Monday:

Quick game of Draculix with K and the sproglet while dinner was cooking. We've had this game for years but it doesn't come out very often these days. It's a very simple dice game with no real decisions beyond some occasional push-your-luck. Good for littler kids, but even the sproglet was having trouble keeping his attention on it. I won, after a couple of goes round the table with everyone stuck on their current spaces.

Saturday:

Wow, not much gaming this week. Regular Tuesday boardgames were off so we could prepare for the sproglet's birthday.

Had a game of Ascension: Immortal Heroes with A on the iPad. One of those frustrating games where the centre row filled up with monsters and expensive cards. I was ahead on VPs, A had a bigger deck. Partly from Mechana constructs, partly from getting a first-turn Stone Circle Elder which she used to acquire another one, and so could easily scoop up any heroes that did turn up. Felt pretty close, but final score turned out to be 74-59 to her.

devil Bragging time ...

Monday my regular partner and I had a 66% game. Today (Friday), my sometime partner and I had a 73% game. (Yes, those are very good and great scores, respectively.) The Petosky regional is next week - hopefully the Bridge gods will keep looking favorably on us.

Of course, there's a contrast - with Yucata - where I've lost about 10 straight games and have to worry about being demoted.

It was 8 straight and 10 out of 12; this evening I took home wins in Jaipur and 3P Finca.

August 5:
Android: Netrunner x4 - Got a lot of practice with my Whizzard deck, and tried out a NEXT Design deck with 27 ICE. Android: Netrunner – Creation and Control really altered a lot of the standard deck archetypes and created some exciting new ones.

Trains - I enjoyed this game. Interesting deckbuilder with a mechanic of adding Waste cards to your deck whenever you score points. Interested in playing again.

Hanabi - Getting all the 1s and 2s on the table early is super important! Let people discard their 4s (and sometimes 3s) early.

Spaceteam - Yet another humorous shouting match of gibberish!

August 8:
Android: Netrunner x4 - League games. I lost with my NEXT Design deck because most of my Agendas were at the bottom of my deck and I didn't draw into them fast enough.
Whizzard is not a bad deck, but it's not my style.
NBN: The World is Yours is an amazing deck with Scorched Earth!
I had a crazy game with Gabe VS. Weyland where the corp was able to score 2 Project Atlases with a total of 3 counters because Gabe couldn't find a wall breaker! Guess what happened next? "Project Atlas for Hostile Takeover, Install, Advance x2, Score. You're turn" OH NO! Gabe found his wall breaker as well as a Medium, but the corp just did the exact same thing again! So Gabe Account Syphoned ALL of the corp's bits. The corp simply gained 3. Gabe ran for a deep dig on R&D - what else could he do? - and the corp responded by Atlasing the final Hostile Takeover into his hand! Gabe switched gears and Account Syphoned the corps money. The corp gained 3 again. Gabe installed Sneakdoor Beta in a last ditch play to get the Hostile Takeover and pulled it on his second run! After that, Gabe has complete control and easily scored 7 Agenda points before the corp could score another one.

Still need to win with NBN: Making News, Jinteki: Replicating Perfection, and a second Haas-Bioroid. Only 3 matches left to play.

August 11:
Village Inn - I really like this game. The Inn is just as strong as the Market and really allows everyone to go their separate ways.

Hanabi x2 - My wife and I taught another couple this game, and we scored 20, then 25! There was a little "cheating" due to people flinching at possible discards or someone having an AH-HA! moment and blurting out "I have the BLUE 5" which told everyone else which 5s they were holding. All in good fun.

Divinare - My wife is really really good at this game! It's a great game with a lot of bluffing and double-think. Highly recommended!

The Resistance: Avalon x3 - Some more friends showed up and I convinced them to try this. First game was just the plain characters ala The Resistance so they could get the hang of it, then we introduced Merlin to make things interesting. Evil won the vanilla game, Good won the 1st Merlin game, and Evil won the second Merlin game through Assassination. I was on the losing side every time - I underestimated some people because they'd never played before.

The Newlywed Game - We all wrote down questions on a public sheet until there were 20, then we secretly answered the questions and tried to guess what our SO's answers would be. It was a lot of fun reading them back and laughing at many of the answers. The person who convinced us to play came in last place with their SO and didn't look too happy when they left.
