LankyEngineer originally created these surveys to provide a fun diversion that would get the community talking about their hobby. Along the way, we've learned a lot about BGG and its users.

Please note: he has started a 10 Questions Series Subscription Thread.

Please answer all of the following questions in a single geeklist entry.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
Not counting games on my unplayed list, I'd have to say Indigo. Bought it last weekend, and my wife is really pushing to get it back to the table, and I'm excited about it too.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Probably Power Grid (which is also the highest-ranked game I own.) I mean I haven't played it yet and would like to, but I'm worried that it won't work well for my family, so letting it go before even trying it wouldn't be the end of the world to me.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
I think I'd like to be a knife. You get to be active in the preparation of food, but very rarely do you find yourself in anybody's mouth.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
I think Stone Age is the answer. When I first played it I adored it and couldn't get a copy fast enough. Then, after trying to play it with my family a couple times, and suffering through an agonizingly long game at a gameday, I felt no remorse trading it away.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
The rulebook for Lord of the Rings was very poorly organized. I don't know if the newer Silver-Line edition has a better rulebook, but I think the original might have been a barrier to entry on this superb game for some people.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
I'm afraid of changing anything major, because I don't know what kind of ripple effects it might have. I think I would just change something in my own life, like stopping myself from buying a car that was out of our price range shortly after we got married. Then, perhaps I wouldn't be fighting debt.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
I can always throw in any question I want, so I've got the best odds of all.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
This is a tough question. I provide all the games we play with family and friends, so I think I'd need about 25 at least, and even that feels limiting. Maybe 50.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
I was playing Vegas Showdown with some friends. One player had bought a High Rollers Room early and sat it off to the side waiting for Table Games. The first 2 passed her by, and she started to freak out, but I assured her there was one more in the stack. When it came out she basically told everyone she must have it, and she would not be happy if she was outbid. Well, only one of us had the money to outbid her. He did, despite the fact that he had no interest in it at all for himself. As a result, she threw her chips across the room, said "I QUIT!" with a white hot rage, and left the room.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I'm always annoyed that there are hardly any good Bible-themed games, so I've had this vision of a game about the apostles spreading the Gospel. Essentially it would be like Pandemic in reverse, because you would cooperatively try to spread the gospel, but there would be opposition that would be fighting to quash the truth.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
Lots of reasons. My family not liking it is the biggest. I also abandon some games because they're just average, or too similar to a better game. With so many great games in my collection it just doesn't make sense to hold onto so many games that are only OK.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
Really liking this one. Paid attention to it after it won the Geek Madness. Bought a copy cheap to try out. Christie likes it to which is a huge bonus. We are working our way through the base game match-ups right now but can't wait to crack open the expansions.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Dominant Species #16. It was OK but other games scratch the itch better.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
Garbage Disposal. Wait, that is what I am now. Food processor since my wife wants one bad. No double meanings there....

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Probably Sentinels. I was lukewarm on the idea after the first play and just felt it was some generic rip-off of comics. But then the Infernal Relics KS came out and it piqued my interest a bit more. Then I really came to love the Universe and all it had to offer. Now I am addicted to it.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Arkham Horror. It needs it bad.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
All things happen for a reason. My butterfly effect would probably cause mass destruction.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
Slim to none.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
42. Maybe. I tried so hard to get to 500 and now that I am there, I need to find the best number to get down to, which alludes me. 100 just doesn't seem to cut it. Maybe 400.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
Personally nothing. On TV, the Soprano's Monopoly incident.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
A front office type football game. Something that lets you wheel and deal with free agents, drafting, filling the gaps in your positions but the actual football game play is just something to translate that effort into victory points.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
Duplicates. Why else would you get rid of a non-bad game!

Bonus Question:
11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?

What question should replace Question 0 as a new representative image for your entry?

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

Probably imperial. I've never been that fond of it really.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

I would be a spatula. From spatula city.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

Probably Notre Dame. I hated it to begin with, but after playing 4 or 5 times i can appreciate the game. It's unusual for a game to take that many plays for me to get what's going on.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

Goa. Auctions would keep going around the table until one person was left in the bid.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

Haleys comet would crash into the earth if I had my way! Muahahahaha!

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

The odds are not good. I never ask a serious question though.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

Maybe 100. It seems both too many and not enough.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Probably table flipping incidents involving axis and allies. I never found all of my pieces. Really though, if you go after someone, gaming rage should at some level be expected.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

I'm not at liberty to say. But it involves a full scale model of haleys comet, and something hurtling towards the earth. into a table. Sort of.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

I got rid of TI3. Partly because of a few broken mechanics, cards that are too chaotic, and I knew I could get something for it.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

Just bought a copy of Genoa cheap from a friend. Looks like a great lighter game for our group. Shame I'm not going to see them for three weeks. cry

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

GIVE away? For free? Are you mad?

I do a good trade in making PnP games for people on the European Chain of Generosity, so if they count, then Zombie in my Pocket.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

A blender. I'm loud, versatile, practical, efficient and have a great chopper.

Ahem. Sorry.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

It's not an original thought, but probably Dominion. Like all people, I was a bit lukewarm at first, but now we play it 'most every weekend.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

Snowdonia. I begged to be allowed the chance...

