Happy to use myself as a bit of "easy target" for the sake of future gaming nirvana I decided quite recently to put up a thread in Recommendations asking people to suggest games to me.

Not in a normal manner, mind you, I wanted to know what games people couldn't believe weren't a part of my collection.

Mohrlock wrote:
So it's around that time again where I start to wonder what games I'm missing out on enjoying. I don't have the largest of collections but I do try to keep a nice variety going.

I'm interested to hear what people can't believe I don't have. In other words, sell me your favourite game. Picture having my collection as your own and based on that the very first game you would have to purchase.

What is it that I would like about the game? Does your game address a gap in my collection? Is the game readily available to purchase or a little harder to find? What's the greatest feature of the game?

Open to absolutely anything, even if you don't think it fits in my collection. Thanks to all who participate & contribute in this thread!

After seeing that someone added the tag to the thread "+shouldbeageeklist" I thought that was probably a great idea! So rather than continue on with the thread, I've decided to maintain this geeklist for everyone to help contribute to.

I thank everyone who contributed to the original thread and all those who continue to help contribute to this list. (This took well over an hour or so to compile from thread over to Geeklist!)

Please, feel free to point out the flaws in my collection and boast about how awesome the game is you really think I should have! Have fun!

This is a public geeklist, please feel free to add items!

This is another great intro game!

It isn't the deepest or most challenging of wargames but it is a well made, easy to teach and infinitely replayable game that everyone should have a copy of. And, most importantly, loads of fun!

I have painted my copy and it gets comments every time it is played in public.

This will not scratch the hardcore wargame itch (that is what ASL is for!), but for those of us who do not have a large pool of hardcore wargamers in our circles, we can get just about anyone to play this little wargame!

You can't say that about ASL (which I also like)!

If you're interested in a non-deckbuilding superhero game, check out Sentinels of the Multiverse.
It's got great art and theme, and huge replay value. Just the base game comes with ten heroes to play as, four villains to fight, and four environments to fight in. There are also three expansions out which each add two heroes, four villains, and four environments, as well as a bunch of mini-expansions that are a single new hero, villain, or environment.
If you do get it, make sure you get the 'Enhanced Edition', which fixes a lot of issues with the first edition, and adds stuff to balance the game with different numbers of players.

This is a must for every collection. I only play it once a year during a full day TI event. Simply put this game has it all. I also own Eclipse and Exodus: Proxima Centauri, they are fun but nothing can take the place of an epic game of Twilight Imperium.

Quite frankly, I would rather "sell" you something like Dungeon Lords or Mage Knight Board Game, which are 2 of my top 10 games and seem to, at least somewhat, mesh with your collection. Plus, there are a number of really good games already mentioned to you here on this geeklist.

However, looking at your collection, I'm going with my gut instinct here because I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DON'T HAVE Arkham Horror. If you read my little review of it, you will see that it is not my cup of tea, but you have a thing for Cthulhu already, so I was kind of shocked that you don't have it. I kept trying to scroll up your collection to find it there, but your first game alphabetically is Battle Spirits: Trading Card Game.

Are you SURE you don't already have it and just forgot to list it in your collection?!?!?

This is just a fantastic auction game. Plays quickly and it easy to teach with plenty of double-think and a fair amount of tension. However, I do think Metropolys is a better game because it adds the spatial element.
