Two-parter:

Part One--What would you like to be called here in the Hive? Do you have a nickname you prefer? Would you rather go by your Hacker Name (BGG name)? If your name is difficult to pronounce (say it was...I don't know...something crazy...Icelandic or something...), help us out with that.

Part Two--How did you decide on your kids' names?

Looking through your collection at games that you have played just one time...

Of these once-played games, name one that you have not played in more than a year (some of the older BGG veterans, challenge yourself and select a once-played game that you haven't played in many years)...BUT you are CERTAIN that you will play again.

Next, using the same criteria, select one that you are certain that you will NEVER play again.

Please elaborate on the "whys" and the "whatnots" if you have the time.

Bonus question.

You know I like lists and rankings...but am too lazy to put together a list of TEN items. Five will always do.

Following up on the question above...

From your personal universe of once-played games:

Rank your favorite five among them.
Rank your least favorite five.

Both of the top two most-played games for us this past week were games we play with the babies. Preston (4) is now old enough to play Montgolfiere by the Real Rules (rather than blind-draw). He began that this week, and thus it scores as my Game-of-the-Week.

4x -7- Chicken Cha Cha Cha
4x -7- Montgolfiere
3x |9| Race for the Galaxy
2x |9| 7 Wonders
2x -6- Coloretto
2x -8- Lost Cities
2x -7- Stone Age
2x -6- Trains
1x -8- Android: Netrunner
1x -8- Carcassonne
1x -6- En Garde
1x -7- Endeavor
1x -6- Formula D
1x -8- Love Letter
1x |9| Ra
1x -6- Rialto
1x -7- San Juan
1x -8- Settlers of Catan
1x -6- Through the Desert
1x -8- Tzolk'in

More details of my week can be found here: Item for Geeklist "What Did You Play This Weekend? 9/9/2013"

I was on travel again and just got to play Guildhall twice. I am on travel again this week and am on a business trip in Preston England, which means possibly only a couple of games of Friday hopefully, but I am excited since I made a couple of online orders of several games which have been delivered to my hotel already!

I had a really good weekend of gaming, plus a little extra stuff during the week.

So the main feature of the weekend was a trip to a party celebrating the 25th anniversary of a couple who I used to play games with. Being gamers (along with most of their family), they had hired a function room in a hotel and encouraged an afternoon and evening of gaming, with a slap-up dinner in the middle. Great stuff.

So, while there I got to play:

* Saint Petersburg
* Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule! (*)
* Tsuro (*) a few times, including persuading a non-gamer to join in, after which she played again and roped in her non-gamer husband too. Win!
* Ave Caesar -- on the original board for the first time in ages!
* Escape from the Hidden Castle (*) -- there were three tables of this going simultaneously after dinner!
* And to round things off, a fantastic four games in a row of The Resistance: Avalon

At other times over the last week I also got to play:

* Get Bit! (*)
* Dixit (*)
* King of Tokyo (*)
* Covert Action
* ...and even more Tsuro

I've marked with a (*) the games I played with my daughter.

We had another week with lots of games, but with school starting this week, I think our gaming is going to come to a screeching halt.

The kids had friends over and played some games with them. The ones I noticed were The Magic Labyrinth & Gone Fishin'. More independent gaming!

We talked my wife into another game of Word on the Street Junior.

My son and I played Wasabi!, 10 Days in Africa, 10 Days in the USA x3, and a couple of games that his teacher was getting rid of: Stick Around, an unusual little abstract, Match 'Em, a simple math card game, and Harvest Time, another Family Pastimes coop for very little kids (and a rip-off of HABA’s Orchard).

He also finally read the last chapter of the Hobbit after leaving it alone all summer, and that reignited his interest in LotR games, so we pulled out Knizia’s kids version of Lord of the Rings, and played a coop variant we’ve devised. It was a nail-biter, but we destroyed a couple of Nazgul at the end and won convincingly. Then we played Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation. I wasn’t paying close attention to my moves, got overconfident, and made a crucial mistake at the end which allowed Frodo to slip through my grasp and get to Mordor — the first time my son has truly beaten me at that game!

I ran another family games day at our FLGS and we started the gamer conversion process by teaching a friend with a proto-gamer kid Ticket to Ride, which he loved, and showing another friend with a possible gamer kid Race Through Space (a recent re-theming of Race Through Space), Animal Upon Animal: Balancing Bridge, and Knuckling Knights, which they found quite fun. The kids & I later played Orchard, Würfeln Wolfe (? I forgot to write down the exact title and can't find it in the database), and Sorry Sliders - Cars edition.

A lot of fun!

My children are back at school now, but we had a last burst of games on the Monday before they went back, and my youngest is still at home three days a week, and at least one morning of those three is usually spent playing games, so my games playing hasn't dropped much yet! It was also Gradpad Games this Saturday, and my turn, which meant I spent the whole day gaming then too, and spent quite a bit of the afternoon on Sunday playing Magic the Gathering with my husband, while the children were happily playing.

With adults:

28 x Magic the Gathering
4 x Augustus
3 x The City
2 x Flash Point Fire Rescue
2 x Love Letter
2 x The Resistance

1 x Ascension, Boggle, 6 Nimmt, Citadels, Code 777, Dominion Prosperity, Donkey Kong, D&D Ravenloft, Empire Builder, Endeavor, Escape: the curse of the Temple, Galaxy Trucker, Innovation, King of Tokyo, Modern Art, Mosaix, Palaces of Carrara, Pandemic, Rialto, Schotten-Totten, Suburbia, Vikings

With my children:

4 x Lego Create It
3 x Shopping List (my youngest finally found this one, and loves it!)
2 x Angry Birds: the card game
2 x Creationary
2 x Motorway

1 x Crazy Chefs, FITS, Go for Broke, The Great Game of Britain, Gulo Gulo, Magic Cauldron, Mausen, Floundering, Thomas the Tank Engine Game, Uno

Only played one game last week!?! But it was Gulo Gulo which I always enjoy! Last weekend we spent the time picking Bilberries and cleaning them. Got some 20 liters of them, which should last us through the year.

Blokus x 2 - Just picked this up at GoodWill for $1.60. Well worth it.
Forbidden Island x 2 - A friend brought his kids over to introduce them to games (something he should have done a LONG time ago). This was a real hit.
Forbidden Island x 2 - Another one we played with Chris and his kids. This was really fun.
Bridge x 1 - Finally got our weekly Bridge game back on track.
Ticket to Ride x 1 - Played this with Nat.
Elder Sign x 1 - Corrie & I. We've got to modify this to make it tougher.
HeroQuest x 1 - Another one played with Nat. He likes to set dungeons up for me to run through. They're HARD.
