Ok, so here's what I want you to do:
1) Go to your "my geek" page to determine the number of games you currently own (unless this is something you just know off hand i.e. you don't have enough games).
2) Head on over to www.random.org
3) In the true random number generator, enter the number "1" as the minimum value. Next, enter the number "n" as the maximum value where "n" is the number of games you own.
4) Once a random number has been chosen, find the game in your collection that matches that number and post it here along with anything about the game you'd like to share. Perhaps it's a game you haven't played yet...that's ok. Post that you haven't played it yet.
5) If there's some reason why that number corresponds to something you don't want to post about, give it one more shot, but let's try to avoid that if we can.

Now look. I'm wanting front page geek list here. I've made a couple of geek lists that have done well, but I want award winner. I want massive thumbs (that sounds off, but you understand what I mean). I want tons of responses. I want your lives to change because of the sheer joy this geek list brings. Or something along those lines. I'll start it off with...

This is what I get for keeping so much old stuff around -- my random number lands on something I played once in 1996. I'm hazy on details, but I remember not being impressed, and thinking that this was because the game was incomplete as published. (Interestingly this was confirmed by a post on the OSS blog this year.)

#24 of 40. We bought this on a family trip to see my daughter and her husband in Idaho. My daughter said that they had purchased a deck in a gas station on one of their trips and had enjoyed it so we gave it a shot. It's a good game - plays fast, is easy to learn and you can't beat the price. I was disappointed to learn that it has been replaced by a follow-on version. I have thrifted the original game twice now - both times being shrink-wrapped new. Last May I was in Taiwan and found the original version (with Chinese subtitles) in a toy store. Needless to say, I bought it and it is part of our Monopoly Deal collection.

A fantastic expansion to a great (albeit fairly light) game.

My wife and I are still fairly new to gaming... we were already both big geeks, so when we were introduced to Wil Wheaton's "TableTop", we instantly knew gaming was for us... Castle Panic was one of the first three games we bought.

For us, Castle Panic was such a good introduction to the gaming world... it offered adventure and tension and that 'will we win or will we lose - it's so close' kind of fun... and no matter the outcome, we were still talking about the game for a while after putting it back in the box.

We picked up the Wizard's Tower expansion not long after buying the core game and we loved the extra dimension it added to the gameplay... by the time we picked up the expansion, we were defeating the monsters pretty much every time, the Wizard's Tower really allowed us to hone our skills a little more and in doing so helped us move on to more complex games.

It's a game we've considered selling or trading a couple of times as it doesn't see the table very often these days, but my wife and I were both too attached to it. Now that we have our first Geeklet on the way, we've decided to keep it for the future... and we're now counting down the years until we can play this game with our little one!

(edit for typo!)

I took it on our anniversary but I also took a copy of lost cities that I thrifted and my wife loved it...so Canasta Caliente remains one of a few games that are unplayed at our house. Is it worth dusting off and playing? You tell me.

One of the games that introduced me to boardgaming. Still one of my favourite games to play and it still sees play when I have people together to play with.

One of my favourite games, I just played it twice last weekend. Playing as US against two different Soviets I had a great time, suffering a narrow defeat in the first before getting slaughtered in the second . I get the same question from everyone I have tought this game to: "When can we play again?"

I must confess I cheated a little; after I did the random selection I realised that I hadn't excluded some of the games not referred as expansions, but I consider them like this (Ubongo Extreme, Jenga Flower power etc.)

On the second draw, 32/126 was Familienbande

Copy of my comment for the game:

Too much luck driven I think. If you don't pick up the right cards it is too difficult to catch the other(s). I read somewhere for poor artwork, but I enjoy very much the cards the way they are printed (De gustibus et coloribus non disputantum)

Nice idea for a geeklist by the way!

Not really my cup of tea. I got Ark pretty early on. I'd heard that Carcassonne was a good game and had a number of expansions, but that playing with the expansions inflated play time. This game includes a number of mechanics from the expansions with a reasonable amount of tiles. Farmer scoring is also a non-issue, since you're simply counting sheep and subtracting wolves.

Back when I was painting my Navia Dratp figures, I painted the ark in this game gold.

In this space (light multiplayer of medium length with pretty simple rules and not a lot of subsystems), I'd rather play China, Rheinländer, Rattus, or Lords of Waterdeep.

No. 29 of 101 is an old Eon Cosmic Encounter expansion. It introduced 14 new aliens (Boomerang, Bully, Delegator, Disease, Filth, Fungus, Loser, Pacifist, Prophet, Siren, Sniveler, Terrorist, Warpish, Witch).

I don't think Boomerang, Delegator, Terrorist & Witch have survived through to the new FF edition which has usurped the bruised, battered and wine stained original on my games table. (I can only blame myself and my friends over the years for the condition of the original as I bought it new.)

#46 of 106 games (excluding expansions) owned.

