I went to Essen Spiel two years ago, but didn't have a chance to go last year.
This year, I'm going again, and I'm doing things differently. I'm not going to buy nearly as much this time - I promise!
Anyways, this is my Essen Spiel 2013 list, to be updated as stuff shows up. This is not necessarily games I'll buy for sure, but (hopefully most of it) will just be games I'm interested in. I'll rate them on some sort of scale of interest - both mine, and the wife's, if she gives any impressions.

Looks like a really cool game about litterary characters being from the same (?) or parallel (??) universes. I love that idea, and always have. Even the title is reminicent of the fantastic TV series "10th Kingdom", which shared that basic premise.
Interest level: This is high on my list, only based on the theme. The price puts it lower on my interest radar, though.

I know, I know....Fantasy Flight Games can be notoriously hard to get a hand on while at Essen Spiel. But here's hoping Heidelberger will feature English titles this year again - I heard they didn't last year?

The word "Zombie" automatically catches my interest (yes, I'm one of those geeks). This doesn't seem like a typical zombie game, but when the entire city of Venice is an undead creature, things do start getting interesting!!
Interest level: Seems like an interesting take on genres and mechanics I enjoy.

A game about managing a citrus-farm, tile-laying style? That seems like fun. I know nothing more about the game, but I will def. keep an eye on this one.
Interest level: Somehow, the theme just seemed to grab me. I need to learn more, though.

This seems interesting, even though I don't know much about the mechanics yet. The game seems somewhat short, which I enjoy (15 mins per player, once you know the rules), so tha'ts interesting.
Interest level: City building is always fun, so I'll keep an eye out.

Being an underground resistance faction, with traitors and secret goals? Call me a sucker for this theme, but I'm in. Just need to see how (if) the game is different enough for the rest of the games in this "genre" to warrant a buy.

GHOST BUSTERS!
Well, no, not precisely. But you do get to hunt ghosts. Which is awesome. The art is extremely pretty as well. Depending on pricing, this is very high on my list.

I love Days of Wonder's games. Which makes it kind of strange, that I don't seem to own any of them...hmm....
Anyway, I love treasure hunts, and this game looks like it might be fun. The designer is unknown, so can't base it off his work, but I do have a friend who gets to try out the game (a protoype?) sometime in the next few weeks, so he can tell me whether it's a must-have.
EDIT: I've heard from people who've tried the game in it's current state, and it sounds really fun. I was afraid it'd be too family-oriented - apparently it's more of a gamer's game than both TtR and Small World. Hurray!
