I wanted to see a list of Alternate Game Tokens that are better than the originals!

I'm not talking about a one-off, painstakingly craftworked token, though - I'm talking about widely available tokens that work better for a game than the tokens that were provided.

I'm looking for Games that can be played with:
1) Tokens from A Different Game
2) Tokens you can buy from the store or eBay at all times

... And the Alternate Tokens are genuinely better or more realistic for use in the game than the tokens that were provided with it.

So Lets see the list!

The game contained small plastic cars with decals for the numbers and pinstriping. The decals typically came off very quickly and many just use the plain cars.

However, 1/87 or 1/144 scale cars produced by Racing Collectible companies Racing Champions and Winners Circle were widely sold at Walmart/Kmart/Target as well as at the race tracks. They can now be found constantly on eBay for a few dollars.

This is a comparison of the original cars included with the game (Top) and the alternate, 1/87 Scale Race Cars that you could buy at K-mart for about $3/each with a trailer, or in a set of 5 for about $7.
You can now get them on ebay for about $1/ea in a lot, or a few dollars each individually for a much more realistic experience. The cars fit perfectly in the game squares and look much better than the original tokens.

After seeing the picture below I went straight to Ebay for a copy of Buck Rogers so I could replace the boring wooden discs with spacemen.

I haven't posed any pics yet but the vaguely Roman looking spear men in Exalted: War for the Throne are a great replacement for the wooden disks in Pompeii. For a while you could get Exalted very cheap from Tanga and it has a ton of components that can be used in other games.

Like the Daytona 500 Game above, this game also works better using retail-sold Race Car Collectibles in place of the game-included Tokens.

Daytona Challenge had two versions. One with a board the same size as Daytona 500, meaning you could use either the Tokens from Daytona 500, or, the 1/87 or 1/144 scale cars as alternative-upgrades.

There was also a "Mega Size" version, shown in the image, that was designed with space to fit a Hot-Wheels size 1:64 scale car. The image shows the cardboard punch-out game-included tokens on the left, with 1:64 scale cars sold by Racing Champions, Inc to the right on top of the game pieces, showing they are the exact same size.

It's a simple one but the mushroom clouds from Supremacy work perfectly for the defcon level track in TS!! In the below picture the Nuclear War cloud is from "Litko" which is one I'm not familiar with but the Supremacy clouds are rad.

I changed out the tokens for blocks in my Civ game when I realized the cardboard tokens were a real turn-off to most of my friends. Then I got the cards reprinted at PrinterStudio.com

Now the game has some of the same flare that newer games have.

(like the shirt? Yeah an famine and epidemic knocked me out of the game right after this picture was taken.)
