I'm sure all who went to WBC had a fantastic time playing old favorites, but one of the things that makes WBC really special for me is learning new games I would never get to play with the people I see on a regular basis. I put a few of the games I personally learned and loved this year on this list to get it started, but I'm curious to know what other attendees found intriguing, so please add items.

My attempts at an online game of this in the last few months failed, so my first play of Maria was at WBC, and it was fantastic. One of the games I played in particular was really close and went the full number of turns, truly showcasing how the game works diplomatically and strategically.

I was stunned with how much strategic variation is possible in Trajan, allowing for a range of strategies. I found the complexity perfect, and I'm definitely sad I probably won't be able to play it until next year...

This is an interesting little one that I learned before playing in its tournament. For a light Euro, it had some interesting choices with somewhat far-reaching consequences.

Wow. I love Dominion. I love chess even more. This game, essentially a combination of Dominion and chess) is perfect.

I was hooked when I heard that you get to draw with crayons on the board.

As mentioned above I did purchase this game and got to play it twice. First game was a 3 player game with just the basic rules and we all enjoyed it. There was a few things we did wrong. The second game we played with 4 players and added all the rules and it was still really fun.

Heard lots of good stuff about this one for awhile and finally got a chance to play it. It was really fun for me as I enjoy dice games and this had a nice amount of strategy with the dice rolling.