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

I'd like to go back to 1985 and relate the plot of Back To The Future to Robert Zemeckis. Could get interesting.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

I am entirely indifferent.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

I could probably trim down to about 100. I might struggle beyond that.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

One guy stormed off after a game of Cosmic Encounter after claiming we were all not being competitive enough. I've also seen a guy threaten to leave his own living room out of discontent with Pandemic. And a recent game of Hanabi ended with one guy just calling out everyone's cards because he couldn't handle the subtlety.

Oh no, wait. That was all the same guy. Love's ya, John.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

My pet project is a cross between the classic Palm Pilot game, Space Trader and the multitudinous alien races from the Star Wars trilogies, along with extra worker placement and hand-management.

Even if I release it as a print-and-play, it would cost a fortune to mount, given the amount of cardboard required.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

Missing bits after a charity shop purchase is relatively common (I once bought Loopin' Louie only to discover it with a grand total of five original pieces.

Coffee damage put paid to my copy of Masterpiece.

Trading, obviously. I've thrown in a fair few sweeteners into trades.

Occasionally I clear the shelves of PnP's for the aforementioned Chain of Generosity and do a big giveaway. Not necessarily all bad games.

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?

Describe your ideal games night in terms of a) games played, b) company, c) beverages and d) food...

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

It's a game my dad and I designed and really enjoy playing it. We just updated the cards and I'm curious as to how they change the gameplay.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

GIVE away? I assume that means I own it. To give? Setters of Catan probable. Trade away? I'd trade Twilight Struggle if the right trade came around.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

I have honestly never thought about this. Let's go with spoon because I like ice cream.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

First thought - Killer Bunnies. At first I thought it was cute and fun ... but after all of the expansions, I think it's too complicated and even if I look past the ridiculous end game mechanic, the complicated expansions hurt it for me.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

none. After trying to write the rulebook for Lords of Baseball, I'm convinced writing rules is basically torture.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

I'm a sports guy and since sports are so minor in the scheme of things, I figure it's a safe answer. I'll say Mariano Rivera's blown save in game 7 of the 2001 World Series. Even more than the Yankees blowing the 3-0 lead in the 04 ALCS, this stings more.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

not likely.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

At least my top 20 ... plus a few more. So, 30?

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Lucky that I don't see it too often. Probably something at WBC at a table I wasn't at.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

My dad and I are working on a few projects including a football version of Lords of Baseball.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

I trade games that I don't see my family liking or games that I just don't like.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
Quite a few on my unplayed list, but I think this one is just intriguing and likely to be requested pretty soon. (And somehow I forgot to put this on my unplayed list months ago.)

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Sad to say, but probably Merchants & Marauders. It's just too long and heavy when all I want is a game to scratch that pirating itch. That being said, the highest ranking one I'm already willing to give up is Catan.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
A microplane. Mostly because I think it's a cool utensil. Useful for everything from hard cheeses to fresh nutmeg to citrus peels.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
It's easily Dominion. Originally just wasn't a fan, but it grows on me with every play. I definitely prefer to get some cards in the mix that promote interactivity.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game needs one. It's just not laid out logically, and a lot of things could be moved to an FAQ/exceptions section at the end. Also needs a better index.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
If Doctor Who has taught me nothing else, it's that you don't mess with history. But I certainly think stopping some tragic event would be worthy - the Holocaust, for example.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
That presumes I think of a good question to offer, which I haven't recently!

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
At first blush I can think of at least 30 games I'd be in real trouble with my better half if I tried to get rid of. On top of that we like some variety to try new things or dust off old favorites. I'm going to say 75 would be doable. But I'm not interested in down-sizing right now! (Although I am trying to not expand too much, either.)

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
I can't recall the game, but I do remember a friend once was so fed up because he saw no way that he could win, and he walked away. We had to figure out how to "deal him out" which wasn't easy.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
All of the ideas I've had usually center on the arts - I had one idea about an orchestra (still mulling it over). I also think that dance could make a good theme, but the gameplay concept is eluding me.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
Almost always it's because it just didn't work for our group. In a few cases I loved the game, but no one else did (case in point: Time's Up! Title Recall!). Lately I'm putting more focus on trading away games that got a lukewarm reception from our group - because the reality is while it didn't seem bad, the so-so feelings mean it won't get pulled off the shelf anytime soon.

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?
Tell us a game that is more than a decade old that you think deserves a fresh reprint.

I am listing Myrmes because it will be the next game I open when I reach my next goal weight.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
For a really good cause, I would give away almost any game because I could replace it. Assuming I couldn't replace it, I would give away Dominion Intrigue. It just doesn't get played enough.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
The top pan of a double broiler. Why? Because it's used for melting chocolate!

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
I was going to say Traders of Carthage. I think it's actually Settlers though. I LOVED Settlers when I first learned it. If I never play it again, I'd be okay with that.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
De Vulgaria Eloquentia.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
Wow that would be hard to choose just one. Maybe the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. I don't think I can even imagine the things he could have accomplished in his life.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
Not good. It's probably been asked before.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
I think I could live with 50 comfortably if I couldn't trade or buy more. If I could trade that number would be much lower, around 20.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
My neighbor has walked out a couple of times. I think the rage comes after he arrives home.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
A game about scuba diving.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
Length. They don't get played often at my house so I only keep my favorite long games.

Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?
Name a game you think you should give a second chance to play again.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

I'm an addict.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

Tigris and Euphrates. I actually like the game a lot but it has been over shadowed by many other games and I haven't played it in awhile

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
Juicer, mmmmm juice.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

Probably arkham horror. The first play involved eight people being frustrated for 2 hours then quitting. It is one of my favs now.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

Arkham horror for the reasons above.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

Ok I'll be the one that stops hitler. Maybe we wouldn't have such a huge military industrial complex.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

Almost guaranteed.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
I don't know. I was going to say just magic but if I was forced to I could probably get it down to 25-50.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Never really. Once when I was young my brother knocked over the stratego game I was playing against my older brother and I WAS WINNING!!!

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

It involves collecting famous art from all history.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

I have given games to friends that I knew they liked more than me.
Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next list?

What is the most fun you have ever had playing a game?

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

Escape: The Curse of the Temple because I like the idea of real time games.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

Blood Feud in New York

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

A blender because I am good at mixing it up.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

Dungeon Lords - it fell flat very quickly.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

Most Vlaada Chvatil rule books. I really do not like the story telling aspect and trying to make them comical. Just give me the rules.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

I am not sure I would change anything. Changing time/history is a tricky thing and most probably would have many unattended side effects.

Plus, I am me due to what has occurred. To change anything would only mean to change myself. I am happy where I am.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

That depends on how much I offer you............

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

300 - That way at least it fills my shelf space.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Someone holding a grudge for over two years due to events that had nothing to do with gaming and were not a personal attack. Someone just got their panties in a wad an acted like a 6th grader.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

A master game that plays with other games running inside it.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

Can't say that I have.

I have given many games away to others that wanted them, but I did not like them anyway so it was no skin off my back.

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?

How much will it take to bride Ben to pick this question?

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

I'm (currently) fascinated by 2038: Tycoons of the Asteroid Belt. The time commitment required makes it unlikely that I'll get it to the table any time soon; but it looks amusing. I suspect some of that is counterproductive: the track play is one of my weakest skills in a "real" 18xx game; 2038: Tycoons of the Asteroid Belt turns that on its ear.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

None? (That's the answer for "to someone I don't know." I'm not terribly virtuous.) If past performance is any indication of future results (hint: it's not!) I've given away a copy of Modern Art _7.7_ and Verräter _7_ to friends.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

A small paring knife. I admire utility and generality: so being some special purpose only-good-for-one-thing gadget would irritate me. I've a 3" Henckel twin-pro that gets used more than all the other knives in my drawer; so that's likely the one I identify with most. If I couldn't have that one, the 7" chef's knife is next in my pantheon of usefulness. (And the little Kyocera ceramic knife, while delightful, is too fragile to make the grade.)

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

Probably still El Grande. I really disliked my first play, and yet am currently very fond of the game. There've been several other games which have moved in the other direction, too: notably Chaos in the Old World, Ora et Labora and 51st State.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

I found the rulebook for Overthrone particularly awful. Would I choose to rewrite that one? Possibly not: I don't know if the game is "worth it", since I've not been able to play!

I bounced off the rules for Age of Renaissance on four or five attempts, and ended up selling my copy. Would I choose that one? Perhaps: I'm told the game is pretty good (and I'd likely enjoy it.) But I no longer own a copy; I'm less motivated.

I had a hard time learning Up Front from the original rules. Yet having played (and, as a consequence, having more-or-less vague memories of the way things are supposed to occur) I find the rules to be very helpful in looking up concepts and constraints as required; I might leave those alone.

I find the rules to Return of the Heroes particularly annoying. But I wouldn't choose that to rewrite: I don't think the game deserves much better than it currently enjoys.

Perhaps the ruleset I'd be willing to tackle is Pax Porfiriana. The rules are quite functional as is; but they require digging through the card encyclopaedia to discover the complete ruleset. I think there's a possible alternate ruleset that might making the game more approachable for a larger audience - and that's something that could be worthwhile: the game is very cool.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

Unintended consequences are icky. I suspect I should everything alone - even though the superficial appearance of benefit might argue otherwise. But, selfishly, there are a couple instances when I was younger when I treated someone rudely out of intent (as opposed to the many instances when I was rude through inattention, foolishness, or stupidity.) I'd like to undo those (though, again, the first sentence applies.)

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

I have no such chance, since I won't be suggesting a question!

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

Fun question. If I had no opponents (and no chance of acquiring any) I wouldn't need any games. Or if my normal playing was with folk that owned All The Games, I wouldn't need any myself.

My current silly-sized collection is fun, because I can usually find a game that any potential opponent might enjoy playing. But it contains many that I don't begin to need. Many that are there because some historic opponent really enjoyed it. Many that my kids liked when they were younger (or that I foolishly bought thinking that they might like when they were older.) The set that are "for me" is a relatively modest subset.

