Sequel to my previous geeklist.

There are some games that seem good, or decent the first time or two you play them. But then after a few more plays, you find out they're not all they're cracked up to be.

This list is for those games. If you add a game to the list, be sure to mention why it is it gets worse.

Admit it, this was the first game you ever played that deserves to be on this list more than all the rest combined.

My childhood game, full of memories of playing this game with the family on special occasions, family gatherings, and some family outings. Most of those are bad memories thanks to this game. Boredom at its finest.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game the first couple times I played it. But it lost its charm pretty quick. There isn't enough strategy and meaningful choices in this game to keep the replay value high for me. When I play a co-op game, I expect it to be difficult as hell to beat. But it gets easier. I suppose if you were one of those people who kept high score records that this could be better, which gives it a competitive element. That wasn't enough to save it, because if it's also trying to be competitive, it's not deep enough and too luck based for that. Ascension is a better deck building game. Speaking of deck building...

Let's face it, if you play this game enough times, you're eventually going to memorize what cards to buy and in what order. This is one of the few deck building games where I can say that it needed another randomness mechanic thrown in.

Other than that, I always found it a bit bland.

I loved this game from the moment I purchased it. It was one of the first board games I purchased that got me into the "good" board games (as opposed to any made by MB or Parker Bros.). But then as months went by, the game got stale. At first I thought it was because of the gaming group, but that ended up not being the case.

I really wanted to keep loving this game, I really did. I purchased the Growing Hunger and Revenge of the Living Dead expansions, I made my own characters and scenarios. But it all turned out the same in the end. The game got dull. I believe this was due to the zombies themselves. The player playing as the zombies makes mindless repetitive moves. When you first play the game, you have the illusion that there is strategy with the zombies. But in the end, it almost always boiled down to play cards as fast as you can, empty your hand as often as possible, and always strike at the nearest human.

The game didn't turn out terrible after several plays, but the replay value got too low to be played again compared to other games out there to be worth playing again. It's a shame, 'cause it's probably the best of the zombie board games out there.

If anyone knows of a zombie games better than this one (not Zombies!!!), let me know.

Although the expansion does spice things up a bit, Castle Panic usually turns into the player with the most experience barking suggestiorders at the other players for the optimal path to victory. The first few plays are exhilarating and you really get a sense of "we might not win this," but later on, you feel like you have it down to a science...

Let's face it, there's only so many times you can play this game before you start to hear the same story (or same events) happen over and over again. For a game with a storybook that big, you would expect that to happen later rather than sooner, but it doesn't. This game got dull really fast, after the 1st play.

Once the humor of seeing the cards the first time passed, all that was left was the mediocre game underneath.

I thought this was an excellent game for the first few plays. Then around my eighth play I began to get bored with it. By the tenth play I gave it away to a friend who still liked it.

I liked this game the first time I played it. But after the number of plays this game got rose, the more I noticed that it's not as deep as I thought.

Sure I didn't expect this game to be anything more than a quick filler to play while you wait for others to show up so you can play a real meaty game. But man, if you play it enough times, you realize there's a lot more luck than you think, that it doesn't always matter what tiles you hold. The patterns started to look the same with each play, it got too familiar, and it got predictable to know who would end up winning by the time the game was halfway through. It tends to depend on player order in many cases.

The first time I played it, I loved it.

The mechanics are tedious and a bit dull, but the drama is intense. Once all the cylons are outed, then you play a few rounds and try to get that last jump before you die.

Then the guys I played with all figured out if you are a cylon and you aren't the admiral or president, you should reveal at the first best spot, because you can do more damage as a revealed cylon. There goes the drama. Now it's just a repetitious, dull game.

I don't know if expansions fixed it and I don't care. I traded mine off a long time ago. I'm happy with the memories.
