it with 6. It is a completely different experience.

One of the things that I like about this game the most is that you cannot prevent something bad from happening like you can in so many other co-op games. You can't trade cards, or crystals, or use some ability to prevent the negative. If the card of that bad guy is drawn he is moving forward and there is nothing you can do about it. I love that.

I think big part of this game is that I am just not that good at it.
We have only played this a few times but each time we never even made it through half of the deck. I did see the game won and even that looked pretty painful.

I don't really have enough plays with this game to determine how much I like it, but so far I enjoy it and would like to play it more.

Our success rate in this game hasn't been too bad. We are getting near the average portion of the list. We have had some terrible games of this but we are probably winning at about a 45% rate.

I like this game better than I thought I would when I got it.

I have had alot less luck with this game with less players. Usually we do ok when we have the max. The abilities of the players really helps. Overall we probably beat this game at around 50% of the time.

I wasn't sure where to put this one. In my experiences with this one, trading is the entire key to the game. Maybe our cards have been lucky but in games where we do alot of trading we have some good success and games where the trading is few, we have lost and lost hard. I originally got this game to play with my kids, but they are still too young.

Other than Arkham Horror, this was really the first co-op game I have ever played. I enjoy this game but there is one issue that we run into alot that I am just not a big fan of. Near the end of the game when you have more than enough white swords you want to purposely fail a quest to end the game. Obviously that doesn't always hold true depending on how close you are at the time, but almost every time we play this I can't help but think, man if we could fail this quest it would end the game and we would win.

We usually win this game but it's always very close.

Another game where just maybe our luck is really good. We probably win at least 80% of the time. Not sure why, but rarely do we feel like we are in serious trouble in this game.

Another game that we just seem to have very little trouble with. I think we have a really good system in place and everyone in my group has no issues whatsover throwing cards at people to help them out. Well except for our resident "take that" player, but I think every group has one of those right!

Alot of our games do come down to the wire, but we have rarely lost this game.

Originally I owned Arkham Horror. For me, it is an OK game. It definitely has one of the things I love about it, that it is very very difficult. I just could never really get into it for some reason or another. I purchased Elder Sign because I heard so many people tell me "Arkham Horror Lite". I do like Elder Sign and I will definitely get the expansion when it becomes available, but this game is easy.

Even when you are having bad luck with the dice, the cards just don't add enough doom tokens to the track. We have at least 20 plays of this game and we have never lost. To be honest more than half of our games it isn't even close. I would say the closest we came to losing was 2 doom tokens away.

Maybe I am in the minority here but I have never once felt like we were about to get smoked. I like the game and I have given it a pretty good rating. I just wish it was harder. I know we could make house rules to change the difficulty but I want hard right out of the box.

I have an early pnp version of this, and I have found this one to be very challenging with a number of decisions to make. The actual release later this year is supposed to change a few things, but it's supposedly still fairly similar. I'd strongly recommend this one when it comes out!

Maybe its lack of coordination, but this game can be really hard.
I really enjoy it (enough to buy my own copy), but until I get a lot more practice, I'm going to have to get used to losing...

I love that this game has so much theme in such a little box. It's a very simple game, but can be very difficult and a lot of fun at the same time. Makes a good filler co-op as well.

This has quickly become one of my favorites. Play feels very similar to Space Hulk: Death Angel, but on a more epic scale. And, like Space Hulk: Death Angel, sometimes the dice just screw you over. But at least on this one you have the chance to revive teammates and keep going. Lots of great miniatures and map pieces, too.

This one is a little older, but if you want a game that gets really hard with the max amount of players, this is probably the closest one next to Arkham Horror for me. It's a game about people making sacrifices for the good of the group, and sometimes someone may need to get eliminated so the rest can continue on to win the game.

Out of the box, the game only plays 1 or 2 players, but there are ways to make it work for 4 (just need two threat trackers and enough cards).

With the plethora of expansions / scenarios available, you can make this game as easy or as difficult as you want.

Biggest negative is finding people who want to play it, and the cost of entry is pretty high.