In the extreme, and with the appropriate opponent(s), I could likely be content only playing Go, or Bridge, or 1830, or Magic Realm. There have been several chunks of time in my past when I primarily played a single game (Hearts; Bughouse Chess; Backgammon; Rook all had primary runs of more than a year.) I suspect I could survive a single game, under the appropriate circumstances.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

I try not to remember such things. If I'm at fault, I'm particularly embarrassed later; if others are at fault, I try to avoid Category Error and presume that the mishap was provoked by something perfectly understandable yet outside my knowledge.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

Despite the recent appearance of games in the "Start-up company" genre (Startup Fever, Ground Floor) I have an idea or three that might still provoke a game in that realm. Fortunately, there's no overlap yet between my delusions and any game I've yet seen - so it might yet happen. I'm in no hurry, though.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

I've given games away (when I find a friend that likes the game better than I do) and sold games. (Though, I fear, that I'm not good at selling things. I'm uncomfortable with setting prices, and it takes me a while to adequately describe a game for sale - and longer to wrap and package it in a way that I'm willing to mail. I begrudge the time of standing in line at the post office, and haven't (yet) explored alternative means of sending anything that is easier on my time. The time cost to me of selling games exceeds any profit I might make, so I'm disinclined to pursue it.) I've even traded games a couple times (though I'm finding that pretty hard at present: the games I currently want aren't particularly mainstream, and so it's hard to find even vaguely equitable and viable trades.)

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Dominion. After playing it a few times, I have no use for it. It bores me.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
I don't understand the question. Am I supposed to pick being one inanimate object over another? How about we go for different rocks, or alloys? Maybe circuits or resistors?

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
I can't say - too many games, too many years. Although Through the Ages has probably been the best about not going down, over time.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Too many candidates. Doing one would just be a drop in the bucket. But let's start, for the hell of it, with getting a new rules writer for Phil Eklund.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
There's good reason for sticking with "better the devil you know". Otherwise, I'd say kill Hitler before he got in power. What I fear the change might be is an even stronger Germany, that possibly still goes down the Lebensraum path, with greater success. If you're going to leave a dicator in power, let him be an idiot. They usually have a short shelf life.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
I'll be betting against me.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
Probably 500. "Content" was the operative term.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
My father, when I was 12, and I had trounced him in 3D chess. He didn't like that.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
A game covering the initial exploration and colonization of interstellar planets - something of a race to find and claim the best planets, and wrest a living from them.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
There are games that aren't bad, but just aren't very good, either.

11) Name the one game you own you'd be most embarrassed to admit having it, to a non-gamer.

High Frontier is one of my favorite games, and one (of many) that don't get played nearly often enough. There's a possibility of a PBF game starting soon which I'm looking forward to, but it's never quite as good as a real face-to-face play.

Quote:
1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Agricola, Puerto Rico, Power Grid, Caylus... I'd willingly give a copy of any one of those to someone that lived nearby and was able (and willing) to actually play them with me on a regular basis.

I have no desire to give a game away just to get rid of it.

Quote:
2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

Ninja! ninja
Who wouldn't want to be a ninja, if given the chance?

Quote:
3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

The first time I played Caylus many years ago it didn't go well. I think I may have actually won that game, but it seemed like a jumbled mess at the time. It wasn't until several years later when I looked up the rules and read them for myself that it became clear that the problem was a poor/incomplete rules explanation. Now it's one of my favorite games.

Quote:
4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

Rewriting the rules to Pirates of the Spanish Main has been one of my (now very) long-term goals. It's a great game, but almost anyone that has played it will agree that the rules are a mess, mostly due to ambiguities and missing information. There's a really nice compilation set in the files section that combined everything from the various editions of the rules, but it's still the original framework.

Someday when I've got a lot more more spare time I may try to tackle it.

Quote:
5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
No clue. If I think of something, I'll edit it back in.

Quote:
6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
Considering how few extra questions were provided last time and in previous rounds, I'd say fairly good - upwards of 50%.

Quote:
7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
This question is clearly a trap, and I refuse to answer it.

Quote:
8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
I've managed to avoid most of the really crazy stuff over the years, but one event that sticks out was back in college when we were playing a game of Mage Knight Dungeons. One of the others managed to roll snake eyes three times right in a row, screamed, then stomped away and wasn't seen for the rest of the night.

(In Dungeons, rolling a 2 is the worst possible result. Not only does it automatically miss the target regardless of stats, it also causes damage to the attacker!)

Quote:
9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
A few alternate versions would be cool to see, like a full-on Podracer version of Snow Tails, or a Crimson Skies retheme of Merchants & Marauders.

Quote:
10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
N/A

Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?

If board game companies produced "generic" versions of their games that played the same mechanically but had very basic components and the themes were mostly stripped away, how much less (in %) would they have to cost for you to prefer them over the full "name-brand" versions?

