Well, as I continue my backlogged GLs -- I seem to be excellent at keeping all my scribbles of game scores and plays in my bag of file folders-- yet I don't write down dates. ( Perhaps I should start!)

After months and months and months of not having our schedules coordinate -- I was thrilled to finally get to play at L and A's house on some Saturday in September that I can't completely recollect the date of. ( I am sure I can look on my work schedule and figure it out but I'd rather spend the time getting this list finally posted. )

FInally got to play a weighty classic, finally got to play a game I enjoy online I had wanted to play f2f for a long time , and got to make new gaming friends with Tony and Aimee !! And now for our report..

(10/14/2013 4:52 PM ) -- Details and scores filled in -- plays not logged yet.

Loved the idea of this game for a VERY long time. Have had my own copy not yet gotten to the table for indeed a very long time. Adina was very excited to get her birthday present copy to the table.

At the end of the experience, the only person still excited was to yours truly. Granted, this game is RATHER dated in its mechanics. I do adore the mechanic of blind bidding/action selection/role etc. But in this game what people are going to most likely choose is just too obvious for there to be any excitement or tension. ( As opposed to my current cause The Bid It Right TPIR CARD GAME !!) I think L and A put this in their sell/trade pile WHILE WE WERE PLAYING. We sure had some fun quotes though :

The castle is masturbating.
La Donn is exhibiting his HUGE exhibit on the castle couch for all to see.

I still love this game for what it is but I sure as hell doubt any of this group will ever be interested to play again !!

RESULTS

LaD 2nd
Aimee 3rd

( No one found this game Hoity or Toity -- they all replaced the H and T adjectives here with Hellacious and Terrible)

Thrilled to finally learn this, even though I did atrocious as L and A fought to a close victory. I just ran out of the cards I needed to get things I wanted WAY too fast and did not plan for the last phase like I should have. ( I was a tad closer in the first 2/3 of the game.) My only odd qualm, for shipping to not NECESSARILY be vital to amassing points, it sure takes up a lot of the board!

WOw, how long has it been that I hated a game with such a virulent passion that I didn't even want to finish.

This horrible stupidity, the latest in BGG geekDom overrated feces ( a la Quarriors a game I detest as equally as this silliness) that I am just COMPLETELY flummoxed why everyone is jizzing about -- is an overfiddly dorkazoid dice fest that takes WAY WAY too long for what it is. ( And I LOVE little dice fests in general, I am planning to have a whole gaming day of them sometime in the hopefully near future!!) After the end of the kill me now first round LaDonn praise him said "Um, there's usually 6 to 10 rounds of what we just did, do you want to just stop now? Thank God he asked I never EVER want to quit a game no matter HOW much I hate it -- so thrilled he offered.

I will move my presumed 1 rating to 2 however, sure are pretty dice !!

( I didn't write down who won that one said round, I was too busy scribbling my notes of incredulousness that this garbage is such a huge hit !)

Our final game with the full compliment of us was this Wallace masterpiece. I had planned the only slightly varied German-named version of this game ( no, I am not looking it up at the moment) One reason I love love love this game-- for its depth it really moves quickly , yet I learned something the difficult way. DO NOT get a county or two of yours into a superpower early. I was doing quite wonderful the first half of this game, then I was ganged up on understandably. Will be happy to rethink this and play again !!!
( Also Tony and Ladonn ADAMANTLY refused as I started going down in flames to ally with me in ANYTHING to see if I could stay in contention. Valid game strategy. Meanihead personally. )
