This list is for everyone to share games they've found can be enjoyed by "non-gamers" (People who generally don't like to play board games).

My wife is a prime example of someone who doesn't like boardgames.

I don't know why, maybe it was bad experiences as a child, maybe it was bad experiences in college, maybe she just feels too much pressure and stress, or finds them dull. Maybe she just doesn't like them in general.

She says she enjoys boardgame nights about as much as I enjoy waking up at 5am to go swimming at the pool.

But she is supportive and willing to put me first on occasion (I've yet to hit the pool however )

The list of games she doesn't like is too long to put here, that being said, there have been some games that she really liked, to my surprise.

In my mind these games are strategy games, not party games like Apples to Apples or Scattergories.

Please add games you've found everyone enjoys playing, I'd love to find more games to play with my wife.

1. Board Game: Power Grid [Average Rating:7.89 Overall Rank:36]
This is my favorite game. I like to share it with everyone for their first game and it has always been well received. My wife was skeptical when I asked her to play, but she ended up beating me and now she also likes it.

2. Board Game: Dark Empire: Revolution [Average Rating:6.65 Overall Rank:5374]
I think my wife liked this one because of the player interaction. She didn't feel too stressed because the game play was straightforward and even if she didn't understand the strategies, everyone else was so busy messing with each others' plans that she was able to still do well. This is one she actually suggested I buy!

This is probably the heaviest game I'd introduce to people who don't like board games. It's mostly tactical, rather than strategic.

It's bright, shiny, and you can tell stupid jokes about your meeples in the "love hut" (complete with simulated meeple childbearing) or making your workers "eat wood" because they gave you a lousy production roll.

You might get blocked out of an area, but you always have something to do, and other than the last turn (when all the huts and cards get scooped up quick), or putting 1 guy on gold and having no tools, most moves will help you at least a little bit.

It's also good for gamers who like their games to clock in at about an hour. Oddly, I've found that this seems to clock in at around 1h15m/1h30m in my group, yet Lords of Waterdeep (which I think is more complicated) only ever takes 1h.

This is probably the one in my collection that people almost always ask to play, if they've played it before. The only people who don't particularly seem to like it are the ones who prefer playing super long strategy games (Eclipse, Terra Mystica, 1830).

I have eaten some Netrunner counters and a treasure token from Nemo's War. Also maybe a Fallout "L" token.

Why make someone do something they don't want to do? If they don't like boardgames, do something different with them.

This is the game I introduced to my wife after Stone Age. I've introduced it to other non-gamers as well. The rules are simple and plays fairly quickly. I often get the "one more time" comment from people that I introduce it to.

This game can be taught to people in about 5 minutes. I've taught it to 6 year olds. So far it's been a hit with everyone, especially my kids. Lots of fun and doesn't outstay its welcome.

This is a wonderful game for non-gamers. There's lots of player interaction and negotiation. The game can be taught in under 10 minutes. I wouldn't recommend this with only 2 players though.

Very easy game to teach and to play. However, it is best played with 3 to 4 players if you want the best experience from the game.

or Forbidden Island/Forbidden Desert.

The best thing with cooperative games is that the both of you can work together in order to defeat the game instead of defeating each other....which can be a great bonding experience. These games also scale well with a few more players (3-4P).

I've recently had success with this one. Namely with someone who I specifically know does not like boardgames, because I've tried multiple times in the past to catch the bug with no success. Various games have been played, and the response to additional plays of the same or new games has been negative. But with this one I promised that I could explain the game in one minute, and that despite his dislike of previous games, I really think he'd like this one. Reluctantly he played, and afterward he admitted I was right!

But whether or not this even qualifies as a "game" is still open for debate. laugh