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.I really enjoy this hidden traitor game, but it's hard to get it to the table at the moment because of duration and theme.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?I guess it would be Dominion. My wife burnt out on it a few years ago and we never play it now. I also personally prefer Thunderstone as a deck builder.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?I think I'd like to be a Spatula (the Frying kind, not the Baking kind)... I'd be really useful and help to make breakfast.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? Probably Zombies!!! When I first played it I really liked it, but having played lots of other games since then, I see how annoying and flawed it is.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?Probably Death Angel card game... I struggled so much with learning the game from that rulebook.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?Although I think the consequences of changing it might be too severe (because of how I've changed and who I've met since).. I would probably try and find a way to stop my Dad from dying.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist? If I had a question to ask, then my odds would probably not be too bad.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?I think just having my top 10 would be too few, so perhaps extend it to 20.. or maybe 25.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed? On more than one occasion, a guy in our game group has walked out on a game when he's either perceived himself to be in a poor position, or he's annoyed with either himself, or others playing the game. This hasn't ever been a game I've been playing, but I've seen it happen across the room.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?I actually had a few designs in the works that I either didn't complete or didn't get very far with. I was trying to design a Catan-like game set in space, without the randomness of dice.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?I've sold some games that were ok, but didn't see a lot of play and when I needed the money and shelf space. I've also given away games from my collection when I've thought other people would appreciate them.

I've had this Splotter title now for a couple months and have yet to get it to the table. I know I have at least one other interested person, so now I only need to get one or two more...

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

Race for the Galaxy base set I would willingly give away to potential opponents in the area if this would increase my opportunities to play!

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

Um, perhaps a KitchenAid mixer? They are durable, come with lots of attachments with which to do many different things.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

Race for the Galaxy might be the game that best fits for me. My first 5-7 plays I didn't really care much for the game, but something finally clicked for me shortly after that has made it into one of my faves. Only reason I kept playing was because a good friend kept asking to play...

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

Most any Portal Games rulebook.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

Where does one even start? I feel like changing even one historical event would chain potentially huge changes to history and life in general.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

Probably pretty low since I rarely come up with a question.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

I know I have a large collection, but I'd be happy to get down to 50-100. There's plenty of friends around with plenty of games. I don't know that I'll ever get that low, but I am actively seeking to reduce the collection.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Outside of raised voices and people quitting games, I've not seen much that got really dramatic. Perhaps a Shadows over Camelot game was the worst with people shaking in their seats, one person running out crying, and another two reveling in the chaos.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

A quick playing civ game with bells and whistles. In other words - pretty much an impossibility.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

Different reasons - sometimes because the game is selling for a premium at the moment, sometimes because it is just average and lots of other people have the game, and many other reasons.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
I chose Eclipse since we now have some handy little trays for the cubs and a cloth mat that shows the tile outlines on a space backdrop. We've been holding off on playing this game again until both pieces arrived; now that they're here, I'm itching to play!

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Mage Knight simply because my girlfriend isn't a real fan of the game. She'd be willing to play it if I absolutely insisted (unlike Stronghold which she outright refuses to ever touch again) but would prefer she didn't have to. I know it can be played solo but I'd much rather play something with her.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
Ice cream scoop. More ice cream is more good!

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
I initially hated Agricola. Once my girlfriend really started getting into board games, this was one of the ones I recommended to her because I knew it worked well enough mechanically and would be easy enough for her to pick up. Thankfully I enjoyed playing with her much more than I had playing it with others in the past. What was once a 4 has since become an 8.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Mall of Horror. It wasn't a very large book but it was still very poorly written. Thankfully understood the game after reading the rules re-write that someone posted on here.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
Absolutely nothing simply because of how such a change would alter everything else going forward. If a series of events didn't happen or happened differently, I wouldn't be where I am or who I am right now.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
No idea. If it makes it, hooray, but I might not remember what I proposed anyways so I likely wouldn't notice.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
I could probably weed out a few games that we just don't play a lot, but I'd probably end up missing them from time-to-time when we wanted to play them. Let's be safe and say all that I'll keep all but 4 or 5.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
Can't say I've seen anything terrible. I think the worst I've seen is me getting frustrated with everyone attacking me in Through the Ages despite two other players being far better targets in terms of things to be gained and weaker military.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
None at all. I'm pretty sure that whatever I'd come up with would be some half-baked cross between a bunch of different favourites. Space Alert + Last Night on Earth + Through the Ages anyone?

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
I got rid of Arkham Horror despite really liking it for a few reasons. The rules were complex and cumbersome, the game took up a ton of room, setup and tear down took far too long, and the play time was much longer than any of us wanted for one evening. It has since been replaced by my girlfriend's copy of Mansions of Madness.

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?
Have you introduced other people to new and interesting games, showing them there are much better options than boring old Monopoly and the like?

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
I was looking through my Looney Pyramids rules bible recently and thinking I haven't played a new-to-me pyramid game in a while. So, one of those.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
I'm bad about keeping games even if they suck, so I don't think I can answer this question properly.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
The clock on the microwave oven. It's a weird question, so I need a suitably weird answer.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
My opinion of Werewolf seems to fluctuate a lot, depending on how things have gone recently. I'm not talking about the end result, but the experience of Werewolf can vary widely based on the village. So my opinion is up and then it's down and then it's up again.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Writing rulebooks is hard, and not a lot of people are good at it. I don't actually read a lot of rulebooks, so I don't have a good example off the top of my head. I need to work on rewriting the rulebook for my own game, still in prototype form, so let's go with that one.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
If I know anything from reading alternate history, it's that we can never really know how history might change if we were to change something. So you could say, "Kill Hitler," but who knows what might happen. It might be worse.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
I haven't asked one, so unlikely.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
I never do well with questions like this. If I'm forced to reduce, I could reduce to Looney Pyramids and a deck of cards and still have hundreds of games that I could play.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
I don't have any game rage memories that stand out. Fortunately.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I'm currently working on a game of my own design, so there you go. One of these days I'll finish it up.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
I've gotten rid of games that I have duplicate copies of, but that's about it.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
My game group and I enjoy 2v2 games, making our own versions of Rune Wars and Shogun. I haven't yet picked up Innovation, but I suspect our first ten plays or so will end up of the 2v2 variety.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Dominion, probably. I still enjoy it, but after a bad internet addiction led to a few thousand games, no one wants to play with me. I could always play the online version again, if I didn't mind my wife's threats of cutting my fingers off.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
Beaters. Completely submerged in thick chocolate chip cookie dough.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Shadows Over Camelot. To be fair, it was my introduction to co-op gaming, and I was fascinated by the concept. Now, so many games do it so much better, SOC never leaves the shelf.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Coloretto. Because it's short. (I concur with someone redoing Arkham Horror, but I don't have months to spare.)

