In vein of the existing geeklists:

- [geeklist=153057][/geeklist]
- Wargames Needing a Vassal Module

I am interested in the overal opinions on the subject of this geeklist:

Which wargame Vassal modules do you perceive as "not finished" or "not developed enough" in terms of improved playability and features?

Especially, what would those missing features be for a module?

Feel free to add a game for whicha module exists, the items will be sorted alphabetically.

This list does not imply I (or anyone else) would be going for these straight away and start working on any, but might help potential interestees (nice word, eh?) in zooming in on a module and maybe diving into any editing work...

The Vassal module for my game was developed several years ago. It wasn't me who did it, although I helped a bit. Since then I have released a few P&P expansions (some of them even including alternative boards!). So I think the module could certainly benefit from some more love.

The original was broken because it would not deal the U.S. late war cards. I thought I had it all fixed, but there is still a problem with not knowing when the 1864 election card is going to show back up. I had some ideas about making it a non-maskable card with a window that would allow you to look at the Late War deck, so you see where it lied.

Right now, it's only at the brainstorming level. This one needs fixed, because it is a great game.

A buddy of mine wrote me awhile back with a list of problems and asked me to fix them. If memory serves right it was:

No ally markers
No turn marker
Hard to tell if cards are masked
No unit counts in the pools
When you roll multiple d6s, it reports as "1d6"
Leaders cannot be sent directly to the battle board
No "hide all units" (globe) button.
Also, the money system is clumsy: having to physically move coins back and forth.

I fixed them all, but I stripped out the gold expansion, because he only had the silver. I'll update it with the expansions and put it back out there. It's been one of those "one day I'll get around to it." If there is demand, I'll push it up the priority list.

I made the original module.

I thought the units blended in with the background too much and that bugged me. Then I learned how to add a black border to the counters (thanks, Joel Toppen!) and realize it wasn't sacrilege to alter electronic counters.

So while I did that, I realized I could update it to use all the stuff I learned since then and now I am making it highly automated.

This module needs an upgrade, or to be built actually. The map gives the appearance that it was a Cyberboard revision.

The map is not the actual gameboard but what looks to be a generic re-draw that other older CB modules had.

Also the hand window needs to break out the cards and reserve cards so players can see the hand size better. There may be other items needed but I've just started using the module and those items clearly jumped out.

There are two versions of this module. The Japanese one has the original map graphics, while the english one has some VGA kind of drawing for the map and VGA like units. Which is a pity since this is a good looking game.

It would be nice to have the original graphics also in the english version of the module.

The module leaves much to be desired, it should be reworked to add also other campaigns.

This game has a dedicated core group of gamers and a dedicated PC application to play it: Warplanner (http://www.warplanner.com/).

With the GMT reprint, there is a group of new players, many of them used to VASSAL and/or not PC users.

I am one of these new players. I still don't know how to play. I installed warplanner, it looks like a great application. However, some of the folks I'd like to play would like a VASSAL mod. So, I made a very, very rough initial VASSAL module:
http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:A_World_at_War

Currently, there is a group of 4 of us split off from one of the AWAW yahoo groups working to made the module better. If you are interested in helping as well, let me know.
