Week 1 - Week Ending 01/10/2015
Date: 01/07/2015

Game: Forbidden Island
Players: me (solo)

Game Play info:
- 3 adventurers : Explorer, Diver, Messenger
- Start level : Normal

Victory: YES

Recap:
Played during lunchtime at work. Easy enough to setup, although a bit cramped on my desk. The layout of the board had most of the treasures congested in one area so there wasn't much need to explore all around the Island. Kept the Adventurers pretty close, for the most part. Got 2 treasures without much trouble, got a bit dicey toward the end after the discard pile was reshuffled and 2 quick Waters Rise cards came. By end, most of the island was flooded, but by that point I had secured all treasure and was just awaiting a Helicopter list. Came timely and we left...victorious!

Game: Space Hulk : Death Angel
Players: me (solo)

Game Play info:
- 6 Space Marines : green, grey, purple (will add names later)

Victory: Hellz no...

Recap:
This loss, in part, goes to my quick re-read of the rules during the day. I know now I messed some things up. Not the least of which is travelling to the next location when ANY blip pile is empty at the end of any phase. I didn't realize this at first and emptied both blips before the first travel. That said, I'm sure I still would have lost. The facing of the marines still trips me up with planning.

I lost my first marine on the very first genestealer attack phase. Managed to hold my own for a bit, used the door activation to good extent to kill genestealers when I (eventually) travelled. Some good dice rolling helped early on, but once the dice turned, it was a slaughter.

Running low on marines, I made a rash decision using a control panel that would either kill 4 stealers, or kill the marine using it. Not thinking it through carefully, cost me the game. I was down to 2 marines, on the 3rd location. I got antsty (was running well past 45min play time) and went for it. Not realizing if I lost my marine, it would shift the stealers to the other marine remaining, giving him a total of 6 to fight off, with no Attack card. oye...

I feel good about getting SH : DA back to the table though and with a fresh set of rules in my head, maybe better strategy.

Week 4 - Week Ending 01/31/2015
Date: 01/30/2015

Game: Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game
Players: me, Gennings, Pesce

Game Play info:
- Played 2 games - Side note: for some reason game nights at Gennings' are very long and we don't get much gaming in. It's 1 or 2 games if lucky. Too much talking.

- Game 1:
X-wing (gennings) vs 2 Tie (me, pesce)
Just learning the rules here, wasn't so much strategy and trying, just taking the game for test ride. Was fun nonetheless. Technically, we won.

Game 2:
X-wing, Falcon (gennings) vs Firespray, 2 Ties, Tie Interceptor (me, pesce)

Now this game was a game. I still treated it a bit as learning the ropes and not being super strategic. I just enjoyed flying around and trying to shoot things, while not getting killed. I lost my tie on the first shooting spree, which wasn't good for us as he was a support ship which was supposed to grant extra firing dice. This proved costly to trying to take down the Falcon.

Managed to take out Wedge, but the Falcon was near impossible as he kept using C3P0 and his dodging ability to avoid hits. Finally, we figured that we need to concentrate our ships firing at the Falcon (we had been alternating shots/round instead of each shooting during same round). By this time, we had lost 2 more ships and it was late, so we quit. Lessons learned.

Verdict: Enjoyed the game a lot. I still am fearful of getting into it, as I know it's money suck and that scares me. Would love to play again, but preferably 1p v 1p to maybe have more gameplay.

6. Board Game: Mr. Jack [Average Rating:7.05 Overall Rank:458]

Week 6 - Week Ending 01/14/2015
Date: 01/11/2015

Game: Mr. Jack
Players: me, shanna

Game Play info:
Jack - me
Investigator - Shanna

Victory: YES

Recap:
I setup the game while Shan put kids to bed. Sneak attack..she didn't know I was setting up a game. Luckily, she agreed to play. We took our roles and were off.

We messed up a turn order in the first round, but it didn't effect the outcome of the round as I got to move the characters I wanted to anyway.

A rules misinterpretation in round 3 setup Shanna for failure and she jumped to a conclusion too early, accusing who she thought was Jack, but was wrong. So, the game ended real quick.

We normally play 2x, bt it was movie night and we stopped here. At least I got her to play something, and saved another game.