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
Take the red pill. The blue one was fine, but...

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
If you're going to make big money, you need to play the occasional longshot. So -- not at all.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
73

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
At a Duelmasters face-to-face convention, the Man in Yellow wasn't happy with the game's printed results, so he started stabbing the page with a pen. Through the paper. And the tablecloth. And into the hotel's wooden table. Time and time again, crying. (Oh good mercy, I hope the Man in Yellow isn't on BGG!)

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I'm in the process of designing my dream game, and you'll hopefully see posts for playtesting it by year's end.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
Because I wasn't familiar with BGG at the time, my wife took Alibi, Killer Bunnies (and some expansions), Settlers of the Stone Age, and Munchkin Fu to Goodwill. Oh wait, you said beyond it being a bad game? Dunno.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

Yesterday my wife asked me to purchase a copy of this map. In 15+ years its only the third time she has ever asked for anything board game related.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

Modern Art as I received a copy for Christmas and have yet to play it.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

A refrigerator, as I think its important to keep cool at all times.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)

11 nimmt! even made my top 10 new to me games of last year, but after 10 plays I am already burnt out on it.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

None, I'm terrible at writing rules.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?

In 1861 Robert E. Lee accepts command of the Union Army. I think it would have cut the length of the Civil War in half.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?

I like them just fine.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

Lets see...One copy of every game I enjoy playing in the past, present, and future. How many games does that come out to?

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Playing Risk would make my sister so mad that she would pound her dice on the table and throw them down the hallway.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?

I've got this double press your luck criminal/good cop/bad cop game in mind, but I've never done anything with it because of my answer to Question #4.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

I've gotten rid of many games, just because they didn't do anything for me.

Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?

"What's the best deal on a game that you have ever found at a thrift store or yard sale?"

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
I own this, have set it up and going the rules. Time is my biggest issue.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Caylus. Just too dry for my group.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
A blender so I could make margaritas.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Bohnanza. At first I thought this game was just so-so, but it really has become a favorite of our game groups. Light but enough strategy. Little down time and fun.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

I have no idea... maybe Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game, that one confused me.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
Great questions. Way too deep for here.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
ah, not much.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
Since im bloated at over 500, I'd say I could trim it down to 100 or so, but it would be hard to give up game I love but don't play.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
Basically game flipping. Axis and Allies can do that to you when your a teenager.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I have bunch, but I want to make a two player game about Armageddon. You can play as either good or bad. Each trying to make the end times come to their our outcome.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
I never have. Wait I gave one away one time, but I bought another copy.

Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?
What is your favorite superhero movie.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
I'm looking at getting a group together to play this in a campaign format. Granted I've never played the game, but I have done some research on it and it sounds like it will fit my needs. I'm into the idea of character development in the arena.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?

Puerto Rico, it plays alright but I don't feel like its anything special. I prefer games with a little more direct interaction and influence. I won't call this dull, but I feel like it needs another phase of the game.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?

My trusty French Press. I use it everyday, its simple, and makes something I enjoy.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Once again Puerto Rico. Rated very high considered a must have, and I was really looking forward to the time when my kids could play it. So when that time came and after several plays I can just say that I was am a little disappointed with the game play. I recognize a good game in there, but it plays to me a little formulaic.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?

MtG. I just learned this and I think the game is wonderful, but convoluted when I was being taught, and that was after an initial read through of the rules. It feels like every card has a new rule.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
Difficult. I don't think I would like that much power concentrated. My initial response was that I would go back to the first incident in human history of oppression of one individual over another, and communicate to that person so that it would become a foundation of human existence that oppression is against human nature. Them I considered that by me doing that I would be an oppressor. History is behind us I would like to focus on making the future a better place instead.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
Better that the chances of a donkey playing in the Barclays Premier League, and not a sure bet.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?

5 games, as long as it wasn't a static list. If I could swap 1 game a year I could get along with 5.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?

Tears from my youngest when I unleashed the Australian Hoard and swept across the south of Asia and into........ Egypt. The story is that I taught my kids Risk when they were very young, and the littlest one is very into Egypt and the Pharaohs. She saw Egypt was a country on the Risk map and played the whole game only trying to defend it. When the Hoard arrived she refused to roll the dice, and she called me the worst dad ever. So if you count a non-violent, but very vocal protest finale to a game I would say that is mine. Since then she has learned a ton of new games and understands what games are....I hope.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I have an idea for a game that is continuous, like a rpg but allows different players to join or drop, but played over a world map, and incorporating current events into the campaign.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?

