Games Harvest: Adventure! Hosted by MaryEllen "Emmy" Chilton and Dana Huyler

Games Harvest is a 40 daylong event where we will play a different game each day. We will then blog our experiences from that gaming adventure. The focus of the blog is to show our audience a glimpse into our game and player experiences, thought processes and gaming strategies. Additionally the audience will get two unique perspectives on each game from the authors, as our game experience and enthusiasm levels differ.

The origin of the event was the thought of "Let's do Lent in Fall, but instead of giving up something, we take something up!" We decided that playing a game a day would be a fantastic way of doing just that. We also decided we would start on the same wacky schedule as Lent but in reverse. The harvest schedule ended up October 20th until November 28th. Coincidentally, the last day is Thanksgiving.

We will be blogging through WordPress and posting updates on Twitter, and Facebook. We also will try to add pictures and videos to the blog. The writing style will be informal and causal since this is a personal experience documentary.

We plan to keep score of the games won, not only by us, but by the special guest stars that will be joining during our adventure of gaming.

What is a game, you might ask? We are very broadly defining game to mean any competitive activity with rules and a scoring mechanism. The categories with sample titles are:

Board Games
• Settlers of Catan
• Carcassonne
• The Crazy Cat Lady game

Card Games
• Poker
• Magic: The Gathering
• Dominion

• Basketball or Horse
• Kickball
• A good old fashioned footrace

Video games
• Rock Band
• Minecraft
• Mario Party
Party games
• Cards against Humanity
• Apples to Apples
• Geeks who Drink Trivia

Mobile games
• Draw Something
• Words with Friends

Board games are expected to be the most common category. We have a large collection of board games that accommodate 2 to many players. The audience can expect that most of our games we play will include some of our favorite board games, but we want to challenge ourselves to play new games, unexpected games, maybe even some sports. No game shall be repeated during the 40 days including any variation. Once a title is harvested it is ineligible to be picked again.

We will be posting on the following social media outlets:
• WordPress:
• Twitter: @TheGamesHarvest
• Facebook:
• Hashtag: #gamesharvest

Let the Games Begin!

P.S: Since we will both be at BGG.con this year (Dana (Skeeve) is going to be there from Wednesday to Sunday, and MaryEllen (who doesn't have a BGG account) will be there from Friday to Sunday), you can join us on some unofficial and maybe official games during our own Games Harvest!
