Singlish Demystified (phrases tangentially related to board gaming)
- Keng Leong Yeo(Yeoster)Singapore
If you ever visit or have visited Singapore, you may be mystified by our mishmash of English, Chinese, Malay and a number of dialects, or what is more commonly known as Singlish .Recommend
Here's an attempt to demystify at least part of it.
When my Significant Other was setting up Starting Player to publish Three Kingdoms Redux, we brainstormed and came up with many potential company names. The initial preference was something that can capture a bit of the local flavour, and we thought Singlish would be a good place to start. In this geeklist, I list the Singlish-related names we came up with and attempt to explain what they mean, with a series of examples, again involving my Significant Other :Christina Ng(tinang)Singapore说了又不听，听了又不懂，不懂又不问，问了又不做，做了又做错，错了又不认，认了又不改，改了又不服，不服又不说，那你要我怎麽办？

P.S. Christina is concerned about how the examples may affect her public image as a board gamer and designer. I share her concerns. So here's a disclaimer: I vouch for Christina's character and the examples below do not represent her in any way.