Ca$h.

Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?
What is you most disliked game in your collection , and why do you still have it?

I was born in Canterbury. It's my city. All the foreign students on school trips standing around, blocking up the beautiful back streets by the Cathedral while under-age smoking are trying to steal it but it's mine.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Ticket to Ride Europe (62). I got it relatively cheap off a friend and while it's decent enough, there are always alternative I'd rather try. However for someone with fewer games or less gaming "experience" then it could become a favourite. It would be nice to provide that for someone.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
Bottle opener.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Maybe Thurn and Taxis. I wasn't a big fan after first playing it and didn't like the graphics at all. However now I'm addicted to it on yucata and really enjoy it.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Prêt-à-Porter. Lad makes great games but the rule translations ain't so great. It makes it less desirable to learn and play through with new people.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
The invention of the atomic bomb. I have no idea what the outcome would be but I know for sure I wouldn't have seen what I saw at the Hiroshima museum.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
I don't put questions up for it so the odds are zero.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
Hundred maybe.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
I've been quite fortunate from what I can remember. I've had no flipped tables, shouting rants or such like. I've just had opponents who suddenly make winning feel even less enjoyable than if I'd been losing.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I really want to design a good strategic cricket game. It's really complicated to do it the way I want to though.

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
I had to shed a few when we were leaving the UK to go to Japan and again when leaving Japan to come back to the UK. C'est la vie. You get over it.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.

I have a copy of Puzzle Strike (Third Edition), and Puzzle Strike Shadows pre-ordered through my FLGS, and I have been playing the store copy, as well as with my friend during lunch and I just want to play the heck out of it until I done with the game. Just a tonne of fun so far though.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
Agricola. I was thinking of maybe Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization, but want to get it played before deciding on it's fate. Agricola I already know I thoroughly dislike so why have it take up space on my shelf... along with the expansions we have and will never play.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
A spatula. I get to scrape the last of the cake batter out of the bowl... And those last drops of cake batter are always the most delicious...

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Puerto Rico was such a huge disappointment for me. I wanted to love it, but the people teaching it decided to give us the most basic of rules explanation and then use it as an excuse to roll right over the newbs. I didn't see where the enjoyment came from this game, unless the only fun came from destroying newbs, and then how many times will I be playing with newbs enough to make it fun for me... My wife saw it differently and wanted the game and see if we learned it with other newbs if we could actually get enjoyment out of it. All future plays made this game better and better and I am glad I wasn't given the chance to just give up on it.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Return of the Heroes. Oh it's hilarious because the characters are talking to each other and explaining the rules as they have their little conversations... How amusing for 30 seconds until you realise you will never be able to discern the rules, or be able to find anything when you have rules questions during the game...

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
Just because it was such an awful day and the major repercussions that came from it I would say 9/11... Who knows the ripples that would have came from this (some other, possibly worse, terror attack) but giving it a try would be worth it.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
Very low... I never have any good ideas for questions and don;t offer any up... If I ever come up with a question I am sure it will be so ultimately awesome that it will for sure be picked!

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
100. I really want to get to 500 so I can get the microbadge, but I could live with a top 100 for sure.

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
It was me. We were playing Power Grid one Thanksgiving, and my brother in law looked over and figured I had sealed the win. I don't like to count my chickens and I knew there were ways I could lose. He kept harping on at me and then he suddenly saw how I could be stopped so he started collaborating with everyone else. The truth being my other bro-in-law and wife had already seen what was coming and would have rightfully blocked me. But I just went off as I have a hard enough time winning the game 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 on 1, Never mind 4 on 1... My soon to be sister in law was shocked by my major outburst and people just started leaving the table. It took my wife bringing everyone back to the table to finish it out... which we did, but it left a bad taste in the mouth. I bowed out of games with the family for a while after this (and Power Grid is my all time favourite game... and I am the game organiser in the family usually too.)

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
The game I thought about was this pick up and deliver type game... then I played it one day... it was Steam... I was so disappointed, because I knew that the design in my head was no where near as good as Steam. Since then I just enjoy games other people design and don;t worry about my dumb thoughts... someone else has probably already designed what I have going on in my head anyways...

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
I've sold a couple of games that were decent games but worth some money. I knew I couldn't replace them but didn't care too much.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why.
I was just introduced to this game not long ago. I wasn't really interested in it, but now that I've played it, I've made a complete 180 about this game. If I owned my own copy I'm sure I'd be playing it by myself a lot just to play it.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away?
I've already given away a few games but not cause I didn't like them. Going down my list by geek rating, I guess I'd give away my copy of Go (7.545). I played it a few times and I just didn't really get it. I've never really been that good at abstracts anyway.

2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why?
Spork. Multi-use tool. My brother-in-law refers to me as a Jack-of-all-geeks. I do so many different geeky things, but I master none of them. Hmm... maybe one of those multi-use appliances that replaces 15 others would be a better choice here.