Not a whole lot to say about this one. It's a party game that's still in my collection from my pre-BGG days. You write some friend's names on the board, move around the board to different friends' names, draw a card, and say "Imagine if (friend) were a ____. Would they be... (list 6 different choices)?" And you and your friends vote on which you think the most appropriate choice is, and score points based on the voting results. It's not a terrible game by any means, but its biggest flaw is that it's really designed to work with exactly 8 players, who all know each other fairly well. It's a pretty rare circumstance when this is actually the case anymore. Back in my college days, this was a pretty big hit though.

As far as I'm concerned, Say Anything fired this a long time ago, but my wife still enjoys it, so it stays in the collection for now.

Trick taking game, based on the Mexican holiday of the same name. I actually have not played this yet (owned it for over 10 years, but I don't get to play a lot of trick taking games with my gaming group.) -

I recall it being printed on very thick cardstock, and quite hard to shuffle.

Yahtzee has been a staple in my gaming history though I play it less now than I used to (better things to play with dice like Dungeon Roll or Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age). IT is still a solid game that I can play with a group of people on short notice and everyone understands how it works. I don't anticipate getting rid of it anytime soon.

1 of 34 - Among the Stars is an absolutely brilliant game, where players are competing to build the best space-station by drafting components to buy and add on to them.

I bought the game because I've found 7 Wonders a really fun game to play at the nearby Universities Tabletop society. I tend to rule that I won't buy a game if a friend owns it, so I wanted to find something similar, at some point I heard of AtS and it got my interest.

I actually find it a more interesting game thanks to the geometric considerations, you have to think about where your place bits, rather than just having them or not. The one problem sometimes is that there's no escalation of card types through the years, it's the same set. The upcoming ambassadors expansion seeks to change this, with a set for the first 2 years, and a set for the latter 2, I can't wait to see what it does to the game!

I've had this for quite some time now, and while it looks great, I just haven't gotten it to the table and a while ago I decided I prefer the designer's other settings (Downtown: Air War Over Hanoi, 1965-1972) and would just invest my time there. Burning Blue has been on my for sale list for some time.

P.S. whenever I look at the cover from a distance, the smoke trails and plane for some reason remind me of a Star Wars AT-AT.

I own this game in its original tube version. It was given to me as a gift by a "crayon rails" enthusiast in our group who bought several on clearance and gave them to folks that didn't have a copy.

My copy is unplayed, but I've played Nippon Rails several times. Because of the nature of the game and map (lots of mountainous terrain and ferries) it only seats four players and feels cramped. So contest for the best rail routes around the islands is tight.

I enjoy the game and I like crayon rail games in general. A tweak that has been adopted by our local is that you don't draw your card(s) until you decide to end your turn, rather than as soon as you deliver a load. That way, players aren't constantly asking "Where's Yokohama?" and the like in the middle of their turn—they can do that during their down-time.

This means, of course, that events and what-not resolve at that time, too, which is also pretty convenient. You get to finish your turn before disaster hits. The upside is that it speeds up play. We've not yet seen a downside with the variant.

...Another tweak is that we play with "Martian trains" (found in Martian Rails). This introduces trains that travel between 10 and 16 spaces per turn. A bit more granularity, speed, and cost to trains. Pretty fun!

A fun game that plays a little like poker, but with lots of special powers that let you steal from the pot. I think its fun, but is over too quickly in most plays since you only play until one player is out of money, and that can happen in a couple of rounds.

I just don't see playing it ever again, when I have Legendary, DC Deckbuilding, and Pathfinder as well as High Command (soon) in my library. I love deckbuilders, but enough is enough.

The promo pack will get sold on Ebay, as were Dragonspire and Wrath of the Elements. I am taking the less in demand expansions with me to a local game convention to auction this weekend. Funny how the random number generator came up with this one!

Haven't played this in a while, I have fond memories of playing it at family gatherings for over 30 years. Easily the largest game in my collection, I store it upright, clamped to the side of the game-shelves, to avoid warping.

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is one of my Top 10 games in my collection right now, and Foundations of Stone has been one of my favorite adventure packs. I play the game solo, usually with just one deck but I've recently begun playing two-handed, and several of the player cards from Foundations of Stone have become key components of my decks. Glorfindel is one of my go-to heroes, and his trusty mount Asfaloth has come in handy to scout locations. Light of Valinor is essential for questing, and Imladris Stargazer provides great combos to accelerate resource collection and draw/play the cards that I want. I tend to recommend Foundations of Stone to almost anyone who asks "What expansion(s) should I get next" on the Lord of the Rings LCG forums.

Unfortunately, I believe I've only played the quest from this adventure pack once - solo, single handed. And that was long enough ago that I can't remember whether the quest was enjoyable or not. Maybe I'll pull this one out and give it another go, possibly two-handed as well.
