We had a small turn out tonight, which means we only played a few games. Oddly enough, we had a strong Fantasy worker placement theme going on.

About the Game on! Game Night: We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays (plus the occasional 5th Tuesday) of the month at Avon United Methodist Church from 6:30-9:30. The next game night will be on September 17th.

David brought this little Japanese game. Little is not an exaggeration, it has one of the smallest boxes I have seen for a game.

We kept guessing who the murderer was until someone one.

The first of the two big games that was played this evening was Dungeon Lords. Only Matt had played the game before, so I assume he was just taking it easy on the new players.

The second big game of the night was Lords of Waterdeep using the newest expansion. We used both the Skullport and the Under Mountain expansion. This meant we were playing the "long game".

I had the Lord that gave me points for buildings. I tried to focus on buildings early, but got off to a rocky start, when after building the first building Dan used an influence card to steal it from me. I soon was able to keep my self in the start position (or use the ambassador) to keep building things. In the end this managed to get me 36 points, plus one of my completed quest in turn 7 also gave bonus points for completed buildings.

John did not shy away from corruption, but he also built up a fairly decent engine for getting rid of it. He used corruption well to get a lot of extra stuff, which really catapulted him in the lead. Going into the last turn, things looked great for him as he had a way to get rid of corruption and a healthy lead. I messed up his plans on the last turn by using an influence card to move him onto a building that had collected four corruption. This doubled his corruption, and to add salt the wound I intentionally filled up both corruption dumping buildings so he could not use them. In the end he lost 35 points from Corruption.

Dan spent most of the game snatching up small quest worth only a few points. This meant he spent most of the game in the back but he was never more than 5 points or so behind. This was all part of his plan, because at the end of the game because of his Lord he was able to pick one quest type and 6 points for each of that type. He specialized in Arcana quests for a lot of points and the win.