3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good)
Race for the Galaxy. The first time I played it, I didn't understand it at all. I passed on it never to look back. There was a part of me I guess that lingered on it cause I heard so much good about the A.I Robot for solitaire play, and if you see my geekbadge, nuff said. Anywho, I later got into playing Puerto Rico and really enjoyed it. Eventually, a friend of mine brought over RftG and wanted to play so I gave in, but for some reason, I completely understood the game. He let me borrow it to try it out solo and I fell in love with it. Course, after I found out the designer was hired to make a card game version of Puerto Rico that eventually became San Juan, it all made sense why I understood the game now.

4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be?
Every one of them except for Combat Commander. lol, j/k.
Um, I'd have to go with Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game. That one is a bit rough.

5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be?
I honestly cannot think of anything at this moment as I'm sure there is no event historically I would change. Now with my own personal life however, that's something different.

6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist?
It's neat, but I doubt I'll ever come up with a question fun enough to put into here.

7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection?
I haven't reached that number yet so I'm not sure. devil

8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed?
A friend I used to play with a lot was a sore loser, would only have fun if winning. If he was losing, you could see the anger on his face. If you ever won, it was never cause you bested him. It was because there was something wrong with the game, or a rule was bad, or you didn't make something apparent and because of that he didn't see it so would have done something else. Also during video games it would be cause the controller was messed up or the game itself was messed up.
It's not really bad, but that's the worst I've personally witnessed. I did grow tired of it after quite a many years and one day blew up at him and told him how I felt about it. That was a year ago and so far he seems to have improved. I guess he just never realized what effect it had on me.

9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet?
I actually do have a game design swimming in my head that I need to start getting out on paper and maybe actually get to the designing part. I was influenced by the guy that created Earth Reborn when he said he created the board game he wanted to play. So I'm dreaming up a wargame with a fantasy theme. It might be co-op and solitaire. Actually it will have solitaire. How could I not do that?

10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game?
I've given a few games away to people cause I just didn't play them and I thought they would enjoy them.

Bonus Question:
11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?
Does a game having solitaire rules increase the probability of you purchasing it?
(didn't see that coming did you?)

0: Le Havre is one of the most highly ranked, high-complexity euro-games I haven't been able to try. Hopefully it will be reprinted soon and I'll be able to snag a copy.

1: I would give up Ys, which is ranked 415 with an average rating of 7.05. My friends and I never play it.

2: Corkscrew.

3: I don't enjoy Settlers of Catan as much any more.

4: I bought Geronimo years ago but couldn't get through a single game due to how bad the rulebook was. So that one… maybe.

5: Impossible to answer. I'd rather simply be a time travelling tourist and see what actually happened in the past.

6: I have a question?

7: About 100. I'd like to get most of the games on my wishlist (currently around 80), which would put me at about that amount.

8: I've never witnessed serious gaming rage.

9: The ultimate Robin Hood game. Not necessarily because I want to design it, but because I want to play it. The few existing Robin Hood-themed games don't look that good (though I'm happy to hear recommendations).

10: I've never gotten rid of a game.

0) As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play and, if you'd like, give a brief explanation why. Still haven't gotten around to putting this together with better rules. Hope I get around to it before the kids outgrow the desire.

1) What is the highest ranked game you own (based on BGG rankings) that you would willingly give away? Ben, why do you always make me open a new tab to see lists and stats? Anyway, I've given away a bunch and would probably give away higher ones, but I'm pretty sure Stone Age would be it. It's the fifth highest-rated game I own and I've never played it. It may even be a playtest copy. I have played the game, but not this copy.
2) If you could be any kitchen appliance/utensil, what would you be and why? Maybe a toaster oven, so I could be warm. I'm usually cold.
3) What game has the biggest difference between your opinion after the first play, and current opinion? (either good to bad, or bad to good) I can only think of one I had a bad opinion of without playing at all (Mu) which I turned out to like afterwards. Of games I actually played first, it's probably Wildlife Adventure. It was so simple and straightforward (and still is) when I played it that I gave it a rating of something like 1. But the kids and my wife like it so it's up to 2.8.
4) If you could rewrite one rulebook, what would it be? Ha! I'm working on Mythology now (see question 0).
5) You have the ability to change one historical event. What event do you choose, and what do you expect the effect of the change will be? The laws of unintended consequences would probably come into play, but the assassination of JFK would be high up on the list, just ahead of reintegrating baseball well before 1947.
6) How do you like the odds of getting your question chosen for the next 10 questions geeklist? Not so good. I usually don't submit one, but I will this time.
7) What is the smallest number of games that you could be content with as your own collection? 10, probably.
8) What is the worst gaming rage incident you’ve ever witnessed? Flipping of a Siedler von Catan board (well before there was an English version) when someone rolled a 7 before he could trade in his huge hand of goods (that's the way the translation read--you use a card for monopoly (wheat, I think it was) and must hold that stuff until your next turn.
9) What is a game you have been dreaming of designing, but haven't, yet? One about Global Supply Chains. Really.
10) Why have you gotten rid of a game from your collection, beyond it just being a bad game? Because I'd never get to play it or because it was worth a lot of money.

Bonus Question:

11) What question should I ask in my next geeklist?[/COLOR][/b] What game convention(s) do you plan to attend this summer?
